Growing up, Jason spent a lot of time in Harbor Springs, and on Sage Lake and Hubbard Lake. As a family we’ve vacationed all over the country and the state. The beaches of Lake Superior and Huron are amazing and lovely, but Big Blue (Lake Michigan) with her beaches, dunes and trails captures our hearts the most.
We’ve vacationed multiple times here in South Haven, but also enjoy neighboring communities in Saugatuck, Holland, Grand Haven and St. Joseph/Benton Harbor. We have made so many memories near Leelanau and Sleeping Bear Dunes it is surprising to not be nearer to there. We looked at many properties and considered beach access, lake views, activities, and the town or surrounding communities. We considered many options and thought seriously about only three properties. In the end, it was Blue View Victorian that grabbed us by the heart. It has the charm, beauty and location our family will enjoy for years to come (and so can yours).
On our previous vacations to South Haven we spent time mostly at the hotel/rental property or the beach. Since buying BVV, we’ve spent far more time in and around South Haven than ever before. Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming. South Haven is comfortable and casual and fits our style well. We love that we can stroll down to the beach/lighthouse or into town for a wonderful meal, a delicious coffee or ice cream, or to catch a movie. We love that in a very short time we are on first name basis with many of the proprietors and have been welcomed by our neighbors. Our deep connection to this community has developed quickly.
The first time we walked through, we knew this was our family’s legacy home – we offered the next day. We instantly fell in love with this 1889 Victorian with its restored charm and its seasonal lake views. We love listening to Lake Michigan waves and have spent hours marveling at the sunsets and stars. If you come to stay, you’ll see too.
