Lovely Home, great location, renters should be aware of some things
My family of 7 adults and 2 children (7 and 5 yo) stayed at this lakehouse and were joined for 3 nights by 4 friends. The owner allowed us to have an additional guest (for added fee) to permit 1 guest beyond the limit. Even with 13, the house and its amenities proved to be very comfortable. Our week was marked by hot and sunny weather so we were especially appreciative of central air conditioning.
When we arrived we were surprised to learn that there is a small house directly in front (lakeside) of the house partially blocking the view of the lake. There is no deck or outside eating area. The lawn that is to be used for this property is offset from the house in front of the garage. The lawn provided ample space for lawn games (many lawn games, like cornhole, were provided). There is no shade on the property and members of your party might be tempted to find shade in the neighbor's adjoining yard. The neighbors pointed out the boundary and we did our best to abide by it. They were pleasant and mostly we did not see them. My advice is to bring umbrellas or shade tents. Though hot by day, the location was great for sunsets.
Upon arrival I checked the lake access and it was not up to expectations. The main dock was ok, however, it is up quite high from water level which is only 4 ft deep. The children could easily jump in but adults used a ladder. The ladder was 4-5 rungs of metal, the bottom one looking as if it would break. The water access for kayaking was frankly a mess, not just seaweedy but filled with sticks and muck. Another dock area is sloping and has a board pulling up. I immediately contacted the owner and he offered to come the next day. He came and placed wooden slats on the ladder rungs and raked the boat access area. It helped but I would advise you to be aware that lake access conditions are not great and to be especially careful with children. Definitely be sure everyone has water shoes. Once we made our way into the lake, we all had fun.
We rented a boat for 2 days at the Frontenac Marina which is very close by, within walking distance. We toured two wineries traveling by boat and went to lunch lakeside at a restaurant directly across the lake in Seneca Falls. We brought life jackets to be safe but found that the owner has a very good selection and many for kids.
We were very close to nature hikes, another winery and great restaurants in Aurora. The owner was very responsive but needs to improve the water access.
"Plenty ofbroom, beautiful views, gorgeous sunsets and a big yard"
"The lake house was as advertised! Plenty of room, beautiful views, gorgeous, sunsets, and a great big yard…… Big enough to do whatever. The owners were terrific, accessible to answer questions. We had our family there for the week 4 couples and 2 grandchildren, perfect! More than enough room for everybody. I really liked that the dining room table seated the entire family. I would not hesitate to recommend this place. "

Great, spacious location to gather family
We recently spent a week at this lake house right on Cayuga Lake in the little town of Union Springs. We are a family of 8 adults and 4 children (3 and under) and we never felt cramped. There is a living room at the front of the house and a huge Great Room in the back overlooking the lake. We appreciated the long lawn between the house and lake because of the little ones. We took advantage of the tandem kayak and lawn games provided. There are also plenty of lawn chairs and a refrigerator in the garage. The owner, Pat, was wonderful to work with! He responded quickly to any inquiries and was open to suggestions. He also went out of his way to suggest other rentals for another family who joined us for the week! Although the weather wasn't stellar we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves hanging out in the Great Room playing cards, games and watching movies. If you bring a boat, the marina is a block away and there is a playground next to that. Grocery store is less than a mile down the road. Wineries are minutes away. The only negative I can come up with is the close proximity of the front of the house to the road so that the front bedrooms can be a bit noisy due to traffic but didn't really bother us. All in all a wonderful week!!
Great lake getaway!
Our very large family enjoyed this property for a long weekend. Upon arrival there was a lovely welcome letter and the home appeared well maintained and very clean. The bedding and towels looked new and overall the environment was spacious and comfortable. We had an extremely relaxing stay with plenty to do both indoors and outdoors and never felt cramped with the number of people we had. We were all very sad to leave and can't wait to visit again as a family getaway. This would be great for family reunions!
