This Beautiful 1 bedroom, 1 bath Condo is just an elevator ride and steps from the oceanfront park where you can BBQ or watch the Surfers and sea turtles, or just lay out on the lounge chairs. If you don't like the Salt water you go in the Complex's Pool instead. During the Fall you can Sit on the Lani and watch/cheer-on the Iron-man Runners. The Volcanoes are just a short drive and Magic Sands Beach is just a short walk. If you don't want to walk the shuttle stops right out front. We have an on site manager and security on grounds.

Everything we needed

Thanks for opportunity to stay in this condo, it was everything we needed. Location was perfect for us as we enjoy going to Kahalu’u beach park. Also close to the movie theaters, craft market and close enough to the shops and restaurants in Kailua. All were within a short drive. The condo was clean and had all the appliances, pots, pans and utensils needed for an easy stay. We saw several Sea Turtles behind the building.. Would definitely stay again.

Homely, comfortable and complete

My wife and I spent 5 nights at the Ratliffe apartment, and we really felt at home and comfortable from the moment we entered. The apartment is quite spacious and cleverly designed, with a large balcony overlooking Ali'i Drive. I guess most people would prefer a view of the ocean and sunsets from the other side of the complex. but I liked the cool afternoons without the sun beaming in and being able to watch all sorts of big island life go by on the road.

The location is fine. In my opinion a car is essential on the big island to see the sights. So it is no real inconvenience to drive to find a beach or shops, nothing is too far away.

We ate in on some occasions, and the kitchen was fine and had everything we needed.

I would love to one day spend more time on the big island and would definitely stay here again. I think it provides great value for money.

"Staycation" for whale watching

We came over from Hilo for a short stay to do some whale watching. The location of this condo is good, we like to walk on Alii Drive in the mornings so this is good for us, but it's far enough out from the downtown to be a little quieter at nights. The unit faces Alii Drive, not fancy but is clean and adequately furnished with kitchen stuff and what you'd need for a longer stay (beach toys etc). We didn't need fancy, just coming over for a place to "crash". Bed was comfortable, enjoyed the lanai, ate breakfast out there, Wifi worked well. It was cool enough while we were there we didn't need the AC, just ran the fans at night. Pool and spa looked enticing but we never made it down! Parking was easy, that can be an issue in Kona. It was a good value. We enjoyed our stay, would definitely come back and do it again, and would recommend it to others. Mahalo!

Had everything we needed.

It was as advertised. Close to the water, with all the equipment we needed. Loved the beach chairs and sun umbrella. Hope we didn't wear them out.

The only downside was the traffic noise from Ali Drive but it was usually quiet when we were sleeping.

I would stay here again.

Great place to stay while in Kona

Our 4th time at Kona Bali Kai and our 2nd stay here. The location is great for nearby beaches, parks, shopping and the sunsets here are as good as anyplace on the island. The owners are great to work with. The condo is roomy and has everything needed for a great vacation. We cook our meals a lot and there are plenty of dishes and cookware. There are chairs, coolers umbrellas and plenty of towels for the beach The air conditioners are brand new as is the super quite dishwasher. The wi-fi, cable TVs and all the other appliances work great. Da Poke Shack is on the 1st floor and has great food, get there early because they sell out quick. The Banyan store is right across the street and is open late. The pool is nice and clean . The reserved parking spot is very convenient. Had a great stay and can't wait to return. Thank you!

Basic but comfortable accommodation

We stayed five nights and were happy with what was offered to us in the condominium although the air conditioning unit was extremely noisey and disturbed our sleep at night. The trolley bus stop outside Kona Bali Kai was a huge asset as the accommodation was quite a walk to Kailua Kona. Overall though the accommodation met our needs.
