About Sherri

This vacation home has been in my family for over 40 years. My Dad loved it for the gorgeous views (you can see Catalina on a clear day!). It has been a labor of love... we planted over 400 trees on the property ourselves! My parents spent decades remodeling this beautiful cabin (some call it a castle :) and landscaping the surrounding property (it looks like a park). It was his dream to keep it in the family for many generations... so we've been renting it out to keep up with the expenses since he passed away. We love sharing this special home with others... and my Dad would have loved it too!

Sherri purchased this cabin in 1975

Why Sherri chose Running Springs

Since I was 4 years old, we traveled to the mountains every year to visit Santa's Village. And every year my Dad would stop at this property on the way and leave his business card at the home "call me if you ever want to sell it" he would say (he loved this property because of the sprawling views)! He was finally able to buy the property when I was 13... and it has been our family's pride & joy ever since! We came up every single weekend to fix up the house & plant trees... and we used to spend every Thanksgiving up here with our families (and many weekends) as we grew up and had families of our own (there are 4 children and now 8 grandchildren).

Magical Place!

  • 5 of 5

It was like a magical castle on a hill! Sherri was a wonderful host. She gave amazing instructions and there were signs all over the house with helpful information. The estate was beautiful and the house was spectacular! Everything that we could possibly need was provided for us. Sherri was very easy to communicate with and was available if we needed help. We had a very large group but there was plenty of sleeping room. The house has three beautiful bedrooms (two rooms with three beds and one room with one bed). There was also another bed in the loft and there were fully made cots in each of the closet as well as a huge couch in the living room. The game room was exceptional with more games than you could play in a lifetime, a self playing piano, old arcade games (quarters provided) and even a hot tub!!! Our group had a blast! There are beautiful places to take pictures or sit outside and enjoy the view. It was the perfect place to watch the sun set and rise. There is also a two story tree house! As if the place wasn't already perfect enough the kitchen was well equipped with anything we could possible need. We absolutely LOVED staying here and can't wait to come back!! TOTALLY worth the price!!! Thank you Sherri!!!!!

The property is really great. The view is breathtaking and the arcade is a blast.

I had a group of 11 for a weekend getaway. We watched Terminator, Alien, played poker and had a Connect Four tournament (sounds like a wild time, I know) and played on the arcades. Everyone had a great time and really enjoyed the place, especially the view and the game room. I would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a nice getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed having our staff retreat here. We had a bit of an issue with the stove but the owner was quick to respond to the need. Overall great stay!

Fun house, amazing property, and a lovely; responsive owner.

  • 4 of 5

We booked this house (castle) for a "Rogue Nation" camping trip (separate from YMCA). We had five dads and nine kids the place was perfect for this size group. Based on how much we all spent for YMCA trips to Camp Whittle we thought we'd get more bang for our buck booking our own place... boy were we right!

We stayed for three nights we really lucked out as we woke up to 7" of fresh powder and had a great day of snow play on Saturday.

The property itself is great with amazing city views from the balcony. We used the far left driveway (unplowed) to make a great sledding run. Then we had a couple snow forts built and a great snow ball fight with kids up in two level tree house.

The house is super cool with best features being washer / dryer, Jacuzzi, arcade, bar, and all bathrooms had bidet and heated toilet seats; can’t get this at Camp Whittle! Best part was our kids clothes were always dry. Really only thing we thought was missing was a fridge downstairs near the bar.

The owner is great, super detailed, and responsive. Helpful post-it notes are left all over the house.

To be fair to the owners I know most of these issues are already going to be taken care of come spring, but also need to report a few issues to give any potential renters an honest review:

- Master bedroom bed was super uncomfortable (going to be replaced) springs poking me and the room was very cold. I used the heating blanket that was provided and my kids and I were fine.

- The oven is really bad (we were warned in advance and also know its being replaced soon) so just needed to increase the temp and double our cooking time and all was fine.

- The tower room during winter was a bit of a challenge. We had counted on this space to have a dad and son sleep in there but since it also serves as “the mud room” it was not a great option and not fair for someone splitting the cost to have their room trampled though with wet boots. We had the kids enter down near the jacuzzi to keep the tower clean.

- There was also an issue with the Jacuzzi / Jacuzzi room. It leaks, the jacuzzi and the room itself. I had to top off the jacuzzi and then turn it on when I arrived so it took all day to warm up.

- Last issue was overall smell of the house. When we arrived the smell was really bad and very dusty. Not a great arrival experience. We opened a lot of windows to air out.

Overall we loved the house and would book again knowing the main issues will be fixed. This house has it all! THX

Owner's Response: Just a few notes...we've been trying to make repairs since Jan. 5th, but weren't able to because the large amount of snow we've been blessed with this winter prevented deliveries! As of March 8, our new oven & mattress have been delivered, & the spa leak has been fixed.

Beautiful cabin, and great getaway.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is beautiful, and has great amenities. The arcade games are really fun, the living room has ample space for everyone to get comfortable and play games, and the downstairs is a great place to do dinner.

We used this for a small youth group retreat and the kids loved it. We had 15 people sleep there. The only issue I would say is that the water tap runs really slowly, so you may want to bring your own water (unless it was just an issue during our stay? I'm not sure).

The owner was extremely helpful and kept us informed about weather/road conditions, and was very quick to respond.

Car: recommended

Nob Hill Cabin is nestled away in Running Springs which is a quick 10 min drive to Snow Valley. Skiers and snowboarders can catch big air and magnificent views while cruising Big Bear's pristine network of groomed powder trails. Time stands still as you get in as many runs as possible before the sun sets.

For over-the-top outdoor fun, take flight on a zipline high above the forest floor or race inner tubes in snow play areas where you can bank on plenty of the white stuff. Your kids will fill the air with laughter and beg for more.

Perhaps your idea of enjoying the great outdoors is from the warm indoors. Mosey over to a cozy Big Bear restaurant for a window table and a hot toddy while watching the scene outside that is reminiscent of a Norman Rockwell painting.

Back in the cabin, gather around a crackling fire and play games, read or snooze.
