Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

We spent 10 days in this home at the beginning of June. We were a party of 7 (5 adults and two young children, ages 6 and 4). The home is very comfortable and spacious. The bedrooms suited us perfectly and there was more than enough room for all of us to spread out. I was a little apprehensive upon arrival to see that there was not a proper fence around the property, but the children were never outside without an adult, so it was never a problem. The view is spectacular. The house is literally perched on top of the cliff with the waves crashing below. We could not have been closer to the water and spent many hours watching the turtles in the surf below. There is no air conditioning in the home, but with the windows open all day and night, there was always a sea breeze blowing through the rooms. My only negative comment about the home is that the bathrooms could use some attention. Maybe a remodel with more modern fixtures.

Poipu children's beach is just a 15 minute walk or five minute drive away. We spent many hours there snorkeling and saw a Monk Seal sleeping on the beach. The nearest grocery store is in Old Koloa Town, which is about a ten minute drive away. Koloa also has lots of small tourist stores and is a nice little place to spend an hour or so. The Nut Roasters store is worth checking out.

We cooked at home most evenings and made good use of the BBQ grill and patio table. Bubba Burgers is an inexpensive, no frills place to eat out and their burgers are delicious. They are located in the Kukui'ula Village Shopping Center, just a mile or two past Koloa.

The owner and Garden Island Rentals were very easy to work with and our booking was handled efficiently and in a very friendly manner.

I would absolutely recommend this home and hope to return to it myself one day in the not too distant future. We had an incredible vacation and this home was a big part of that.

Wonderful oceanfront property to view the turtles!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in this house for 10 days. It had a lot of outdoor space to spread out at and have wonderful oceanfront views. The house was very clean and comfortable. It appears to be an older house with some ad ons, with light switches in weird places and the floor plan is cut up. There is one main living area, with the ocean views and deck outside, comfortable to relax in, should you want to be inside. In July, its a bit warm, and this property does not have a/c. They provided fans, which helped, but it was a bit uncomfortable for our group from the Midwest. The ocean breezes definitely helped. We found that it was better to sit out on one of the many balcony's or decks to enjoy the outside world. We ate many meals on the lanai, they have a great table that easily accommodated our group. It was wonderful to be able to see the sea turtles from the balcony, at one time I could see 8-10, sized from18inches to 4 feet. Amazing!

We were a party of 7 with 2 parents, a grandma and 4 teen/adult "children". Having the 4 bedrooms allowed for everyone to have a bed, however 2 of the bedrooms do not provide much privacy, the twin bedroom has curtains in the doorway. The bedroom with the great ocean views is open to the living room below. The kitchen has the basics, a griddle and a cooler would have been nice (we left a cooler there).

Poipu Beach is 1/2 mile down the road, which is great for kids and adults. The snorkeling there was better than what you can get from the boat trips you might go on.
