A very peaceful property in the hills with plenty of space inside and out. It is an older home with the associated quirks but everything is as described and reasonably maintained.Make sure to visit Sylvie's Place at the bottom of the hill for great vibes and a game of dominoes! Thanks to Sharon and Chris for helping make my 5th trip to the island another great one.
What an amazing view! This home was perfect to have the whole family hanging out and spending time together!

Pros: the view and privacy were fantastic. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. The local property maintenance man was very responsive and handled any issues quickly. Cons: the check-in process was rough. On the day of arrival, we'd been traveling over 12 hours during the night with no rest. GPS did not recognize the property address. The only check in information available said to contact the host. At this point I could not make any calls on my phone and reception was very spotty so I sent a message via the VRBO app, to which she replied: "You need to contact Chris". Having no contact information for a Chris, phones about to run out of juice, we resorted to asking a local business for help. Thankfully they went way above and beyond to find the information needed. I highly recommend the Leatherback Landing Bar for the kindness of the owner, I truly don't know what we would have done without her help.
Everything you see in the listing is accurate. The pool is gorgeous and overlooks the ocean. My family and I needed a break and this was the perfect place to unwind and enjoy time together.
Beautiful views. Manager was very responsive and helpful. Home was spacious and very nicely stocked with both food and other necessities. Be ready for bugs due to the house location.
We had a fantastic stay at this property in Cane Bay, St. Croix! The location was perfect for peace and quiet, allowing us to truly relax and enjoy our vacation. The house was well-equipped with everything we needed, including pots, pans, and utensils. The outdoor shower was a nice touch, and we loved the ocean view from the patio. The built-in pool was great, though it was quite deep on one end. Chris, the caretaker, was incredibly accommodating and made our arrival smooth and easy. Overall, a perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. Highly recommend!Kent
Overall, this house was everything we needed it to be. It housed us all and was very affordable for everything it offered. Some minor items were noted and reported to the property manager and he was very respectful and responsive. House has its quirks and some things don't work quite like they are supposed to- it is an older house, but it is priced appropriately.Road getting to the house is rough- but our rental jeep and Nissan rogue made it up and down without any problems. All-in this was a great spot!
The house is nice but what is so special about this house is the patio. Beautiful view of the ocean from the shaded patio. Nice pool and amazing wildlife. We were visited at the patio daily by the giant hermit crab and occasionally by deer, iguana, mongoose, peacock and a night heron. Chris was very helpful with any issues that we had.
We have been to STX many times and this house was by far was our favorite place that we’ve stayed. The pool and pool table kept us entertained in the evening. Even our teenager stayed off of his phone! The landscaping and plants were amazing, it felt like we had our own private botanical gardens for the week. The view of the North Shore was absolutely stunning. We hope to be back soon and stay there again with more family members next time because there was plenty of room. Perfection!

Heavenly view
The house is more than big enough for a large family. Wonderful views. Great pool. Chris, the property manager is AWESOME!!!!!! He saved our stay. Water went out twice and he took care of it fast! The equipment in the house needs some work. Oven and dryer didn't work. Neither did the toaster. Chris saved us again by bringing a working coffee maker. The overall cleanliness of the house left much to be desired. Nothing that a broom and a little wiping down couldn't take care of. You do need an SUV to make it up there. Stunning property grounds and sea view.
They need to keep up with maintenance better. Doors, screen doors and sliding doors all need cleaned and lubed/fixed. Pool was cold. Broken chairs, dripping faucets, leaking toilets, outdoor shower needs to be fixed are just some of the negatives. But, it was a beautiful view. The road up to the property is a bit hairy but manageable with a 4 wd vehicle. They did have nice beach chairs, towels and umbrellas to use for the beach. Overall good for the price.

Dear David,
We are glad that you enjoyed your time at our vacation rental. We appreciate your input on the items you think may need more attention. It is important to us to know what is not working when things come up. I had hoped you would have told me these items were not functional when I reached out to you during your stay. We will be addressing these items to make sure all is functional for the next guest. The pool and house are not heated as it is the Caribbean and typical temp. during the day is in the 80's .
Had a great time here with family. Listing was accurate. Reviews were accurate. Pool was a plus!
Had a great time here with family. Listing was accurate. Reviews were accurate. Pool was a plus! Short drive to Cane Beach and The Landing. Accessible to various parts of the island for beaches, snorkeling, fishing, horseback riding, shopping. Rent a jeep. Spent a few days getting day passes at various resorts to get different experiences. Rented beach chairs during the week. Somewhat of a drive to grocery stores so get stocked up early. Don't forget to get lots of water. We cooked breakfast and some dinners here. Used the grill as well. Some guests liked the bedroom a/c but others felt it was unnecessary. Nice view of the ocean and lush greenery on the property. We used the pool a lot as well.

