We welcome you and your group to stay in this all-new, custom-built beach home located in the desirable Cape Shores neighborhood in Lewes, Delaware! Walk or ride your bike to the calm bay, community swimming pool, fishing pier or tennis courts and make your vacation one to remember in this quiet community. 8 Sandpiper is freshly appointed and ready to accommodate your entire family with more than 3,000 livable square feet of space. With a reverse floor plan built on pilings, all living space is above street level with bedrooms on the first floor, while the top floor houses the kitchen, living space and master bedroom.

Locals love Lewes for its historic roots, laid-back beach lifestyle and its natural beauty. Vacationing in Lewes provides close proximity to the Rehoboth Beach boardwalk and Tanger Outlets without all of the crowds and Route 1 traffic. Book your stay today and get ready to relax, spread out and enjoy this vacation home away from home!

Located on a quiet kid-friendly cul-de-sac with minimal car traffic, 8 Sandpiper can fit four to six cars in its driveway with additional parking for two cars available on-street. Once you arrive, each guest will be welcomed with new plush mattresses, free wifi, TVs with a full cable package as well as USB charging ports in select areas of the house. Enjoy the contemporary design of this new-construction beach home (Built in 2013) including wide-plank white-washed hardwood floors, walls of windows, more than 800 square feet of deck and a tankless water heater so your group will never run out of hot water!

To get to the bayfront beach all you have to do is walk out of the cul-de-sac where 8 Sandpiper is located and up to the bay. This is all within the neighborhood and should take about 5-10 minutes. There are no major roads to cross, however you will need to watch for cars within the neighborhood. If you want to go to the ocean, we suggest Cape Henlopen State Park which is right next to Cape Shores which is about a 5 minute drive. Note, there is an entry fee to get into Cape Henlopen, unless you ride your bike or walk into the park!

Enjoy preparing a family meal from the spacious bright white kitchen with a large serving peninsula, granite countertops and brand-new stainless steel appliances. A dining room table for 10 fits the entire family for dinner or enjoy a crab feast al fresco on the large screened-in porch which seats 8 comfortably. A separate bar sink installed in the peninsula makes preparation of cocktails easy and the open layout ensures the cook is still connected to all of the action happening in the great room and dining area.

With five bedrooms and a large den with pull-out sofa, a total of six private rooms (all with double window exposures) are ready to comfortably host your group at 8 Sandpiper. Best of all, none of the rooms share walls for your ultimate privacy and peace of mind! Just unpack your bags for restful sleep in each spacious bedroom and enjoy the cooling comfort of ceiling fans in each room.

Four bedrooms on the first floor feature one king bed, three queens and one twin bed. Two junior master suites have attached bathrooms with shower stalls, granite counters and walk-in closets. Junior master suite number one is outfitted with a queen bed and attached balcony with peek-a-boo bay views and a private sitting area. The second junior master suite features a king bed and offers a wide sliding glass door with access to the lower rear deck for a quiet, shaded area to read or relax. Bedroom three is appointed with a queen bed featuring two large windows, flooding the room with light. The fourth bedroom on the first floor sleeps a total of three, also with two large windows. A third spacious hallway bathroom with granite counters and tub complete the first floor. The first floor hallway also features access to the front and back decks and the laundry facilities making washing towels and bathing suits a breeze.

Walk up the wide oak stairs to the second floor to the huge open-concept kitchen, living and dining areas perfect for large group gatherings. Walk out to the large rear deck through one of three sliding glass doors that line the great room to enjoy the sunshine and bay breezes. Tucked behind the kitchen, the den features a flat-screen TV, DVD player and plush sectional seating for watching TV and is perfect for popcorn and a movie. A half-bath is also located across from the den for easy access from anywhere on the second floor. Finally, enter to the master bedroom suite featuring a king bed, large walk-in closet and beautifully designed master bathroom. The master suite bathroom features a custom stone tiled shower stall with bench seat and granite double sink vanity. The master bedroom is the only bedroom on the second floor, however the den is equipped with a queen pull-out sofa and pocket door to stand-in for a sixth bedroom if needed.

