Family-Friendly 1920s Two-Story Adobe House

Bedrooms 7
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

7 Bedroom/3 Bathroom Home on Three Acres

Built in 1920 by Mrs E.B. Quick, the Marfa Boarding House is a two-story adobe home that sits just inside the city limits of Marfa. The house fronts on Washington Street and is across the road from the historic Brite Ranch where you can see Mt. Livermore and the Davis Mountains to the north towering over Chihuahuan Desert Grasslands. The Marfa Boarding House is located on one of the highest hills in the city with wonderful area views, especially from the second floor porch and windows. The property consists not only of a 7 bedroom, 3 bath two-story main home, but also has a Casita, Barn, and extensive garden and grounds, all on three acres. The property has been remodeled three times in the last 8 years into a grand home with the current owner putting the finishing touches on this unique lovely Marfa heritage homestead.

Marfa Boarding House has also played host to several weddings and special events. We welcome the opportunity to host your special day. In order to rent our property for any event hosting more than 25 people, we require a non-refundable $1200 event fee. We also require that you rent both our main house and casita as any large gathering can be disruptive to another guest sharing the property. We also strongly recommend hiring on Marfa Magic Hour to help you with your party planning needs.

If you need more room and would like to add the casita to your rental, please see our VRBO listing #492441.

Why Mikelle Kruger chose Big Bend Country

The Marfa Boarding House is a family home. With six kids, this property was unique as it boasted seven bedrooms plus a casita. We love this house and have gone to great lengths to make it a home!

Beautiful house!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this house for a long weekend and had my wedding on the property. It was a fantastic place to stay and was so charming. All my guests commented on how great everything looked. Mikelle and Mariela were always prompt with their responses and very helpful. I definitely recommend this house!

Perfect for 3 generations!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful weekend--the house was so perfect for our needs. Whether visiting inside, on the lovely porches, or by the outside tables, it was so comfortable. The manager was very accommodating to our needs. With 6 little grandchildren under 4, we were thrilled to find highchairs, toys--everything we could need for little people. Thanks for a enjoyable retreat!

High Desert Perfection

  • 5 of 5

All 16 of my travel companions, the young and the middle-aged we'll say, loved this home from first sight! It was comfortable, it was decorated beautifully, it was spacious inside and out, and it had the perfect private setting just on the outskirts of town (and still w/in walking distance to everything!).

We cooked, we played, we relaxed, and had to pry ourselves away each day to visit town and the TransPecos Festival. It was a magical retreat from the city and left us all with that West Texas feeling that is hard to let go of. You should go there!

The perfect home to get that special Marfa ambiance.

  • 5 of 5

This home is absolutely beautiful and historic! It has so much offer and has A LOT of bedrooms! I had my dream backyard wedding here and it was nothing but a perfect place to hold a gorgeous ceremony and reception. Thank you Krugers for allowing us to become man and wife at your home. Much love, the Escajeda's.
