We were very sorry to learn about the stove not working. We were not aware of the issue prior to your arrival. The stove was fixed immediately upon departure. We hope you will consider joining us again.
We spent a week in late May at the house. The house was clean and well stocked - nothing lacking. The location is perfect, at the tip of Bailey island - very quiet. Would return there again for relaxation or work from home-from-home.
Rudman's Retreat provided the quintessential Maine vacation. This is what made it perfect: a bright comfortable house, with a fully stocked kitchen, a dock to watch the sunset over the cove, a 5 minute walk to the the beach, and a super friendly and attentive host. Of the many properties we have rented Rudman's Retreat is at the top of the list.
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful house on the ocean. Everything was so perfect for our small work retreat. The only issue we had at all was the downstairs bed was very hard. A memory foam mattress added would fix it and make his house absolutely perfect! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!
There isn't much we can say other than what other reviewers have posted. We loved this property unabashedly and are hoping to return next summer (if not sooner!).

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Rudman's Retreat. We would love to see you this fall/winter if you are able to make it.
The house is very nice and accurately represented by the photos. Very clean and well equipped and the view and sunsets were beautiful. However, the house next door is building an addition and the construction noise was pretty constant from 7:30 AM until about 5:00 PM.
Rudman's retreat isn't a basic cottage on a postage size lot, it is a beautiful, meticulously maintained, 4 season home VERY tastefully decorated with cherry furniture. The waterfront views of lobster boats coming and going was spectacular. Nearby we walked through the woods to an old WW II ocean observation tower and gun emplacements. David, the caretaker was super friendly, responsive, and easy to work with. As NH residents, we were impressed that our former US Senator's family owns this property, even displaying several items from his time as Senator. We will likely return, if they'll have us!
I may have left behind (or didn't pack) a couple of men's linen shirts. We are still in the area Aug 3-10 so if you have them, we can arrange to pick them up.
overall, we really enjoyed the property. either I didn't notice or it wasn't clear that the 2nd bedroom was in a loft with no ability to close it off. maybe that was my fault. otherwise, I really liked it. very very much. Mike 248-231-1093

Gorgeous views from bright and spacious home
We loved our stay at Rudman's Retreat. David was a pleasure to deal with and just down the road for any questions. The house was very clean and comfortable and the views from almost every room were awesome. We loved watching the parade of fishing boats, sail boats and even a ferry going by while sitting out on the deck for breakfast and dinner. House has all the conveniences we wanted including a washer and dryer and WIFI. Having two bathrooms is really handy for getting ready in the morning. There's a great spot in the study to work at the desk overlooking the ocean should you need to. I admit to falling in love with the flock of turkeys that made daily appearances. Bailey Island has some great restaurants just a short drive away where you can eat in or do take away and eat on your deck. We did both. The strawberry shortcake at Cooks was amazing. It's the first I've had that I preferred to my homemade! We would happily recommend this place to others.
We arrived and it was instant balm for the soul, the water is closer than appeared. The home is open and airy and had all you could need. We enjoyed our winter break home away from home....Thank you.
Love this place. It was our second time staying here. It's well maintained, very clean and tidy, and incredibly cozy. Lovely for a winter week in nature.
The serene and lovely views matched with just enough snow on Christmas Day to make everything a bit magical. The well supplied kitchen made our dinner a breeze.
This was Nirvana. Reserving this property next year. We didn’t want to leave. Perfect location. Peaceful, beautiful. Can’t say enough about how wonderful it is!
The property was better than the pictures! Stocked with all the necessities, very clean and comfortable. So peaceful and relaxing. Loved the family of turkeys that visited every day. Will definitely rent this house again.
Second time we’ve rented Rudman’s Retreat… love the setting overlooking outer Mackeral Cove. House is well equipped, comfortable, and in a quiet area. Enjoy watching the lobsterman come out in am to pull traps.
The process was smooth and simple, the property gorgeous. Our only complaint was that we were awakened by jack hammers next door each morning at 7:30. Not ideal, especially in coming from a western time zone.
Nestled into a hill on the rocky coast of Maine made for a quiet and relaxing vacation. Wonderful views of the sea to watch the tides, gulls, and lobster boats go by. House was well-equipped with everything that we needed.
