!!!!! READ BEFORE YOU BOOK !!!!!
• No Wi-Fi at this property! **
• Soak up the scenery
• Vacation without technology
• Unwind, relax, de-stress
** WHY NO Wi-Fi? Locally, internet service is only possible via satellite service. Typically a completely clear line of sight between the dish at our house and the satellite's path is required for the system to work and we don't have that because our location is, luckily for us, heavily wooded -- 100 feet tall trees surround this property in all directions and these beautiful trees would have to be cut down to achieve the needed line of sight. We, along with our many happy returning guests, prefer the trees !!
*** Awesome sunsets and stargazing are frequent pleasures at this property! ***
*** SLEEPS 2 guests -- Couples' Refuge from the crowded Yosemite Valley area
(... only occasionally can we accommodate a 3rd guest -- a small child only -- please ask about this option)
*** Weekend stays always require at least 3 nights in summer and 2 nights during quiet season
*** Forest Setting - Beautiful Sunsets - Glorious Starry Night Skies
*** 38 stairs up the outside stairway
*** Very clean unit, furnished for comfort, with a bright atmosphere; ideal for 2 guests. Dine on your own deck surrounded by forest! Tree-top views and long vistas out to the horizon!
*** Location is in Yosemite West, a small development of private residences, at 5700 feet elevation!
*** Driving time to Yosemite Valley: approx. 25-35 minutes
*** There is NO internet at this home and only very limited cell reception inside the park
NOTE: ~ No reservation will be accepted if the availability calendar is such that only one night is left vacant between an already booked date and the newly requested reservation's dates ~
-- SO MUCH MORE THAN A MOUNTAIN CABIN!
-- INSIDE the Entrance Gates of Yosemite! Avoid long waiting lines at the gates during peak season.
-- Only 12 miles to Yosemite Valley, 7 miles to Badger Pass, 16 miles to Glacier Point, 20 miles to the Wawona area and Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias
-- Avoid commuting in and out of the park ... this location is through the gates and INSIDE the park -- (unlike those labeled **near** Yosemite, or **close to Yosemite** such as in Groveland, Mariposa, El Portal, Fish Camp, etc.)
-- Treetop Views: there are 38 stairs from the parking area to the mid-level floor where treetop views and glorious sunsets await you! Stargazing at its best!
-- The Red Door apartment is part of a duplex property; because this is the mid-level unit, you may hear footsteps and other sounds of occupancy coming from the unit above, please expect this. Soundproofing has been applied to address this matter.

~ off-peak season minimum stay: 2 nights ~
~ holiday periods may require 4 or 5-night stays ~
~ one-night stays: only when 1 weeknight is available between already booked dates
Yosemite's splendors are within easy driving distance: the three most popular visitors' destination areas within the park are: Yosemite Valley floor, spectacular Glacier Point and Wawona and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Redwoods - each less than a 25 to 30 minute drive from the house!
This private residence was built in 1999 to take full advantage of the unobstructed westerly views ... No neighbors in sight when you look out towards the western horizon and nothing between you and glorious sunsets and millions of stars.
-- Clean, bright, and furnished for comfort, this unit offers that special feeling of home-away-from-home.
*** THE RED DOOR Apt *** (on the mid-level floor): one of the two units at this duplex property, is a one bedroom/one bath unit (575 sq. ft.) plus a 375 sq. ft. deck. It has lots of windows, long views to the Western horizon as well as forest views everywhere else. Fully equipped kitchen, bath with shower over tub, and a sunny deck with plenty of deck furniture and a gas grill for BBQ's.
***INTERNET and CELL PHONES: unfortunately, due to the mountainous region and our unique and heavily forested location, we are unable to access any satellite signal at this time. Cell phones in Yosemite have very spotty reception, if any at all, except for the Yosemite Valley area -- a cell signal booster we just installed may provide limited connectivity but consider yourself ** disconnected ** while you are staying at this property.
*** There is no cable TV -- bring your favorite DVDs
*** Very important house rule: Quiet Hours from 10pm to 7am
*** Window A/C unit -- in July and August (at our elevation the night temperature goes down significantly).
*** A land line telephone with local service is included and you may use your calling card.
*** 4-night stays include use of the laundry appliances.
*** Guests must be able to climb several flights of stairs to access the 2 units in this property.
*** This is a duplex property; this unit shares the common spaces with our larger rental unit -- shared areas are the parking area and outside stairway; guests will hear sounds of occupancy from the house above
*** OUR GUESTS: Our vacation home has been enjoyed by couples on their honeymoon, and many anniversaries, several **I'll be asking her hand** events, and many book lovers, romantic stargazers, painters and photographers.
*** TIOGA PASS (Hwy 120) closes early each winter due to snow and opens in early summer - please check before planning your traveling route.
*** WINTER Season and TIRE CHAINS ***
Tire chains may be required by the park during the winter months. Call us for more details.
*** Activities in the park are many: fishing, hiking, rock climbing, biking, bird-watching and much more. More active folks can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, sledding, ice skating, river rafting, and horseback riding to name a few.
*** This is a place away from the crowded Yosemite Valley floor, a place for evening relaxation: sit back and enjoy the wind whispering through the cedars, pines and dogwoods; stargazers can marvel at the clear night skies with millions of stars while listening to the sounds of the forest from the deck!
Yosemite offers world-famous scenic views and a variety of activities for everyone, year around. A few examples of the many organized activities offered are: free art classes (watercolor, sketching & drawing, etc.), morning photography walks, a Valley Birdwalk, special programs designed for families and children, and so much more.
*** Enjoy Yosemite's scenic beauty ... and the conveniences offered by a vacation house inside the park ... you will be amazed!
