Unique holiday in beautiful surroundings, with best terrace ever and highly luxurious!

In the solsona region of Catalonia, Spain you´ll find the very beautiful holiday home Masia Leveña, more characteristics of a Castell (castle) than a Masia (very large house). The couple Jemma and Martí has ??put a solid portion of energy, love and investment in creating the best environment for the large holiday group. They have thought of every detail, both practical and design-wise! The house consists of 360 m2 and can accommodate 14 +4 guests. The house is spread over three floors and here are a total of 7 bedrooms, all with private bath in the rooms. All rooms are very spacious and the bathrooms are exceptionally delicious. You can, if anywhere, really feel surrounded by luxury and the feeling of wellbeing must enrich every holiday experience in Masia Leveña.

None of the furniture is bought in Ikea or similar furniture dealers, but the entire family has helped the couple finding the right antique furniture for the rental home. This has created a unique and authentic feeling when you are staying in the house.

Besides the many beautiful rooms in the villa, you´ll find an elegant dining room where the kitchen - very practical - is placed in extension. The kitchen is bright and tastefully and here is all modern amenities such as; Dishwasher, 2 coffee makers, fine oven, refrigerator / freezer, microwave etc. The common room also encounters the lounge area, so here you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine while the food is prepared. In the house is a computer and there is WI-FI.

You will probably prefer to get the best out of the weather and choose to dine outside instead and Masia Leveña has the best outdoor patio we have ever seen in a holiday rental home (and we have probably visited 500 homes). Here is an excellent outdoor kitchen with BBQ, gas hob, fridge / freezer and dishwasher. The outdoor kitchen is an extension of the large patio table and on the covered terrace is also a really nice little sofa area. The terrace is also perfectly located as it is overlooking the pool area. You can then relax at the pool and quickly enjoy a cold drink from the fridge at the terrace. When preparing the dinner you can still enjoy the summer life around the swimming pool with your friend or family. With entrance from the the terrace is even another indoor dining room built very beautifully in rustic surroundings.

The swimming pool is 11x4 meters and has a small cascading feature. This is lots of great sun loungers and the pool area has a picturesque view. Behind the house is a small library with billiards and a table tennis in Masia Leveña. Right by the house's entrance is also toilet, so you do not have to go up.

The house is situated in very private and beautiful surroundings. From here you choose among many great day trips. There are 90 km. to the state of Andorra, which has among the world's best spas (if you wish to get spoiled). The city of Barcelona is 137 km. from the house (here is also beaches) and the Costa Brava coast is almost 200 km. from Masia Leveña. The nearest golf course is located 15 km. from the house.

In Masia Leveña thet have thought of everything and if you wish to live in beautiful, private and scenic surroundings with the best possible house and facilities this holiday house is a perfect choice!

Beautiful place with some major issues

We were a large group who rented this property from Catalonia Holiday Rentals, who, frankly, were terrible to deal with. The owners, who live locally, were wonderful and if I were them, I'd think twice before continuing with the booking agency. Our first issue with them was that they told us we could not check in until 7PM, which is absolutely ridiculous. We have rented in many, many places before and 4PM is the latest we have checked in anywhere. After many torturous e-mails, they told us we could check in at 4PM. This would not normally be that much of an issue, but we have a bunch of children in our party and 7Pm is bed time for the young ones.The house is lovely, lovely, lovely and the en suite bathrooms are a huge plus for this house. One of them had a super slow drain and we were throwing towels on the floor to divert the water back into the shower. Not optimum, but we dealt with it. The inside kitchen is adequate, but could be much better. There were no linens or tea towels provided to us so we bought our own. That's ridiculous in a place of this type. There also was nowhere to store our food so we had it allover the place.Note to anyone with children: This place is loaded with steps, which is normally not a problem, but these are often uneven and dangerous. No one's fault as the house is really old, but it might be an issue with some. There was a huge flood due to the washer overflowing, but the owners (who were super nice) came and handled it immediately. We also had problems with the electric cutting out which they handled as well. We first called the Catalonia Holiday Lettings as they were the one taking the commission, but they were seriously lacking in terms of responsiveness. Another issue was that one night, three bats flew in one of the open bedroom windows causing absolute mayhem in the wee hours of the morning. Most of the windows have decorative iron bars which impeded the bats from entering the room, but this one did not. The absolute best part of the house is the outdoor space, which is spectacular. We spent all of our waking hours out there, cooking, swimming, eating, playing games and drinking wine. It was wonderful. There's an entire kitchen with gas burners, a sink, a dishwasher, a fridge and a great propane fired paella set-up. We LOVED it! As I said, the house is lovely, but there are some issues which should be addressed. Also, when renting it, be aware that it is thirty long minutes on a bendy road to the nearest town.

Owner's Response: We have read this review, and just want to add our take on it. Just to explain, we are a small agency specialized in the Spanish region of Catalonia. We have our own website and use Homeaway to get in touch with more guests, who would like to visit this beautiful part of Spain. We always visit the house to check that it lives up to our criteria. It should be of very good standard, situated in beautiful settings and with no unpleasant surprises (pigfarms, motorways etc.). After the visit, we agree to collaborate with the local owner, with whom we always have a very good relation. We help them let out their property to people from all over the world. For you as guest, we will always be available until the last day of your stay, and will be your neutral advisor before choosing a house, as we do not have specific interest in any house, our aim is to match the right groups with the right houses. Obviously, in this case, the group has not been completely satisfied. With regards to the arrival time, it is a bit hard to blame us, as it is the owners’ decision, what time they can have the cleaning completed. For any house, it is a complicated issue that many groups want to arrive early and leave late, which is impossible in July and August with arrival and departure the same day. The house needs to be cleaned during the day. We are taking about 7 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, indoor kitchen, outdoor kitchen, swimming pool, cutting grass etc. As the owners want to welcome people with a perfect house, they need time to clean. We agree that 19:00 is very late though, and we are in dialogue with the owners about changing it to 17:00, which is common. I am not sure what linens and tea-towels means, but the house is fully equipped with bed-linen and towels. If you stay more than one week, there will be a change after one week. It is true that the house is remotely situated, and this is not a secret, about 25 min. to town. With regards to the general standard of the house, we cannot agree with the person writing this e-mail. It is a fantastic house, and in 7 years, this is the first complaint. On the contrary, we have had several repeating groups, so we are not alone with this belief. With regards to our responsiveness, we try our best, and for this Summer, we have now more staff (besides Lisbeth and I, five students now help us). But again, this has not been a general issue, on the contrary, you will only find nice reviews about our service on Trustpilot.
