Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom / 2 Bathroom Sleeps 8

Located less than 200 yards from the beach of Playa Gigante and half that to town center, Casa Laguna is truly a unique Nicaraguan experience. Following American standard building techniques, this brand new rental blends the conveniences of nearby resort amenities with the excitement and genuine feeling of community in a sleepy Nicaraguan fishing village. Famous for its world-class surf breaks, the closest of which is a five-minute walk, Playa Gigante offers a little something for everyone. The town also offers several restaurants, bars, 2 small grocery stores, and an internet café. Playa Gigante is a protected bay making it a safe and family friendly place to swim and relax. This also makes it the best bay around to get surf boat tours, fishing charters, sunset sailing adventures, ATV tours, and much more.

The house is nestled under a large occasionally monkey filled tree, offering the perfect escape from the heat of the day. Casa Laguna has three large bedrooms, a full kitchen, an entertaining space, shaded hard wood deck with swimming pool and a barbecue zone. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and it’s own private bathroom. The guest rooms have custom made beds - double and twin mattress that can sleep three people per room. All guest rooms have air conditioning with locking bed side tables. The house has hot water, ample storage, brand new appliances, a large dining table, excellent security and even a board rack for your surf boards.

If you would like to know more about Playa Gigante and the surrounding areas, please e-mail me as I have compiled a detailed list of things to see and do while here as well as detailed maps of the area and surrounding beach breaks.

Inquire about special vacation packages that include transport to and from the airport, fishing trips, guided surf tours, sunset sails and much more. All trips are completely customizable to fit a group of any size or interest.

About Dale Daggar

We never thought we'd own a property in a foreign country. We always thought we'd just travel to new places. After a trip to Gigante in 2010, that all changed. Upon spending some time in this little village, we couldn't help but feel attached to the people, the community and the pride held by the people for their home. The incredible surf sure helps too, waves and offshore every day, where else do you get that? We saw the opportunity to introduce our young boys to another culture and language and couldn't imagine it not being this place. So now we were hooked. Thankfully, meeting Ben and Kass of Barefoot Builders allowed us to design and build a fantastic home in this little tropical paradise. They provided the needed support and local knowledge needed to navigate the very different world of building in a foreign country. As property managers, we know that Barefoot Builder's intimate knowledge of the house they built, their years of high end customer service experience in this little town and their dedication to helping industry for all that live here, you will have as incredible an experience as we did. We hope you fall in love with Gigante and our little home in the heart of it.

Great pool

  • 5 of 5

Our family loved this house because the pool has various depths, so the whole family felt comfortable swimming. The pool has a roof, so no sunburn. The AC works great to sleep peacefully at night. There is hot water in the bathroom sinks and shower. Only bring more silverware if there are more than 4 people with you. We would definitely book again.

Great surf trip

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying at casa laguna and this time we had a nice refreshing pool. the pool came with its own pool boy, who came everyday to clean it. They also have some clean the house for you. We did a lot of cooking in this house, it has everything you need. It also has a grill outside by the pool deck which we also use to cook. The only thing this place needs is a better coffee machine, the one in the house had a super slow drip and took forever. The house has no Wifi and no TV which we didn't mind cause it makes everyone interact with each other :). No hot water but again we didn't mind cause nicaragua if hot!! and a nice cool shower feels good. We had AC and fans in every room. We bought all of groceries at Maxi Pali in Rivas on our way into Gigante but the town also has a pulperia (tiny grocery store) where they sell almost everything . The guys walked to Amarillo Beach a 5 minute walk and surfed everyday. We also had dinner at Blue Sol restaurant just down the road (they have Wifi). We also hung out at the Gigante Bay Hostel for drinks (they have Wifi), this place is the hang out place with two bars and food too and lots of people from all over the world (fun). We got to see pigs, chickens, cows, horses and monkeys. Gigante town is the best and the people here, gringos or locals are super friendly. We can't wait to go back :). A big Thank you to Dale Dagger for everything.

The best house in Gigante

  • 4 of 5

Traveling with a family of six, finding a place to stay in Gigante is nearly impossible, but this property provided us with exactly what we were looking for. Close to the beach and "downtown" right on the main road made getting anywhere very easy. The house was clean and well kept after and even had air conditioning, a big plus in Nicaragua. the pool was also a nice bonus, especially with the troop of howlers that hang out in the tree above. There was a lack of comfortable seating both in and outside, no hammocks, and you have to pay for any electrical usage over a certain wattage, the first time I've encountered this anywhere. But this house really is the best in Gigante, loads better than any of the on the beach rentals that tend to be bare bones and run down. We enjoyed our time there immensely . Staying in Gigante is a much more pleasurable experience than staying in the gated communities down the road.

Amazing place to stay!!

  • 4 of 5

Just spent 5 nights at this amazing house in Playa Gigante. It was one of the highlights of our two week trip to Beautiful Nicaragua. The house was ideal for 8 of us travelling together. It was beautifully located in what I like to call a ranch enviroment, yet just steps from the beach. There were monkeys, cows, pigs, chickens roosters, and steer walking around the house which was truly amazing. It was a perfect location to feel like we were part of the locals yet also felt like we were in our own privare oasis.

Bekah, the property manager was amazing. She checked in on us everyday to see how we were doing. She is very sweet and very helpful. She arranged cab rides to the airport which was very helpful.

Playa Gigante is a wonderful little fishing village with a stunning beach and many stunning little beaches in short walking distances. The views are incredible.

There are a few restaraunts on the beach that were very good. The local hostal at the end of the beach is fun to hang out at and have food and beer.

We loved this place and are very happy that we were able to spend our last 5 days here.

It is very safe and very relaxing. The pool was a nice bonus too when we wanted to have some shade and read our books. Lovely!

Nice House

  • 4 of 5

Great house, located roughly 200 meters from beach. Very comfortable/safe place to chill out for a few days. 2.5 hour drive from Managua (provided you avoid Managua's traffic....head towards Tipitapa to Masaya). House provides access to Panga Drops, one of the few point breaks in the local area. Really nice break that's a few km walk from the house....a walk along very nice beach. Lot's of restaurants on the beach to grab some food, or use the grill to cook your own. Great place to relax and grab some surf with super chill/small crowds. Three bedrooms provide ample room for a good crowd. Very clean house.

awesome place!

  • 5 of 5

Casa Laguna is an awesome place to stay! very spacious for 6 of us. We grocery shopped at Maxi Pali in Rivas and we did most of our own cooking, the kitchen had everything we needed. It has a TV you can watch movies, some board games. We would enjoy being awakened by echoing monkeys and while having our morning coffee, seeing cows, pigs, horses all just roaming the roads in front of the house. The house has no WiFi which i loved because you just want to enjoy everything around you. but if really can't live without wifi then you can go into to town and there are several places that have it. We went surfing almost everyday, the beach is only a 5 minute walk. The town about a 2 min walk :). Had dinner at Blue sol (very good place) If you go to Gigante bay Hostel ask for John, he can hook you up with some repelling and sunset sailing, john was a cool guy and glad we met him. had smoothies and mimosas at the wave cafe (yummy) they have wifi too. We also hired a driver to take us to Granada and we hired a panga boat to take us to San Juan both trips were so much fun. If you are looking for resort touristy type of place then this is not the place for you. Here you will feel like your are in a different country for sure and you can walk anywhere and feel safe,, I love it. The people are super friendly locals and Americans, they are always willing to help out. We can't wait to go back :)