Cape Shores is the quintessential beach community, located between Cape Henlopen State Park and the Cape May-Lewes Ferry dock. Homes in Cape Shores are either on the bayfront beach or just a short walk away, 8 Sandpiper is two houses away from the beach and sits directly across from the community tennis courts. The neighborhood has easy access to the beach for sun-bathing, swimming, kayaking, fishing, sailing and any other water activity. Amenities offered at Cape Shores include a private fishing pier, swimming pool with clubhouse, tennis courts and beautiful sandy bayfront beaches. All guests are to provide their own linens including sheets for all beds and bath towels. They offer a wide selection of linens and will deliver to 8 Sandpiper and even put sheets on the beds if requested.

About Kelly Cofrancisco

8 Sandpiper Ct. is owned by the Cofrancisco family who has been vacationing in Lewes for more than three decades. Our family started out camping in Cape Henlopen State Park and has vacationed in many neighborhoods in Lewes over the years and eventually bought the lot at 8 Sandpiper Ct. in the early 1990s.

Kelly Cofrancisco purchased this house in 2013

Why Kelly Cofrancisco chose Lewes

Cape Shores is a great community with a family-friendly feel and its close proximity to Cape Henlopen State Park is what sold us! Building this beach house has been a dream of ours for years.

What makes this house unique

8 Sandpiper is one of the few rental properties within Cape Shores that is located on a cul-de-sac, which is great for children. This property was newly built in 2013 and is one of the few new construction homes available for rent. The neighborhood is the last stop before Cape Henlopen State Park, making it the closest you can get to the park!

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a wonderful weekend. We enjoyed the privacy and quiet of the neighborhood. We spent a lot of time on the beach, and back at the house in the great room. The openness of the kitchen/great room worked well for our family. Everyone loved our time here. We look forward to coming back.

The home was clean and comfortable, beautifully decorated, plenty of bathrooms, nice outside shower, plenty of storage space. The development is quiet, beautiful private beach and nice pool! Kelly's place is very well maintained, well equipped and a great set up for a large group.

  • 5 of 5

It was very clean when we arrived and there are a lot of instructions on how things work such as trash days etc. We enjoyed the larger, well appointed kitchen and multiple decks one of which is screened - a great place for an outside meal.

Wonderful Women's Week-end

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home for our 12th Annual Wild Women's Week-end( more name than action!) and could not have been more pleased. The house was spotless, well appointed, has ample open gathering space and great bedrooms. Close to the shops of Lewes and the trails of Cape Henlopen. We had a great weekend of yakking, shopping, cooking and of course a few bottles of wine.

Beautiful House

  • 5 of 5

This is the best experience we have ever had with a VRBO. The house is so beautiful and appointed with everything you could possible need. Our relatives were visiting from Wales and we wanted a place that could hold the entire extended family (Eleven adults and two small children). This house met all those needs and more. The open living/dining/kitchen area is perfect for large gatherings but there are plenty of places to retreat for quiet time. The house is so close to the Cape May Ferry and Henlopen State Park. They were both top on our list for things to do.

We would love to come back again! The Weir's/Chesapeake Beach,MD and Annapolis, MD The Mitchell's/Timonium, MD The Mitchell's/Charlottesville,VA The Levitt's/Baltimore,MD The East's/Wrexham, North Wales The Kellaher's/Bangor, North Wales

The City of Lewes, Delaware is located where the Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean meet, in an area known as Cape Henlopen. The naturally beautiful area with beaches on both the ocean and the bay, trails, and nature preserves add to the many reasons to visit this small historic town founded by the Dutch in 1631. In addition to natural beauty, this charming city offers a wonderful historic district, with architecture dating back to the 17th century, museums, special tours, cozy accommodations, restaurants to please any palate, and unique shops and local boutiques all within walking distance of each other. There is something for everyone - year 'round including fun educational activities and tours, live music and theater, outdoor activities, an independent film festival, an award-winning farmers market, and so much more!

8 Sandpiper is approximately 1.5 miles from the historic district of the City of Lewes, Delaware. To get into town, take an easy scenic bike ride down the wide shoulders Cape Henlopen Drive, turn left on Savannah Road and head into town for a stop at our favorite ice cream spot, King’s Ice Cream or enjoy a margarita and some guacamole at Agave Mexican Restaurant, another one of our favorites.
