New in our program, this home has many great reviews from past guests.

Greet the sun every morning at House of the Rising Sun. This superb ocean-side house is an easy walk from the ocean, located on a quiet street with direct beach access. It has a very inviting pool, a brand-new seven-person hot tub, and an outside shower. This home features horseshoe pits and two cruiser bicycles to enjoy! The first floor has a game room with a mini-fridge, a pool table, a TV, laundry facilities, and deck access to the pool and hot tub.

This floor also includes a full bath with semi-private access to a bedroom, which consists of deck. On the second floor, the guest bedroom also has deck access. The third bedroom has two bunks and a TV and DVD player. The fourth bedroom has a full bath and deck access. The bedrooms all have TVs.

The third-floor living level is open with vaulted ceilings, large windows, and decks providing sound and ocean views. It also includes a spacious dining area, an entertainment center with a TV and DVD player, and a sectional. The beautiful, updated kitchen provides everything you need, including a breakfast bar. House of the Rising Sun is within walking distance of REAL Watersports for all kiteboarding enthusiasts and local restaurants and bars.

The private pool will open seasonally from 04/01/2026 and close 10/10/2026. Dates are subject to change.
New flooring
You will be required to sign an additional lease agreement upon making a booking which will be sent to your email. You will not be able to check in until we have received your signature electronically. Please contact us directly if you do not receive this agreement.

Family Gathering

The House of the Rising Sun was spacious, clean and well equipped. It was close to both the bay and the ocean. There was plenty of seating for the eight of us. The beds were comfortable. We enjoyed our stay.

Family Thanksgiving trip!

Great vacation house

We had an amazing time at House of the Rising Sun. It had everything we needed for a wonderful vacation. You can't go wrong with this house. It's in the perfect area. Thank you for opening your home to us and we cannot wait to come back next year. Vicasa was amazing and I highly recommend them as your rental agent.

Grandkids loved this home.

since the ocean was winding and rough the grandkids loved the pool and we felt comfortable since the deep end was only 5 1/2 ft. deep. Pool was kept clean as well as hot tub. Vacasa had the home clean and spotless. Loved the top living space...very open and spacious. Has billard table and plenty of bedrooms and one is great for kids since it has bunk beds. Overall a great stay.

Great Location

The top floor living space is even nicer in person. The sunset views from the decks were incredible and despite being a few lots lots back from the beach we could still hear the ocean and its an easy quick walk. The bikes were a nice addition and we used them to head to Real for kite boarding and to pick up take out food. Lots to do in the off-season with horseshoes, pool table and hot tub. Great stay for a family vacation.

Great House

This house is really nice. The only negatives are that the listing says there is a full size fridge in the game room - It's not. The dryer will need to be replaced soon, but other than that this house is fantastic. Easy walk to the beach. The bikes were a huge hit!

Wonderful place!

My family and I loved our stay here. The home is beautiful and had everything we needed! We would love to see the mattresses replaced as they are noisy and not very comfortable. Also, the pool had not been vacuumed out before our arrival and was really sandy. Otherwise, we had such an amazing time and made wonderful memories (regardless of the weather from Tropical Storm Debbie). Thank you!

Great Early Fall Vacation !

We loved the house but the stairs were a little tough for little legs and my 77 year old Mom. We thought it would have been great to have had a bedroom on the kitchen level. The house was beautiful and the 3rd level was very cozy and offered lots of seating which was great ! There were a few ants to welcome us in the kitchen - so we sprayed a little and they seemed to be gone. We absolutely loved having a pool at the house and with kids it was a huge hit. There was a charcoal grill - but unfortunately it was really old and rusted and beyond a good clean. Overall, the vacation was great and we enjoyed the stay. Thanks for all your help in our short term rental.

November in Waves, NC

This was our first time to the Outer Banks and although we came during the off season there was still plenty for us to do. Waves is smack dab in the middle of the Outer Banks so we did have to travel a bit North when we wanted to see horses and some historical sites. But there was NO traffic this time of year so it was very easy. We felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves, because we did! :) We didn't swim but we did fly kites and enjoy exploring the beach for shells and found a few hiking trails in Avon that we enjoyed. The house was lovely and although my parents didn't like how many steps there were we all really loved the house and felt right at home.

Great house and location

What a great house! We stayed here during this past Nor' Easter. The major road in and out of OBX was closed so we spent plenty of time in the house and out for very short drives south towards Avon and Buxton. The house had everything you could need, was clean for the most part, just needed cleaning in the bureau drawers and behind the toilets, other than that it was clean! The listing states there is a hair dryer but we could not find one. The walk to the beach is very short, local deli's/market places, coffee shops. When the road was open it was about a 25 minute drive to the next major town in Kitty Hawk. Lots of restaurants and shopping. There is a shipwreck (the Priscilla) you can see from the beach, located just north of Avon.

Recommend

We had 9 adults, 1 child and this home was adequate for us. It is tastefully decorated, plenty of seating in living and dining areas. The kitchen area is small but is adequately stocked, refrigerator is large. Although a 2nd full size refrigerator in the pool table room would be very helpful, we had to keep ice in a cooler down there all week to accommodate our needs. The bedrooms are small but provide alot of storage in dressers, hooks and closets. The only down side to us was only 1 bathroom for 3 bedrooms of adults to share especially when getting ready to go out or after a beach trip. We appreciated the outside hooks for towels and wet bathing suits. We spent alot of time hanging out at the pool as the hike over the dunes was a little rough for me being disabled. The pool is in need of an update but we enjoyed our time there. There's ample seating at the pool and on the decks.

