About Linda Grimes
My parents met and got married on Oahu in the mid 1940s. My mother was a pilot and mechanic at Hickam Field. They moved to Georgia and I grew up there. I bought this land with my sister and mother and moved to Hawaii. I have spent much of my life traveling the world and now my sister has moved and i stayed and i am a jewelry designer. I still travel to Asia a lot searching for treasures for my jewelry, and have started this vacation home and the farming. I love plants and animals so this life has been great.
Linda Grimes purchased this Cottage in 1989
Why Linda Grimes chose Opihihale
When I first saw this property it was nothing but a thing called christmas berry but I knew it was where I should be. It was a long slow process turning it into what it is today, but worth every bit of it. Now, I just love being here.

Surrounded by Nature and Good Vibes #whatvolcano
Really cool and unique place surrounded by beauty! We stayed with our two young children, and they loved all of the lizards and gathering the mangoes and avocados. So many beautiful and unique plants surround the cottage. It is very private and a wonderful place to relax. The cottage is very well stocked from beach items to kitchen needs to toiletries. Linda is a very helpful and thoughtful host, and her sidekick cat was a huge hit with our kids! Go and visit Hawaii, don't be worried by the volcano. :)
Quiet and Charming Jungle retreat
Far from the overpriced hotels and resorts in the upper elevation of Captain Cook, you'll find the charming Hale Meow Meow. It's tucked up in the hills covered in tropical plant life. Mango, Papaya and Avacado trees surround you, and make for light and wonderful morning meals. (Best Avacodo toast I've ever made). You are one with nature here. All your senses get reminded of what it's like to step away from the hustle and bustle. We loved staying here. It was quiet. It was unique. It was the real Hawaii. If you love nature, quiet moments and kitty cats, then Hale Meow Meow is for you.
Really nice place
We stayed 5 nights at The hale meow meow. Linda and her cats nicely welcomed us. The place is really good, clean, calm in a beautiful tropical garden where you can hear the frogs during the night. Great place to stay on big island!
Secluded jungle hideaway
We really enjoyed this time that allowed us to truly go off the grid and unplug. The only neighbor was Linda and she was there if we had any needs or questions. I can't really say enough about her hospitality and the amenities she has for such a remote location. The grounds were like walking around in a botanical garden, the nights were peaceful with songs from birds and tree frogs and an abundance of stars! It was a memorable trip that we will never forget!
A lush and vibrant Big Island haven.
Linda is a great host with lots of attention to detail. The cottage is immaculate. Surrounded by lush greenery and open to the outdoors, this place gives an authentic Big Island experience. The sounds of frogs singing at night is unforgettable.
Wonderful, relaxing spot on the Big Island
Just south of Captain Cook, this was a fabulous place to stay and relax after days of hiking and swimming. We were lucky to have such a kind host, and we managed to do all of our goals except for finding flowing lava. Thank you Linda.
Great central location for all sights on the Kona side of the island. There are beaches as close as 5 min. or 15 min. and a National Park just 15 min. away.
The volcano National Park is only 1 1/2 hrs. away.
