About John Chambers

We (Jan and John) were high school sweethearts in Winter Haven, Florida and were born, raised and educated in Florida. John went to FSU and Jan to U of F. John was a CPA and worked primarily in private industry until his retirement. We have two daughters who are married and each with two children and both living short distances from us.

John Chambers purchased this cabin in 2003

Why John Chambers chose Blue Ridge Mountains

Because we both grew up in Florida, we were fascinated with the mountains and their beauty since we rarely visited this part of the country. We especially liked the cool weather in the summer at the higher elevations. We scoured various areas of North Carolina but fell in love with the Blowing Rock area once we experienced what it had to offer. We found this property after years of searching and bought it because it met our goal of being over 4,000 feet in elevation, provided the look and feel of a mountain home, was located close to many attractions, conveniences and activities as well as providing an abundance of shopping experiences, activities, restaurants and public golf courses. Further, it was refreshing to find that the people in this part of the country are truly nice and pleasant and are willing to help you in any way possible. We are confident you will enjoy your time in this area while staying at our cabin.

What makes this cabin unique

You know you're in the mountains in this cabin. It has the looks, the feel and the smell of the mountains with great views all around. It is easy to relax, read a book, or get to know each other better while spending time on the decks while siting in the swing or rockers and enjoying the fire pit and sights and sounds of the surrounding trees and animals.

Gorgeous view, comfortable furnishings!

  • 5 of 5

Nature's Nest was a perfect set up for our trip. Two master bedrooms was perfect for my travel companion and I to both enjoy our own space! The kitchen is well stocked with lots of pots, pans, appliances and spices! John left lots of notes about the area and that helped with meals and fun! This is my first VRBO and I couldn't believe the house was stocked with toilet paper and paper towels, etc.

We hope to stay at Nature's Nest again!!

Perfect Family Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our family group just spent a delightful week at Nature's Nest! We had three couples, siblings and cousins. Nature's Nest was perfect for us! The house was extremely clean, very comfortable, well stocked with the necessities, and had a lovely porch for enjoying the mountain views. Location between Boone and Blowing Rock was very convenient for sightseeing in the area. Owners John and Jan were so helpful with making our arrangements. We look forward to a return trip ... hopefully sometime soon!

Nature's Nest

  • 5 of 5

Our stay here was over the top!! The cabin was just what we needed. It was extremely clean and felt just like we were at home. It was nice to sit outside for almost an hour and hear no man-made noises. We could be in Boone or Blowing Rock easily within minutes. We will definitely want to stay here again. Great stay!

Perfectly charming escape to the mountains

  • 5 of 5

Our group of two couples enjoyed a fabulous long summer weekend at Nature's Nest. The cabin was very clean and inviting. We found everything we needed to feel completely comfortable and happy. Our breakfasts on the deck with a spectacular view of the mountains were certainly a highlight. The location was superb being close enough to both Blowing Rock and Boone but remote enough to enjoy the tranquility. John was very generous in assisting us in our planning with many great recommendations of restaurants and activities. We greatly enjoyed the Symphony by the Lake at Chetola Resort, zip lining at Sky Valley, and hiking at Moses Cone Park and Linville Falls. Love this area and would definitely stay at Nature's Nest again! Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us, John and Jan!

Awesome cabin for graduation celebration

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Nature's Nest for our son's App State graduation. The cabin helped make the celebration a memory that will last forever. The location between Boone and Blowing Rock was perfect, the views were incredible, and the cabin was very clean and totally stocked with all the comforts of home. The weather was great and after watching the beautiful sunsets from one deck, we sat around the fire pit on the other deck roasting marshmallows and eating s'mores. Nature's Nest perfectly accommodated the group of 6 we were with. All the other reviews were very accurate and the owners were a pleasure to work with. We will definitely remember Nature's Nest for our future visits since we still have one more student at App State. GO APP!
