About this property

Walk to Forest Park & Zoo · Family-Friendly Home

Your century home steps from Forest Park, the Zoo, and the best of St. Louis.

Picture this: the kids are already racing across a fenced double-lot backyard while you pour the first cup of coffee on the oversized front porch. In eleven minutes you can walk to the Zoo entrance. Tonight you'll gather around the fire pit; tomorrow you'll cook a real family dinner in a kitchen that has everything you need. Welcome to Parkside Getaway, a beautifully restored 1920s home in the heart of walkable Dogtown, built for families and groups who want comfort, character, and an unbeatable location.

Why guests pick this home: Walkability is the headline. You're steps from Forest Park, the Zoo, Art Museum, Science Center, and the Muny, with restaurants and coffee shops 5–15 minutes away and the airport a quick drive. Park both cars on your private off-street pad and leave them all weekend.

Designed for families: Sleeps 7 across three bedrooms and 2.5 baths. The primary suite has a king and a recently added en suite. The second bedroom has a queen plus a bonus room. The third has a twin and a twin daybed with a trundle that converts to a king. Downstairs: laundry, a brand-new bathroom, and game tables (air hockey, foosball).

Travel lighter: We've stocked the home with a high chair, booster, infant bath, portable crib, baby gate, kid wagon, and bins of blocks, puzzles, and games. The kitchen is fully equipped (dishwasher, oven, stove, microwave, kettle, blender, toaster, two coffee makers). Smart TVs in the living room and every bedroom.

The outdoor space: A private, fully fenced backyard on a double lot is one of Dogtown's rarest treasures. Play yard games, relax around the fire pit, or take your morning coffee on the oversized front porch. A short walk down the road brings you to a brand-new playground near the Zoo.

History and character: This home just turned 100. You'll notice a few lovable quirks — creaky floors, unique angles — alongside thoughtful modern updates. It's perfect if you value craftsmanship and authentic neighborhoods; less so if you want brand-new construction or a resort-style setting.

The neighborhood: You're in the heart of Dogtown, surrounded by local restaurants, pubs, and parks. It's a lived-in setting, so you may occasionally hear friendly city sounds. Time your visit right and you can step into Dogtown's famous St. Patrick's Day celebration.

Good to know: Self check-in via keypad; check-in after 4 PM, checkout before 11 AM; 2-night minimum; Instant Book on. Exterior Ring cameras at the entrances (never inside) and standard noise/smoke monitoring that never records conversations. No pets, no parties, no smoking inside, no food in bedrooms. A fully refundable $375 hold is placed at booking and released 5–7 days after checkout, plus a short rental agreement.

Book your St. Louis home base. Families come for the Zoo and Forest Park and leave already planning the trip back. We'd love to host you!

My husband and I lived in Dogtown when we were newly married and started our family here, and it will always feel like home to us. This neighborhood truly shows St. Louis at its finest, with historic homes, walkable streets, and a welcoming community. We're excited to share the charm of Dogtown with guests so you can experience the area we fell in love with! As a family with young children, we prioritize families with kids and aim to make traveling with children as easy as possible! We have all of your toddler/baby needs here at Parkside Getaway! If not, please ask!

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this property the moment we saw it. It's the perfect blend of Dogtown's historic architecture and modern comfort, all in a neighborhood that has meant so much to us. The home has the character and coziness that makes St. Louis special, along with a spacious double-lot yard that's rare in the city. And the location truly is unbeatable: just a 10 minute drive to downtown, the Arch, Busch Stadium (Go Cards!), the new soccer stadium, Missouri Botanical Gardens, Union Station, and so many other iconic St. Louis attractions!
