Visit the charming town of Monte San Savino or the first Etruscan city of Arezzo, rich in history, architecture, as there are many basilicas and churches to visit, and valuable works of art by Renaissance artists, including Cimabue and Piero della Francesca. The city is also known for traditional festivals and historical performances, especially the Giostra del Saracino. Cortona, the main cultural and tourist center of Val di Chiana, is a day trip away, as is Lake Trasimeno. Do not miss a visit by ferry to the islands of Polvese and Maggiore. The area around the lake is also full of trekking or cycling trails.
