About Dale or Martha Hershey

My family has been farming in the Paradise area for 8 generations and I am the third generation to farm our home farm. Three generations of Hershey,s farm 180 acres growing corn, alfalfa, barley and soybeans. We use these crops to feed our 150 head of dairy animals.

Dale or Martha Hershey purchased this farmhouse in 2007

Why Dale or Martha Hershey chose Pennsylvania

My family has helped farm the Willow Brook Farm since the 1960's. Willow Brook was built in 1867 by the Groff family. When the last surviving member was entering his final days he wanted our family to own Willow Brook as appreciation for all the time we had spent taking care of him. We bought the farm to expand our crop acres and to also provide additional housing for our cows.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Willow Brook was a upper class farmhouse at the turn of the century which hosted parties for the elite of the day. We have worked to keep that old feel, but with all the benefits of living in the twenty first century.

Better than pics, very clean and beautiful views. The children loved playing outside.

Plenty of towels and linens provided, we did request some bigger pots and griddle for pancakes and Dale brought them over. We loved the property and the only suggestion would be to provide better pans for cooking and larger ones for bigger families, there was a pack n play but no high chair.

Dishwasher very old , with these upgrades it would be perfect.

Beautiful home and perfect location to Sight and Sound and the Covered Bridge ride

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for the weekend with a group doing the Covered Bridge Classic. The house was perfect for our stay. Some of the 2nd floor beds were quite squeaky, that would be my only negative

Owner's Response: When you have antique furniture sometimes it is hard to kèep all the squeaks from squeaking all the time.

Great place to stay especially with children!

  • 5 of 5

There are 17 of us - my wife and I, our four grown children, three are married, and 8 grandchildren ranging from 6-14. There were rooms for all the couples and the kids camped out in two of the rooms. We did bring one air mattress for the girls (5 of them). There was plenty of space. The children played and played in the house and outside. They were often up early and rushed down to the barn to push the hay to the cows. One morning we drove a short distance to the owner's home. Dale gave the kids and some of us adults a tour of his milking area and allowed us to bottle feed the calves - a great experience our grandkids will never forget!

This marvelous house has been very nicely renovated. The bathrooms well accommodated our crew. The large kitchen and dining area was great for when we did eat at the house and that was every morning and some evenings as we were away a lot of the days. Twice the men grilled out - there is a grill on one of the four porches. We did not have to worry about bedding, towels, etc. - all were well provided and there is a washer and dryer right off the kitchen area.

The house is perfect for visiting Hershey and Philiadelphia - we did both - and seeing the many wonderful things that are so much a part of Lancaster County and the Amish experience. We recommend this as a great place to stay and would go back anytime!
