The Evergreen A-Frame - Walking access to the AT

A private, peaceful getaway set on a Christmas Tree Farm with a private pond. Ideal for couples and small families, the cabin features a cozy queen bedroom plus a comfortable sleeper sofa in the living area—perfect for kids.

Just a ½-mile walk to a major Appalachian Trail access point, it’s a perfect base camp for hikers. Located between Hagerstown and Frederick, it also offers easy access to area hospitals and medical centers for visitors or work stays.

This A-frame cabin was custom-designed by the host and embraces the ‘tiny home’ theme of minimalism, but with luxury touches and all the essentials for a perfect stay. The house features high-speed WiFi, modern heating and cooling for year-round comfort, full-sized bathroom and kitchen, and a suite of safety features, including smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and a residential fire sprinkler system.

The Evergreen A-Frame is located on a 10-acre property that is part of a family-run Christmas Tree Farm - it includes a serene private pond and both wooded and field views. Mature trees and ample open space surround the house, providing seclusion and year-round beauty. This is the perfect place to connect with nature without sacrificing comfort or charm.

In addition to serving day hikers, our proximity to regional airports makes our place the perfect meeting point for family and friends supporting a thru-hiker on their journey. We’re within 1.5-hour drive to BWI (Baltimore-Washington), IAD (Dulles), DCA (Reagan), and MTD (Harrisburg) airports, and 30 minutes from Harpers Ferry, another popular meet-up location.

Our location offers convenient access to nearby healthcare centers in Frederick (Frederick Health Hospital / Frederick Memorial Hospital) and Hagerstown (Meritus Medical Center), making it a relaxing option for those visiting family, attending appointments, or traveling for work.

The property is also perfect for visiting nearby Whitetail Resort or Liberty Resort for skiing, snowboarding, or tubing, being an easy half-hour drive to each.

We’re also centrally located to numerous State Parks (Greenbriar, South Mountain, and Cunningham Falls, to name a few), historic Civil War battlefields (including Antietam, Gettysburg, and Monocacy), award winning wineries and breweries, wedding and event venues, and charming historical towns.

Please note that the stairs to the loft bedroom, while meeting residential building code, are steep and may be difficult for guests with mobility issues.

The living room sofa quickly and easily converts into a comfortable, second queen-sized bed - sheets are stored in the dresser in the loft, while pillows and a comforter are available upon request but are not kept in the house - please let us know if you'd like these provided (if your reservation includes more than 2 guests, they'll be provided automatically).

Pets: While we love pets, we do not allow pets in the A-Frame at this time.
