This property that this home sits on is the critical dune area.
Many permits had to be obtained, and the building of the home had specific guidelines that we had to follow through the DEQ (Department of Environmental Quality) It was a struggle at first, getting the proper design, placement of the home, and size down, once that was finished the rest went, well not as smoothly as we would have wanted. The first thing we built were the stairs (I fondly refer to them as my "Stairway to Heaven"). No vehicles were allowed to drive on the sand. We had to crane in the heavy trusses and walk everything up the stairs. It was a labor of love as we completely finished the inside ourselves.
The large wrap-around deck allows for views from all over. Watch the sun rise over the dunes in the morning, and the sunset over the lake in the evening. Gaze at the stars while sitting by the fire at night.
During the day, you can see test hill from the back, and watch the buggies try to accomplish climbing the hill.