Quiet neighborhood on a cul de sac

We enjoyed staying at this house. Our in-laws are in their 70's so they struggled a bit with all the stairs to get in and out of the property but managed ok. We didn't pay extra to heat the pool so it was still a bit cool to enjoy it in May. We enjoyed the bulk of our time sitting on the beach and enjoying the relaxing waves. The beach access is just at the end of the street. We loved that there was not much traffic on this street. We also enjoyed going to eat at Waterman's Restaurant on Saturday so we could watch all the kiteboards. The three levels of the house allowed everyone room to relax. We liked the keyless entry so we could check-in when it was ready and we weren't worried about losing house keys. The top decks were great in the evening to watch the sunsets.

Details Matter

Upon arrival the house is nice looking but there was inaccurate advertising about there being a basketball hoop and hair dryer as there was neither. We were also greeted by some dead roaches around the house which was alarming. We notified the management but other than apologies nothing else was done. The house is somewhat outdated but comfortable. The kitchen had everything you needed to prepare meals, the beds were comfortable, the house was a short walk to the beach, the road was quiet, the enclosed pool area was inviting but the pool table was falling apart. Overall it was a good stay but we likely won't rent this home again.

Great vacation house just do not ask for the pool heat!

Highly recommend this house for vacation! Very clean and has everything you would need for your stay. One complaint is, I asked for the pool to be heated and it was not. Despite them telling me the heater was on, I know it was not! (I know about pools) Never kicked on once when we were down there. Pool service came out three days later, never addressed the hot tub, level way below jets. Tried to catch the pool service after we got back from the beach, was in and out before I could catch him. No refund for the heat charge, after multiple attempts of getting someone to come to the house to discuss the matter, no one came. Should of been more vocal about my complaint, but I on was on vacation. Just didn't want to deal with it. Recommend getting a new pool service!

To clarify, the pool heaters are set to maintain a temperature of 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the water reaches this temperature, the heaters will turn off and will reactivate when the temperature drops by 2 to 5 degrees. This cycling is designed to keep the pool at a comfortable and consistent temperature. We also acknowledge your concerns regarding the pool service and hot tub maintenance. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused and want you to know that we take your feedback seriously. This is not the level of service we strive to provide. Not happy with House of the Rising Sun

Not too happy with this house. The decks were on the wrong side of the house, there was absolutely no sun on the main deck at all. And the only deck to receive sun was a tiny deck. We ended up sitting in the driveway to get sunshine. The bathrooms were too small including the bathroom in the main bedroom. None of the tv’s worked properly! We asked for someone to come out for three days to fix the tvs but no one ever came. We ended up signing into our own apps to watch tv in this house. And it would have been nice to have some comfortable seating at the bottom level where the pool table was. But I did love the big open area on the main level. We were really disappointed about not having use of the deck.

There were 4 people staying in the home. The home was beautiful and functional.

We enjoyed the pool and the hot tub. We did a lot of cooking while there and the kitchen was nicely stocked. The only complaints we had about the kitchen area was the countertops were dirty, the dishes were dirty and the coffee pot handle was broken. I have a list of complaints concerning the house. These issues did not lessen our experience but I wanted to make you aware of them. The top level floors were dirty and there was a lot of long, white animal hair throughout. Someone left a bag of garbage on the top deck. The grill was full of used coals. There was only one jet that worked on the hot tub and the lights did not work at all. The air filters were filthy and really should have been changed prior to our arrival. The sliding glass door lock on the third floor would not latch. There were cigarette butts throughout the yard and ants in the kitchen. One of the beds had animal vomit underneath it. I know these are all individually minor things, but as you can see, they add up. Whomever is doing the cleaning at this house needs to be made aware of these issues.

Pros and Cons

House was beautiful, homeowners have great taste in decorating. Very relaxing. We had a great vacation after most of the kinks were worked out. House was NOT cleaned prior to our arrival, if I could post pictures I would. We were not given the proper amount of supplies.Paid to have heated pool, heat was not on until the day of arrival, not happy when you have to pay 60.00 per day to have heated. (was denied when we asked if we could heat for only a few days of our vacation). Water was cold up until Saturday afternoon. Pool company came and turned off heater on Wed of our stay, and filled pool with 2 inches of water, made pool cold again. Next day, water was down again, possible leak we were told. Outside garbage cans were completely filled. (3 of them) We were told we could checkin at 4 when making reservations. (then email stated 6 pm). Sharon L. in their Avon NC office was absolutely wonderful and helped us check in early. We were given a SMALL refund for our vacation. NO compensation on the pool issue. Would I stay at this home again? YES as I don't feel that its the owners fault. Vacasa needs to take MORE PRIDE in the homes that they rent, and also has a supervisor that does a physical check at the homes.

We really enjoyed our stay. The town was not super busy. The heated pool was nice, it could use a good cleaning around the rim, but otherwise it was great. I would stay there again. At the end of the road there was a nice walkway to the beach. The driveway was narrow, but you could easily fit two cars and then stack one more behind each one.
