Holidays made easy

  • 5 of 5

We (family of 5) spent two relaxing weeks in this lovely home in late October/early November 2017. The house is very well equipped which made our holidays really easy. We often went to the Beach Park nearby using the bikes or the kayaks - all we needed (including life vests for the boys) was available. The pool was mostly closed at this time of the year (we used the hot tub instead), but we did enjoy using the tennis court (no fees - and nobody there, so it was mostly our court). Rackets and balls? All just in the garage ready for use. Going to the beaches - just grab the parasol and enjoy the white sun and the clear waters, e.g. at Siesta Key or Manasota Key! Cooking is a feast in this excellently equipped kitchen and this does include spices. Thus, all the little things you usually have to look (and pay) for in a vacation home are provided - no worries at all! Port Charlotte is conveniently located, so that we went to Tampa for a football game, visited Universal Studios in Orlando (check out the Hulk rollercoaster - still having flashbacks from looking down to the very first looping from front row), and joined alligator- and manatee-watching tours in the Everglades (with Naples as starting point). Dwight was a very generous and discrete host - always available when needed and never intrusive. All information needed is neatly presented in the folders in the house, so there is little help needed. Dwight did provide us with his marvelous fresh dark roasted Indian Monsooned Malabar coffee beans, and for the first time in the US we enjoyed really excellent coffee. He even gave us a second bag during our stay (and graciously ignored the chaos the boys had made). We had a most wonderful time in El Sol Naciente (which clearly was the best vacation home we have had ever). We will certainly be back if we should be in Florida again. Many thanks indeed to Dwight and Maria for hosting us!

Owner's Response: Dear Tim, Gunhild & Family, It was a such a pleasure to meet you all and to have you as guests in our home. You are the reason we stay in the vacation rental business. We are so happy that you enjoyed your holiday, Port Charlotte and our home. We welcome you all back any time. If we are booked we will make room in our home in Sarasota. If we make it to Germany, we will definately look you up and go out for some sushi! Kindest Regards, Dwight & Maria

The Anders' home in Port Charlotte was everything it was advertised and more!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and our dog, Maisy thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and won't hesitate to rent here again. Port Charlotte Beach Park is a perfect get away just down the street and enjoying a cocktail sitting on the dock watching the sun set over the canal was a perfect way to relax and unwind on our vacation. I even caught a keeper mangrove snapper off the dock, (even though I released it). The bikes and kayaks and hot tub all add up to a perfect vacation in Florida and respite from the cold up north. I encourage anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay in the Port Charlotte area to look no farther than El Sol Naciente!

Beautiful home, everything we wanted, and more!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a fun and relaxing vacation in Port Charlotte. Dwight made sure we had everything we needed, and was always just a phone call away even though he was out of state on vacation himself.

The home was remarkably well equipped with everything we needed and then some! The community park is a five minute bike ride and has tennis courts, bocce ball, a boat ramp, beach and a pool with nice bathrooms. Restaurants and shopping are near by. We drove down to Everglade City and had a great time at Wooten’s. We also spent a day at Siesta Key Beach.

We couldn’t have had a better time, especially since back home in Michigan they had snow storms and single digits temps all week!! We are now packing up and preparing to go home to white out conditions and a feels like temp of -3. Agh!

Ist HomeAway a Success

  • 4 of 5

The owner of this beautiful home was more than accommodating. I didn't understand the location so that was purely my fault so when I read 5 minutes to beach etc I thought we were on the "ocean". The park at the end of the neighborhood was nice just run-down. We did make a day of it tho and enjoyed and made sure we got to two beaches the next couple of days . Had a lot of expenses with Lyft and or Uber but again that was on me. We had multi-generations in this home and it definitely accommodated . The kitchen was amazing and stocked beautifully . We had a 1 year old and it was great not to bring a high chair and or pack and play. The master bedroom was great and the bed very comfortable. There was a problem with ants in the master bath and ALOT in the porch room. The only negative was 2 out of the six bikes were broken and we had 6 riders ; there was no bike infant carrier as listed , the stroller was rusted and couldn't be used, the beach umbrella was missing a major part, so I would update the equipment available so the travelers aren't counting on those things . When we arrived I'm assuming the previous visitors had a dog because there was pet hair and a smell throughout the living room . I do appreciate the ability to communicate with the owner as he WAS easy to communicate with .

