Beautiful home in NEWPORT near water, walk to town

PLEASE NOTE: Minimum one month rental only please due to local rental laws.

Welcome to this charming cottage located in the desirable and historic Point section of Newport. The neighborhood is close to downtown and all its activities and is directly on the water overlooking beautiful Naragansett bay.

This home is 1 block from the water which includes a swimming/fishing pier and a lovely park on the bay perfect for picnics and watching our gorgeous sunsets. There is also another park 2 blocks away with a playground, public tennis and pickleball courts and plenty of green space for children to run around. Although located close to town this is not in the congested bar and traffic area so it is much quieter. It is just a 10 minute walk to the downtown area along the beautiful waterfront.

The home is comfortably and beautifully furnished providing plenty of space for you to relax in. The home has lots of windows offering plenty of light and breeze. There are 2 mini air conditioning splits, central air in the top floor and ceiling fans throughout. The office has a separate unit for when you close the door. In addition there is a lovely formal garden offering plenty of shade and a front porch perfect for lounging.

In addition to 3 separate living areas the house has an open roomy feel. The master bedroom, bathroom and 1 additional bedroom are on the top floor. On the 1st floor is the dining room which is just off the fully equipped gourmet kitchen and has seating for 8. Just next to the dining room is the front lounge which has a wrap around sofa and a 60' flat screen 3d tv with a Bose surround sound system. Also on this level is a private office complete with desk and plenty of room to work if necessary.

A few steps down to the ground floor comprises of the 'great room' with high ceilings, lots of windows and 2 doors leading out to the garden complete with sitting areas and a gas barbeque grill. There is also a powder room for your convenience.

On the lower floor there is another bedroom, private sitting area, full bathroom with shower stall and a laundry room. In the sitting area there is a trundle bed which can be set up for use as a king or two twins if arranged in advance and is ideal for children or that spare guest.

Beautiful home and Location

This host was exceptional and accommodating. I cannot say enough compliments about her and this home. I would highly recommend her as a host and her rental as a great place to stay. And she had it stocked with all of the comforts of home, especially for someone who likes to cook, like me. We had such a wonderful time during our stay. The home was beautiful, the backyard and neighborhood were peaceful. I loved the morning and afternoon walks along the waterfront only 2 blocks from the house which made for a relaxing stay. We had a great time in a fantastic location. A quiet neighborhood close to everything. The house was so unique and had plenty of room for everyone. Check in and out were a cinch. It's a wonderful place for anyone looking to spend some time in Newport.

Gorgeous, Tastefully-Decorated Home in the Heart of the Point

My wife and I spent nearly 3 months in this house with our three little children. We loved every day of our time there. The house is gorgeous, beautifully maintained, well equipped, and in a great location. The owner is incredibly helpful and kind, responding to any contingencies immediately and eager to assist. The neighborhood is lovely and very walkable, as well as being close to the naval base and to downtown. We really cannot say enough good things about it! This home made our time in Newport very special. We would go back in a heartbeat and maybe never leave. :)

August 2015 Monthlong Stay

My wife and I (age 60+) had a wonderful vacation here. Home and location are spectacular. Being able to get to the shopping center, food store etc. a mile away out 3rd street made it very enjoyable. Photos don't do it justice, home is beautifully appointed throughout. Plenty of room for guests and many visitors including our 5 grandchildren. Owner Portia and Realtor Stephanie were a delight to work with. We loved the fact that there were two large living room spaces, very modern kitchen and appliances. We walked into town (.7 mile) easily right along Washington Avenue and the waterfront. Living spaces were large and white glove clean. As such we treated the home as if it were our own -- you will too. We hope to be there for many years to come.

What a home!

My family of five stayed at this home for a week in August, 2013. As you can see, the owner supplies lots of excellent photos and descriptions. I went in with the attitude that if it's half as good as it appears, then we'll have a great time. Well, honestly it's twice as good as it appears! The owners attention to detail and decorating are impressive. The house has all of the modern conveniences of today's contemporary homes yet still captures the charm of being located in an historic Newport neighborhood. The five of us had more than enough room to stretch out and my family loved being such a short walk from swimming in Narragansett Bay. The home is also within walking distance to Newport Harbor. We would absolutely stay here again and I fully recommend this "home away from home" to anyone vacationing in the Newport area.

I am from Newport and actually grew up in this beautiful neighborhood. My father was an officer in the Navy and my parents were very interested in historic preservation. We arrived in the early 60's when Newport, and particularly this area was undergoing a major renaissance after years of neglect. They ended up restoring 2 historic homes on the Point. I bought a home here but now live with my partner in life, also in Newport. We spend the summers at his cabin in Alaska. I love my home and love renting it out so that others can enjoy this amazing city by the sea.

I grew up in this beautiful historic neighborhood on the water.

What makes this property unique

It looks like any other turn of the century Newport cottage from the outside but is much more on the inside! The previous owners gutted the home and hired an architect to add an incredible addition which added loads of light and charm to the home and created a great open space.
There are 2 separate and comfortable TV viewing areas which guests love. The private office is another feature guests love. Plus a driveway in this neighborhood is a bonus!