We are so glad that you and your family enjoyed the stay at our home on St. Croix. It sounds like you took advantage of everything our house, garden, pool, and St. Croix has to offer. Thanks for your detailed review!
This was our first time to the island of St. Croix and it definitely won’t our last.
We arrived on the last flight to the island, I was worried that after a long day of travel that nothing would be open so I reached out to Chris the house Manager and he graciously stocked the house with some food items for us. Chris gave us excellent directions to the house and we had no problem finding it at midnight. The house is located up a short dirt road which was recently re-graded so it was easily accessible up to the paved driveway of the house.
The house is located within 20-30 minutes of anywhere on the island. We spent 10 days exploring the entire island. Cane Bay is a short 5 minute drive and there are four restaurants within 5-10 minutes (Rowdy Joes, AMA, Off the Wall and Eat at Cane Bay) you’ll want to make reservations for AMA. We loved the town of Christiansted, we went on a locals food tour which was a great way to learn about the history of the island and we enjoyed some great food.
The house was stocked with all of the supplies that we needed. Most homes on the island have cisterns for water so it was nice that the house had a charcoal water filter for drinking water, although the fridge was stocked with bottled water. We used the beach towels and the cooler when we went to the beach. The salt water pool was beautiful, it was nice to spend a few afternoons just hanging out at the pool. We quickly learned to embrace island life and enjoy the wildlife that we saw at the house; iguanas, hermit crabs, frogs, centipedes, geckos, beautiful cranes, mongoose and when even saw deer a few times as we drove to and from the property.
The favorite thing about this house are the views. We went out every morning to listen to the ocean waves, we watched cruise ships pass by, you can see St. Thomas in the faint distance and on New Years Eve the skyline was sprinkled with fireworks from St. Thomas and the ships docked near there. All in all we had a great trip and we enjoyed our time on the island.

Basic Facts
This trip was our first time to St. Croix. My husband & I usually put a lot of "stock" in reviews when purchasing anything online, so here is what we wish other reviewers would have told us about this property:
The house sits quite a ways up a very rocky road. It's really beyond a "dirt" road in our opinion, it's full of pot-holes and rough terrain - you WILL NEED a 4-wheel / AWD vehicle to get up to the property without blowing out a tire. Most of the roads in St. Croix are rough. I will say that by the end of the trip we were "used to" going up and down the road to the house, but that still didn't stop me from gripping my door handle every time! Ha!!
The house has a fairly nice layout: 2 master bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, on one "side" of the house, and 2 MUCH smaller bedrooms that share a bathroom on the other side of the house. The 2 smaller bedrooms are SMALL! We did not fully realize this just by looking at the pictures. One of the smaller bedrooms has a futon for a bed, which is very squeaky and sits pretty low to the ground. That "bed" can only hold 1 adult (barely) or 2 small children. The other small bedroom has a full size bed, but I doubt 2 adults could fit on it comfortably.
The two master bedrooms, along with their bathrooms, are a very nice size. It is important to note that the main master's bathroom does not have an indoor shower. We were a little surprised about this, thinking that the outdoor shower was just a nice bonus. The outdoor shower IS THE SHOWER for that bedroom. When we first realized that, we were a little disappointed, but by the end of our trip, we were LOVING the outdoor shower. It is quite the experience, and VERY PRIVATE. So don't let the thought of an outdoor shower scare you away - you'll enjoy it, I promise.
The swimming pool is a decent size, but we wish we would have know that there is NO SHALLOW END (except the stairs), so even my teenagers couldn't "play" in the pool, because they couldn't touch. This was really unfortunate, because that was one of the major reasons we booked this property. The pool is basically for doing laps or floating.
The property is secluded with beautiful landscaping all around it (along with a VERY noisy rooster). The view of the ocean from the property is gorgeous!
We would recommend bringing as much food as possible - The island is VERY EXPENSIVE!
We can't say enough good things about Chris, the property manager. He was very kind and helpful.

Thanks for your feedback, Kay. As you point out, one of the most appealing parts of our house is the secluded location with a gorgeous view of the ocean. Getting there is quite easy, but, as we are pointing out clearly in the description for our house on VRBO, the last ~¼ mile of the road leading up to the house is ‘bumpy’ and using a ‘4 wheel drive vehicle is recommended’. Some of our guests actually enjoy this part as it reminds them of the exciting nature of beautiful St. Croix. I am glad that you enjoyed staying at our house - we are constantly improving it to make it even nicer for our guests.

