Lou Nicolait purchased this House in 1973
Why Lou Nicolait chose Placencia
This location is the best in the village. Close to all the action, but as private as you want to make it.

Best Beach in Placencia!!
While not air-conditioned the amenities are phenomenal!! Had a amazing 10 day stay with my daughters, who fell in love with the place! Its location and ease of access by foot to Grocery and Town are wonderful and yet just far enough for Peace!!
Wonderful spot for a private vacation. 200 feet of beach all to your own. Great walk in ocean.
The beach house is well equipped, clean and has great ocean views. Lou & Joshlin are terrific hosts, providing services and advice we’ll beyond the normal VRBO.
Our third year at the Placencia Beach House and there will be more to follow.
Third time was the best yet!
Just returned from my third long stay (6 weeks each year) at Placencia Beach House. It is the perfect get-away, private, comfortable, great beach, easy walks to groceries, restaurants, and shops. Was joined by my daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons for 2 weeks. The house was perfect for the 5 of us. We all swam to De Tatch for breakfast (1/4 mile), one morning and walked to get gelato nearly every evening. Besides swimming, we went snorkeling with Wildside Adventures several times. Whether you’re looking to read in a hammock, rent a stand up paddle board, or take one of many available day trips, you’ll love coming back to the easy comfort of this house.
The house was nice and clean. The beach is beautiful. The house is relatively close to restaurants and etc. Joshlin was helpful in setting up activities. We also rented a Jeep and explored Belize a bit. Traveling within the country was easy. If you are not a heavy sleeper, you will have a hard time resting as the neighborhood dogs barked all night. Belize was beautiful!
We’re sorry the dogs were a nuisance during your stay and thanks for letting us know.
We have determined which dog was the ring leader and the owner now puts him inside at night.
Since he is now isolated the other dogs have remained quiet at night.
Clean, rustic, and peaceful.
My family and I really enjoyed staying at the Placencia Beach House. The location is superb: a big lot, right on the beach - far enough from the town center that it's quiet and feels private. A leisurely fifteen minute stroll along the sidewalk gets you to the shops and restaurants. The nearest supermarket is a five minute walk away. Our rental car sat unused in the driveway for the week simply because we didn't need it.
The house was the perfect place to relax, and an excellent backdrop for family bonding. It's very clean, and unfussy; rustic as I said before, but not lacking in any necessary amenities. The property is well cared for. My children (9 and 13) loved the hammocks on the deck. They must have spent hours swinging in them. I enjoyed falling asleep to the murmur of the sea and the breeze in the palms. The beach is great. The water is warm, calm, and swimmable. We were fortunate enough to witness two dolphins playing one morning at sunrise.
Last but not least: Joshlin is fantastic! She's kind, welcoming and very knowledgeable. She helped us book tours, gave us directions and recommendations and was helpful and available, while remaining unobtrusive.
Paradise in Placencia
We absolutely loved staying in this house! There were four of us staying there, including our two teenage daughters. The view was spectacular, and the wraparound porch (with hammocks) made it easy for us to enjoy the beach view during the day and the stars at night. The house is extremely well-equipped; it seemed as if anything that we could want in the house already had been anticipated. Joshlin was very helpful and available. It's not right in the center of town, but everything is walkable, including a very close supermarket and pharmacy. Not being right in the center of town affords a large lot and a good measure of privacy. We went to sleep with the sound of the ocean in our ears, and the house always captured a lovely breeze. We had a wonderful time in this house, and we would stay here again if we ever return.
The wonderful thing about Placencia Village is you can be as high tech or laid-back as you want. There are computer repair services and internet connections or tranquil freedom from all the technology devices.
Placencia Beach House is located at the north end of the sidewalk, the world's narrowest road, in Placencia Village, within walking distance of all the restaurants, bars, and gift shops. The North end is quiet and private, but near the action. You can party all you want without a designated driver, or lie quietly in your hammock in complete privacy. The friendly villagers speak English and are always ready to lend a helping hand. Fitness training and yoga classes, as well as, spa services are available. You can explore the village on a bicycle or ride up the peninsula for lunch at Seine Bight or Maya Beach.
There are several full-service dive shops that cater to both the beginner and experienced diver. Instruction is available for certification at all levels.
Some choose to simply enjoy the snorkeling. The dozens of offshore cayes (pronounced keys) each have fringed reefs and the Belize Barrier Reef, 18 miles from Placencia, is second to none. Many of the wonders in tropical waters are only one foot below the surface.
Some claim that Placencia offers the world's best fly fishing. The fishing guides were born in Placencia and learned secrets from their fathers that have been passed down for generations. Besides catching bonefish, permit and tarpon, you can troll for kingfish and barracuda, or catch your own bait and simply hang out at the cayes with a drop line.
About 30 miles from Placencia, off the southern highway, is the Cockscomb Basin Jaguar Reserve, the world's first reserve established to protect this endangered species. Don't expect to see a jaguar. but you can go river tubing, hike to the waterfalls at the top of Tiger Fern trail, or climb Victoria Peak, the highest peak in the Cockscomb!
A little further to the north on the Southern Highway, you can visit Mayflower Archaeological Reserve and hike to Antelope Falls or Bocawina Falls, or arrange with Bocawina Adventure Tours to go zip-lining through the canopy forest or repelling down the water falls.
To the south, on the Southern Highway, you can visit the archaeological ruins of Nimli Punit and Lubaantun. During the same day, you can take in the massive cave at Blue Creek Village where Maya artifacts were found by modern archaeologists.
