Locals love Lewes for its historic roots, laid-back beach lifestyle and its natural beauty. Book your stay today and get ready to relax, spread out and enjoy this vacation home away from home!
THE HOUSE
Located on a quiet kid-friendly cul-de-sac with minimal car traffic, 8 Sandpiper can fit four to six cars in its driveway with additional parking for two cars available on-street. Once you arrive, each guest will be welcomed with new plush mattresses, free wifi, TVs with a full cable package as well as USB charging ports in select areas of the house. Enjoy the contemporary design of this new-construction beach home (Built in 2013) including wide-plank white-washed hardwood floors, walls of windows, more than 800 square feet of deck and a tankless water heater so your group will never run out of hot water!
THE BEACH
To get to the bayfront beach all you have to do is walk out of the cul-de-sac where 8 Sandpiper is located and up to the bay. This is all within the neighborhood and should take about 5-10 minutes. There are no major roads to cross, however you will need to watch for cars within the neighborhood. If you want to go to the ocean, we suggest Cape Henlopen State Park which is right next to Cape Shores which is about a 5 minute drive. Note, there is an entry fee to get into Cape Henlopen, unless you ride your bike or walk into the park!
THE KITCHEN
Enjoy preparing a family meal from the spacious bright white kitchen with a large serving peninsula, granite countertops and brand-new stainless steel appliances. A dining room table for 10 fits the entire family for dinner or enjoy a crab feast al fresco on the large screened-in porch which seats 8 comfortably. A separate bar sink installed in the peninsula makes preparation of cocktails easy and the open layout ensures the cook is still connected to all of the action happening in the great room and dining area.
THE BEDROOMS
With five bedrooms and a large den with pull-out sofa, a total of six private rooms (all with double window exposures) are ready to comfortably host your group at 8 Sandpiper. Best of all, none of the rooms share walls for your ultimate privacy and peace of mind! Just unpack your bags for restful sleep in each spacious bedroom and enjoy the cooling comfort of ceiling fans in each room.

Bedroom three is appointed with a queen bed featuring two large windows, flooding the room with light. The fourth bedroom on the first floor sleeps a total of three, also with two large windows. A third spacious hallway bathroom with granite counters and tub complete the first floor. The first floor hallway also features access to the front and back decks and the laundry facilities making washing towels and bathing suits a breeze.
THE SECOND FLOOR
Walk up the wide oak stairs to the second floor to the huge open-concept kitchen, living and dining areas perfect for large group gatherings. Walk out to the large rear deck through one of three sliding glass doors that line the great room to enjoy the sunshine and bay breezes. Tucked behind the kitchen, the den features a flat-screen smart TV, DVD player and plush sectional seating for watching TV and is perfect for popcorn and a movie. A half-bath is also located across from the den for easy access from anywhere on the second floor. Finally, enter to the primary bedroom suite featuring a king bed, large walk-in closet and beautifully designed primary bathroom. The primary suite bathroom features a custom stone tiled shower stall with bench seat and granite double sink vanity. The primary bedroom is the only bedroom on the second floor, however the den is equipped with a queen pull-out sofa and pocket door to stand-in for a sixth bedroom if needed.

About the host
Hosted by Kelly C.
8 Sandpiper Ct. is a family beach house, we have vacationed in Lewes for more than three decades. Our family started out camping in Cape Henlopen State Park and has vacationed in many neighborhoods in Lewes over the years and eventually bought the lot at 8 Sandpiper Ct. in the early 1990s.
Why they chose this property
Cape Shores is a great community with a family-friendly feel and its close proximity to Cape Henlopen State Park is what sold us! Building this beach house has been a dream of ours for years.
What makes this property unique
8 Sandpiper is one of the few rental properties within Cape Shores that is located on a cul-de-sac, which is great for children. This property was newly built in 2013 and is one of the few new construction homes available for rent. The neighborhood is the last stop before Cape Henlopen State Park, making it the closest you can get to the park!