Not worth the high price
The ocean view is beautiful but the house itself feels very neglected. We love St. Croix, but this house for this price was a big disappointment.
We really enjoyed the property with great access to the north shore and easy to get around if you visit the island often.I would advise a 4 wheel drive as most of the roads are a little rough. Sharon’s house is very well maintained and they were great host.

Stay at Estate La Vallee
Location was where we wanted to stay. Great view and plenty of room. We have visited St Croix 7 times and this was the fourth house we rented all on North shore Cane Bay area. 2 of the 4 were cleaner overall. Inside wasn't bad but not as clean as we've experienced elsewhere. Outside cupboards were not clean, one had a number of mice. We had 5 cockroaches inside over the 11 days. Out door shower had very low water pressure so we stopped using what we thought would have been a great touch. The listing should stress renting an all wheel drive, high clearance vehicle. The road off Cane Bay Rd is gravel/dirt and very bumpy, a sedan would have bottomed out.
Great location, great house with just what we needed, super easy to work with house caretaker (Chris) - definitely recommend. Pool is deep but warms up nicely - not an issue if everyone can swim! Driveway needed a Jeep or something similar but in a way part of its charm! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there!
We loved so many things about this house and the property it sits on. You truly have privacy and really feel comfortable rinsing off in the outdoor shower. We had brief visits from a 4' iguana, all sizes of hermit crabs, a couple kinds of little lizards, and peepers sang us to sleep.
The inside of the house has great gathering areas with large couches and tables. The kitchen is well-supplied with utensils, pans, dishes, glasses etc., but you need to search through the cupboards to find everything. We used the grill outside multiple times.
If you want a 5-star resort, this isn't for you. It's authentic island living with all the quirks that entails.
The house manager is very responsive if you do have a question or problem, and the wifi was very reliable even when there were 7 of us using it at one time.
Could handle all the bugs but the rats were a bit much

Dear Scott,
Thank you for reviewing our rental property. Sorry to hear that you were not totally happy about your stay. We appreciate your comment and will ask our property manager to immediately address the rodent situation outside the house. However, as noted in the property description, and as you have experienced, our house is located in a very lush and jungle-like area that many live animals live in i.e. land crabs, chickens, dogs, birds, iguanas and unfortunately rats. Thank you for bringing this to our attention - we will take care of it as soon as possible. Sharon
Super comfortable with room for all seven of us to spread out! Air conditioning in the bedrooms helped everyone sleep well (though my husband and I didn’t use it). The pool kept my children and niece occupied while I watched over them with a gorgeous view of Cane Bay. We made use of every inch of the property, eating fruit from the trees, throwing horseshoes, so many games of billiards, the grill. Plenty of bath and beach towels, a cooler for excursions, well equipped kitchen, outdoor showers for rinsing off the beach sand, washer/dryer, close to a variety of local eateries (from casual to fancy).
And I can’t say enough about Chris, the house manager. He was promptly available and responsive for all our concerns. And I especially appreciate his detailed directions to the house, with pictures included because it may have been difficult to find otherwise since we arrived at night.
Would recommend this place for any group, family or friends. An amazing place to bond and find quiet time too. We could come together to play games, watch movies, eat meals, or find private moments too.

About the host
Hosted by Sharon
Sharon and Matthias are the owners of the Villa La Flamboyant. They fell in love with the property the first time they saw it. They have wanted to be part of the VI /Caribbean going back to the time they first visited many years ago and are delighted to share their special retreat and the joy it brings with others.
Why they chose this property
We feel the Villa La Flamboyant is a special place. It combines the serenity of a residence in the rain forest with the comfort of being close to the beach, bars and restaurants. When you stay at the house you are far away from the stress of everyday life and close enough to enjoy all what a tropical beach environment has to offer. It is a unique place.
What makes this property unique
Different people will enjoy different parts of the experience that comes with staying at our house. Some might fancy having coffee while taking in the beautiful views from the many vista points on our large property. Others will cherish taking a refreshing outdoor shower after an exciting day at the beach, snorkeling, or diving off Cane Bay. Yet others will savor spending time in the pool or prepare meals on the grill or well equipped kitchen. The spacious and open nature of the house and the sprawling backyard allows for families to enjoy each others company while also providing opportunities for individual activities. Arriving in late summer has the additional benefit of being indulged with fresh mangos from one of the oldest and largest mango trees on the island.
