About Susan L O'Connell
I purchased this property from my parents in 1979. I enjoy operating a small family business. Some of our returning quests are in the 4th generation of the family, since coming to stay with us. My husband maintains the property, offers charters on our lobster boat 'Susie-Q', and is the assistant harbor master.

Why Susan L O'Connell chose Wells
It is 'Off the beaten path'. It has beautiful, uncrowded, peaceful green areas and yet is just one mile up the street from the ocean.
What makes this Cottage unique

Drake Island Stay
We enjoyed our stay very much. The cottage was clean and the location was lovely. Can't beat the price. Hope to return soon. The only suggestions I would make would be to place hooks on the back of the bedroom doors so there would be a place to hang towels.
Charming, cozy and quiet. Enjoyed that it was close to the beach. Would not hesitate to book again. We had a great stay!
Very clean , quiet! Beautiful perennial gardens painted the landscape.
very convenient to beaches, restaurants and stores.
My family loved it
We are definitely coming back. The cottage is clean and bright. Susan is a great host.
The property is well maintained. The view from our cottage is serene looking out over the salt water marsh. I loved sipping my morning tea on the porch. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you need to have breakfast and meals. The beds are comfortable. We have really enjoyed our mini vacation. Thank you, Susan.
Our property borders 2 wildlife preserves (Laudholm Farm and Rachel Carson) with walking trails and delightful bird watching. Kayaking in the salt marsh is a popular activity, with rentals nearby. Drakes Island Beach is just under one mile from our property. A lovely white sand beach, with nothing commercial, just a beach to enjoy sunbathing, swimming, beach combing, and strolling aside the surf. Wells Harbor is just a mile and a half away. There you can enjoy the beautiful scenery, go fishing, rent kayaks, paddle boards and jet skis, or charter a fishing boat. A marina and a few seafood restaurants are located at the harbor, and seasonal outdoor concerts are held at the harbor park. The town of Wells offers many excellent restaurants, shops, antique shops, golf course, miniature golf, movie theatre, as well as grocery stores, department stores, and pharmacies The picturesque villages of Ogunquit and Kennebunkport border the town of Wells, and we have a train station where you can board the Down Easter and travel north to Freeport, and south to Boston.
