About Dale or Martha Hershey

My family has been farming in the Paradise area for 8 generations and I am the third generation to farm our home farm. Three generations of Hershey,s farm 180 acres growing corn, alfalfa, barley and soybeans. We use these crops to feed our 150 head of dairy animals.

Dale or Martha Hershey purchased this farmhouse in 2007

Why Dale or Martha Hershey chose Ronks

My family has helped farm the Willow Brook Farm since the 1960's. Willow Brook was built in 1867 by the Groff family. When the last surviving member was entering his final days he wanted our family to own Willow Brook as appreciation for all the time we had spent taking care of him. We bought the farm to expand our crop acres and to also provide additional housing for our cows.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Willow Brook was a upper class farmhouse at the turn of the century which hosted parties for the elite of the day. We have worked to keep that old feel, but with all the benefits of living in the twenty first century.

Absolutely fabulous stay

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 7 women enjoying a "girls' weekend" could not have been happier staying here. The house had 6 bedrooms, two having an additional bed in the room. There were 3 full bathrooms and an enormous kitchen. Everything we needed was provided. We've stayed in other homes where only one towel was provided per bed and toilet paper was limited. Not here.....there was plenty to go around! Most importantly the house was clean and well kept. The owners were attentive. Dale, was very friendly when we me him on-site and Martha answered all our questions prior to arrival. The location is central to all activities and shopping. It was quaint having the Strasburg Railroad pass right by the residence. At night, it was extremely quiet. If I had to find one thing to change it would be the lighting in the dining area. We were doing close work like adult coloring and crocheting and needed more light. But that's it.....everything was well beyond expectations!!

I highly recommend this beautiful, well kept, updated old farmhouse

  • 5 of 5

My family, consisting of 8 adults and 7 children, stayed here for two nights in October. Perfect location since we were going to cherry crest adventure and the renaissance faire with the children. The children loved seeing and visiting the cows when we were at the house.

The house was well supplied with plently of dishes, utensils, and all the necessary essentials. We loved having two full size refrigerators since there were so many of us and we all brought food and drinks. The dinning room table expanded to seat everyone. The children loved playing with some of the games in the closet. The adults enjoyed seeing old pictures of the original house and reading about it's history. The bedrooms were prefect for everyone. No complaints. Most of the children slept in one room next to and connecting to one of the parent's room.

Dale stopped by to introduce himself the day we were headed to the renaissance and to see if everything was okay.

I could write a book about how pleased we all were with the house, the owner's, the location, etc.and that is why I highly recommend booking this house. I don't think anyone would be disappointed

Thank you Dale and Martha for your quick responses to my emails and even my one phone call. Hopefully, we can book your house again next year and stay a few days longer.

Spacious and gracious home

  • 5 of 5

We were 11 Seniors from the New England area who decided to take a trip to see Jonah at Sight and Sound and spend a couple of days in the Lancaster area exploring Amish country. We could not have chosen a better place to stay than Dale and Martha Hershey's home. It is spacious, convenient and clean. The bathrooms were updated and there was more than an ample supply of towels and linens. The kitchen was well stocked and having two kitchens was an added convenience. Staying on a working Farm and seeing cows first thing in the morning was a first for many in our group. Dale and Martha were gracious hosts making sure that we had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. We even got to meet Dale's parents who live on neighboring farm. What made the stay extra special is that I got a new born calf named after me.. a special honor. I guess I will have to go back to visit my namesake! We highly recommend this home for small and large groups.
