About Coni Scott

Coni, Mary Ann and Terry are your hosts at Alder Creek Cabin. We are retired and truly enjoy living in the Mt. Hood Area. The best thing about our rental cabin is: 'We get to meet people from all over the world.'

Coni Scott purchased this cabin in 1991

Why Coni Scott chose Sandy

The property was bought as a project. We wanted to be in the mountains and at a low elevation as we enjoy gardening. Since we have been here we have created a history that we enjoy sharing with our guests including words and pictures. Be sure to ask how this magnificent place came to be.

What makes this cabin unique

Close to everything.

Adorable little cabin

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect, and then some. Exactly what you want to stay in when you plan a snowboarding trip to the mountain. Coni and Terry we're so thoughtful with every detail they added. The clawfoot tub and hot tub we're very helpful with the sore muscles we had. The cabin was also only 30 minutes away from Mount Hood Meadows. We will definitely stay here again! Have to find that last mouse...

Tranquil and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at the cabin for three nights earlier this week and had the most relaxing and enjoyable time. The goal of my trip to Oregon was to unwind and recharge myself after a busy year. Coming from Texas, the idea of colder weather and mountains sounded like a welcome change. The cabin is in a beautiful area about an hour outside of Portland and 10 minutes outside of Sandy in the middle of a forest. A gushing river flows behind the cabin that you can walk down to and explore. While I was there, it did not snow, though further up Mt Hood there was plenty of snow. The cabin was about 5 minutes below the snow line by car, which suited me just fine.

Coni and Terry were friendly and accommodating. You can tell they have been hosting travelers for a long time because they have the whole operation down to a science. They even had an organized folder of trail maps for those that want to hike, and umbrellas and snow shoes available for guests. I didn't interact with them very much after check-in, but I sensed that they would welcome the interaction if guests so choose to engage.

One thing to note about this cabin is that there is one bathroom downstairs that has an amazing, deep clawfoot tub, but no shower inside the cabin. Outside by the hot tub there is a separate structure that houses a shower, but I didn't end up using it because I couldn't work up the willpower to make the walk outside in the cold to shower. Instead, I took a bath each day, and honestly that was so much better.

I hope to be back some day. Thank you Coni and Terry for your hospitality!

Peaceful setting in a garden paradise

  • 5 of 5

We rate this on the top of our list of vacation rentals. Small, cozy, clean log cabin tucked away into a little piece of heaven! You have to experience the garden surroundings first hand to really understand the sights, sounds, and fragrances of this amazing property. Will be back again for sure. The breakfast was so delicous! Coni and Terry make you feel like you've known them your whole life. Lots of good ideas about places to visit in the area & excellent choices for places to eat. We need more people in the world like Coni, Terry, & Mary!!!!

Amazing Experience We Will Remember for a Lifetime. We Will Be Back!

  • 5 of 5

Add us to the list of people who use VRBO all the time and believe that this is the nicest one we have ever rented. The quality of the cabin and the attention to detail are a wonder to behold. Connie, Terry and Mary Ann are gracious and wonderful hosts. The outdoor areas, including their Japanese Garden are impeccably manicured and it creates such a peaceful and relaxing setting, you never want to leave. It is a short walk to a beautiful stretch on the Sandy River that is secluded and peaceful. We can't wait to go back!!!!!!! We give it our highest recommendation!!!!

Best VRBO I've stayed in!

  • 5 of 5

I've stayed in dozens of VRBOs around the country, and the Alder Creek Cabin is best stay I've experienced. The cabin is beautiful, down to every detail. The hot tub under the trees is the best place to relax and catch up with whomever is lucky enough to go with you. And Coni, Terry and Mary Ann are the most gracious hosts you'll meet. They make you feel like you've known them for decades while at the same time providing you with all the privacy you want. I can't recommend this cabin highly enough. You'll see what I mean when you stay there!

Me and my girlfriend recently stayed at the Alder Creek Cabin. We had an awesome time! The cabin was very cozy and well kept. We really enjoyed sitting in the hot tub well it was raining out. The hosts were great! We had breakfast both mornings and it was delicious! We will definitely be staying again!

When we asked our guests for advice on what to include in “Special Attractions”, this was the number one comment.

Oh, tell them about the MICE!! So okay here we go…………………….

There are seven painted portraits of little mice, you are welcome to look for them but you don’t have to. They are all in plain sight and you don’t move anything. They welcome you and hope you will find them. There is a record kept as many guests have contests with each other. Oh, I almost forget, there is one included in our presentation. Remember you don’t have to move a thing. Let us know how you did. Coni@aldercreekcabin

Good Luck!