Owner's Response: I hesitated to respond to this review. As can be seen from our other 24 reviews, I attempt to provide the best vacation home in Port Charlotte. I contacted this guest many times to determine any special needs or requests. I also use this communication to get the guest’s preferred house code. Eventually, I just had to leave a message with a code of our choosing, so they could get in. We do have a child carrier, but we don't always keep it there if there are no children staying at our home. One bike had a loose seat. The seats are adjustable and can be loosened or tightened by flipping a lever. One bike had a flat tire. There is an air compressor, tools and spare inner tubes next to the bikes. The important missing piece of the beach umbrella slides inside the umbrella tube for storage. This was there. How many owners even provide beach umbrellas, beach chairs, coolers, wagons, bikes, kayaks, tennis, basketball, volleyball, bocce set, fishing equipment and much more? We always give our home a thorough cleaning before each new guest's arrival. Ants can be a problem, especially during the rainy season as they look for higher ground when their nests are flooded. We apply an exterior perimeter treatment as we do not want to use poisons inside our home when possible. We use natural pest control whenever possible. Outside porches are not the easiest to keep totally bug free. As far as the other cleaning and odor issues, when we arrived at our home after they left, we were taken back by the odor and condition of our home. We found several soiled diapers under pillows and in beds. We found food in every room all over the house, including uneaten sandwiches and plates of food left under blankets and sheets in the beds. It took us hours to clean and deodorize our home. We used commercial ozonators and ended up replacing several pillows and blankets instead of trying to wash them. I hate to respond to any of my guest's reviews in a negative way, but I felt I had to address the review for any of my potential future guests. Even though this was a 4-star review and many owners are happy with 4-stars, please read our other reviews for, what I believe, a more accurate review of our home. Thanks for reading this and I hope this does not come across like I am an "angry old man" if mid 50's is old. Regards, Dwight

About Dwight Anders

Hello. We live in Sarasota, about 50 minutes from here. We purchased this house as our retirement home, so you know we actually like it here. We have 4 children, 1 still at home. We are avid boaters & divers and love Charlotte Harbor and the Port Charlotte area. As you will soon notice, this is not a house it is a home. We furnished it to be enjoyed. It is not just another income producing piece of real estate, it is part of us and we are a part of it.

We truly hope you enjoy it as much as we do. We hope the time you spend here will produce some of your best memories. We know it already has for us.

Why Dwight Anders chose Edgewater

The house is completely renovated with a great kitchen, everything for entertainment as well as a relaxing and romantic outdoor adult area which includes a private hot tub and tiki bar. This neighborhood is very unique. It is quiet and friendly and it surrounds the Port Charlotte Beach and Pool Park. There is no through traffic in this neighborhood as every street is a quiet cul-de-sac, so walking and biking is a peaceful experience.

What makes this house unique

As quiet as this neighborhood is, it is only 1 mile from the business district of Port Charlotte. The hospital, shopping mall, dozens of unique shops, restaurants & bars, mini & regular golf as well as Historic Punta Gorda and Fisherman's Village are all just a few miles away. With six bikes available there is a lot to explore.

Whether you bring your own boat or you use our kayaks, access to the 200+ miles of Charlotte shoreline from your own private dock.

Being in the middle of Florida's Suncoast means that you are an hour or less from dozens of amazing beaches. From the nations #1 rated beach, Siesta Key, and it's quartz crystal white sands in Sarasota to Beautiful Boca Grande on Gaspirilla Island at the mouth of Charlotte Harbor, down to Sanibel and Captiva Islands in Ft Meyers, you have many choices.

We are also only 2 1/2 hours from the Disney World Complex, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, Lego Land as well as the rest of Orlando's attractions.

What ever your reason for your tropical getaway, we are sure that you will find something to satisfy your needs.

El Sol Naciente, The Rising Sun. Most who visit the West Coast of Florida know about and look forward to the gulf sunsets. But after buying this house the one thing we noticed morning after morning was the watching the beautiful sunrises from the master bedroom or the private hot tub or the lanai. We are situated on a canal off of Alligator Bay between the Myakka & Peace Rivers at the north east end of Charlotte Harbor. This is a beautiful tropical area known for it's fishing & boating. Our house is located about 1/2 mile from the Port Charlotte Beach Park. Just a short walk or kayak trip from the house. The park has a small (usually uncrowded) beach, a public pool, Basketball, Tennis, Volleyball & Bocce courts, horse shoe pits and a playground for the kids. We are on a quiet cul de sac neighborhood only 1 mile from Rt 41 and all the restaurants, shopping and conveniences of being close to town. There is a nice miniature golf course just down the road and Punta Gorda and its beautiful downtown and Fisherman's Village are just minutes away. The beautiful Gulf Beaches are about 20 miles away and Siesta Key and Sanibel Island are about an hour away. For the young at heart, we are under 2 hours from Busch Gardens & Lego Land and a little over 2 Hours from Walt Disney World.
