About the property

Three kingsized bedrooms, three bathrooms, on the beach.

Casa Kiara in Sayulita, is a charming, completely private, casual beach house. Steps away from the sand at the quiet North end of Sayulita, it boasts indoor and outdoor living at its best. Palapas and infinity pool, nestled amongst the tropical landscaping, create a little oasis. A quick cab ride, or 15/20 minute walk into town along the road, or the beach, makes it just far enough away from the maddening crowd.

Take a jog or mountain bike ride through the jungle path right next door, or wander over to the next completely deserted beaches. Enjoy exquisite sunsets and the sound of the waves at your front door. Allow the jungle sounds to soothe you to sleep, and the pounding waves to greet your dawn.

Each bedroom has its own bathroom. Washer, dryer and maid service is included.

About Sue-Ann MacCara

Our family currently resides in North Vancouver, Canada. We purchased Casa Kiara to escape Vancouver's sometimes rainy greys! We love the flavour of Mexico, with its vibrant culture and beautiful people.

Sue-Ann MacCara purchased this house in 2013

Why Sue-Ann MacCara chose Nayarit

We fell in love with Sayulita the minute we arrived there. We purchased Casa Kiara after the first time we stayed in Sayulita. It was a perfect fit for our dream of living on the beach in retirement one day. It is unpretentiously adorable, like Sayulita itself, and fits our casual and easy-going way of life. I am from South Africa originally and the tropical birds, palm trees, wildlife and landscaping reminds me a lot of my childhood. The town of Sayulita is safe, friendly, bustling with just the right amount of shops, restaurants, vendors and helpful people.

What makes this house unique

The thatched roofs, infinity pool steps from the sand, casual out door living, and the fact that it is far enough from the maddening crowd, yet still very much part of a community, made us fall in love with our adorable little home away from home.

Home Away from Home

  • 5 of 5

This property is a beautiful, paradise getaway. The back of the home has an outdoor pool which overlooks the amazing beach! The beach is just steps away from the property and if you walk along it you are only a 20 minute walk from the main town. If you walk in the opposite direction, you are minutes from a beautiful hike which can take you all the way to San Pancho. The home itself has 3 beautiful bedrooms, all with their own private bathrooms. There is also plenty of outdoor space, with patios downstairs and upstairs (equipped with an outdoor bar!!). The kitchen is also great if you want to do your own cooking. The town itself has an awesome vibe and is a great place to go to find some delicious, inexpensive eats! Use the restaurant recommendations Cara Kiara provides, Los Corazones was spectacular, as were all the restaurants they recommended! I highly recommend this home for you Sayulita get away. It's quiet and relaxing but is also close enough to the town that you get a true, Mexican experience. Enjoy your stay!

What a house with amazing views!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned home from a week in Sayulita at the Casa Kiara. There were only four of us at the home, but another couple could easily have been accommodated with a private room and bath upstairs. The views are as incredible as the photos show, and the pool is awesome as well! There is always one area outside to find some shade to escape the sun for a bit, which was nice.

The kitchen was well appointed and had all the necessities to cook. There is no oven, but we did use the "pig" pottery BBQ outside to grill a few times. One great option was having Gladis, the woman who cleans the home a few times a week, come to cook an authentic Mexican meal for only $20 per person, and enough for lunch the following day! Well worth the money and very yummy!

All the bedrooms have ac, ceiling fans and mosquito nets, which kept the room temperature perfect at night. The house is open-air at the ceiling level, so the sound of the ocean was great to fall asleep to, when the waves were not too big!

We enjoyed everything about Casa Kiara, including the close walking distance to town, and being a little bit away from the crowds downtown. The one thing I would mention is there are quite a few sets of stairs, especially going to the two upstairs bedrooms, which might be harder for children or elderly folks to navigate. They are steep and no railing part of the way up. We were not affected by them, but would consider hazardous for some.

We hope to return soon!

Once in a lifetime spot

  • 5 of 5

The reality of this place surpasses even these gorgeous photos. Tons of space with very charming Mexican style and lush landscaping. Beautiful beach (though we were warned against swimming in the tide), perfect sized pool for hanging out. We planned to cook but mostly went into the super enchanting town for meals and we had Gladis (the housekeeper) cook us an amazing shrimp chili relleno dinner one night which was superb. There were some tricky areas to be careful of falling - ledges and stairs - but overall everyone was very comfortable. Everyone was extremely courteous and helpful. We opted to get a golf cart and cannot recommend it highly enough if you plan to go to town. The one down for us was that we caught the virus that was going around (Norovirus or as some told us 'the sayulita cleanse'), but Gladis was very attentive about cleaning the areas that the affected people had stayed in. Just mentioning to inspire everyone to use hand sanitizer. That aside, this was an incredible rental and the trip was a special treat for all of our guests. Thank you.

Tropical Beacfront Paradise Getaway Indeed!

  • 5 of 5

For many years, we have been coming to Sayulita and travelling throughout Mexico. Casa Kiara is the best rental accomodation we have had. We wanted oceanfront, with pool as we do not often feel comfortable any more swimming in the ocean in Sayulita. What sets Casa Kiara apart from many of the other places we have stayed is the work the owners have done and are continuing to do to upgrade and maintain this lovely property. What sets it head and shoulders above all is the generosity of the owners: an abundance of everything you need, such as water, towels, beach chairs & toys; a kettle; A teapot! Nothing is locked up, so if you need to do laundry, or sweep the floor or decks yourself, you can do that. I hope all their renters will appreciate their trust and generosity.

Certainly there are many grander, more luxurious places along the Pacfic Coast, but few as private, unique and cared for within walking distance to a lovely, lively pueblo. There are places where you will be pampered to within an inch of your life, but few where there is ... Enough, and no more.

Finally, because of the comfort and welcome, we spent most of our time at home, going into Sayulita once a day. No more was needed on this last leg of a long road trip, but to sit on the pool deck, with a book, looking up occasionally to ponder the waves as they crashed upon the shore beneath us.

Awesome home away from home in Sayuilta!!!

  • 4 of 5

Casa Kiara is a wonderful hidden gem just outside of Sayulita. We are a family of 2 teens & a 9 year old. Perfect location - close enough to walk to town - yet far enough out of the hustle & bustle of it all. Loved the space the home gave us - great kitchen, beach chairs & umbrella for the beach were key. This home is not for everyone - but we really loved it & it was great for us. The ocean is LOUD and adds to the character. Eric is the local house manager and fantastic for everything. Then town is awesome with many delicious restaurants & great to walk around. Nice surf break to the left of the house with the proper tides (other than that its unsurfable-shore break & not for people that are not strong swimmers). Overall, the house is a rustic jungle like treasure! We hope to be back someday!

Casa Kiara is one of the few stand alone beach houses in Sayulita. Surfing and stand up paddling available a short walk down the beach. It is far enough away from the busy crowd, but close enough if you like that. Be sure to take a catamaran trip with Allycat Adventures to the Mariettas Islands, hike through the jungle right next door, enjoy dining for well under $10 from the local taco vendors, or finer dining at your leisure. There are fabulous yoga options, fun boutique shopping, lots of jewelry shops, art vendors, but then you might just want to relax by the pool and sip margaritas!
