I am a third generation Charlottean, and my partner James has lived in Charlotte for more than 20 years, so we've got great insight into many things in town, whether it's the latest art opening, a new restaurant or the best place to enjoy a leisurely Sunday afternoon stroll.
We love offering our suggestions and recommendations so you can live like a local. We travel extensively ourselves, and have found there's nothing like personal recommendations to make the most of a new city.
Jim Hock purchased this apartment in 2013
We purchased this 4-plex in the Elizabeth neighbourhood, as it's very centrally-located, and it's hard to beat the vitality and walkablity of the area. Very near popular Plaza-Midwood, it's an ideal location for a city-break, or a longer stay for those interested in relocating to the city.
We greatly enjoyed our visit to Charlotte and believe that we were able to take full advantage of the city's opportunities because of your accommodations. Thank you so much for the great care you put into the building and our welcome. It translated to a wonderful stay.
We stayed in Hawthorn 1 for 4 nights in late April. The apartment is lovely and very clean. We ran into traffic on our drive in and were thrilled to find wine and snacks - as well as other beverages - waiting for us. Charlie was friendly and helpful and reserving the unit was a breeze. We brought our dogs and the neighborhood was perfect for long walks. There is a park nearby as well. There are many restaurants, coffee shops etc. all an easy walk from the apartment. The porch is perfect for morning coffee, lounging in the afternoon, or an evening glass of wine. We were very happy with the apartment and have already recommended it to friends. We'll certainly stay again next time we're in the area.
We stayed 4 nights at Hawthorn 1 in late April. The apartment was exactly as pictured - lovely décor and very comfortable. We brought our dogs and the surrounding neighborhood was perfect for long dog walks - shady sidewalks and a nearby park - the ground floor unit was very convenient. We arrived in the evening after a long day on the road and were thrilled to find wine and snacks waiting for us. The covered porch is a wonderful place for a glass of wine in the evening, lounging with a book in the afternoon, and morning coffee. The unit has a washer and dryer if needed and there a many restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Museums and other attractions are an easy drive. We will absolutely recommend the Hawthorn to anyone traveling to Charlotte.
This place is perfect. The location was great. There is a super cool mix of modern and vintage style in the design and feel of the property. Hospitality is top-notch and we would not hesitate to recommend this property to friends and family in the future.
The apartment is older (50s kitchen, bath), but it is a comfortable stay thanks to everything working, the cleanliness, and excellent furniture. From the art to the snacks to the dishwasher and washer/dryer with soap, this unit is a comfortable home away from home. The management was immediately responsive to any questions we had. We enjoyed walking to the many unique restaurants in the area. Had a GREAT meal/drinks at Intermezzo and fun dancing at Petra's. Several good places to go between those, which makes for an easy night out. The neighborhood is walkable, quiet, and nice. Parked next to building entire holiday weekend, so that shouldn't usually be a problem. Unless this is changed, only advice is to turn on the shower and then adjust the water temp.
I spent just under 5 months at this apartment and I really do not have anything negative to say about this rental. I was in Charlotte for work and enjoyed my stay. The few issues that came up were fixed/dealt with, in some cases, less than 24 hours. Apartment building and apartment were clean and well maintained. Furnishings are comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook a good meal or you a short walk will take you to some great places to eat too. There is ample street parking I was always able to park directly next to the building. The oven is old and took some getting used to, it runs hot so watch what you are making so it does not burn! I would definitely stay here again if work brings me back!
The Elizabeth neighborhood is one of the oldest in the city, with many locally-owned restaurants and shops within an easy walk and beautiful, quiet Independence Park just a couple of blocks away.
