Enjoy the amazing panoramic ocean view from this beautifully appointed condo. Our unit was completely remodeled! Tasteful decor and accents can be found throughout the entire unit. Much thought and love went into the remodeling as it is not just a vacation rental, it is also our second home. This is not the typical vacation rental condo.

This beautiful 1 bedroom and 1 bath unit is best suited for 2 people! There is a King size bed with a memory foam mattress in the bedroom. The 485 square foot unit can sleep up to a maximum of 4 people since it has a Queen size sofa bed in the living room; however, please be aware that it may be too tight for 3-4 people (when the sofa bed is pulled out there is not much room to walk around in the living room area).
There is a wall-mounted air conditioner in the bedroom (only). Not all other units in The Kuleana complex have air conditioners.
Central air conditioning is NOT permitted in The Kuleana complex. Air conditioners are only allowed in the bedroom.
In addition, there are 2 ceiling fans in the unit (1 in the living room & 1 in the bedroom).
There is also a Vornado portable fan in case it is needed.
The bathroom contains a beautiful walk-in shower. There is no bathtub in the unit. Please note that the vanity and sink in the bathroom is high (vanity is 36" high plus the marble vessel sink on top is another 5" high) making it difficult for small children to reach.
Linens & Towels:
All linens, bath towels and beach towels are provided for your use during your stay.
Washer & Dryer:
The unit is equipped with a clothes washer and dryer. Not all units in the complex have them. In addition, there are 2 laundry rooms nearby on the property.
Our unit is located on the 3rd (top floor) so there is no foot traffic to disrupt your privacy and experience. The Kuleana is not a high rise condominium complex. There are no elevators on the property. There are 3 flights (7 steps per flight) to reach our unit. There is no one above us and only 1 unit next to us separated by a block wall for privacy.
It's all about the view! A large sliding glass door in the living room leads to the lanai (balcony). Take in the views of our neighboring islands of Lana'i and Moloka'i while dining on our private lanai. There is a bar height table and 4 bar stools on the lanai for your dining. Maui living is all about the outdoors. The sunsets from our lanai are spectacular! You may find it difficult to leave.
The Kuleana Complex:
The Kuleana complex consists of 7 low rise buildings (no higher than 3 floors). The lush tropical grounds are beautifully maintained. Each unit on the property is individually owned. The Kuleana complex is best suited for adults as it is generally quiet and geared for relaxation.
The Kuleana Complex Location:
The Kuleana complex is located in West Maui and has a Lahaina zip code (although it is not directly located in Old Lahaina Town). The complex boasts a truly remarkable oceanfront location. It offers more seclusion and privacy versus a resort hotel, but yet is close enough to have all the perks of resort amenities just minutes away.
The Kuleana complex is conveniently located within a short drive to Ka'anapali/Whalers Village (3.4 miles), Kapalua (4.5 miles), Old Lahaina Town (6.5 miles) and Napili (3.3 miles) where you can enjoy a wide variety of shopping, dining, entertainment and outdoor activities.
We also have a Farmer's Market just down the road providing delicious produce and treats every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Kahului International Airport (OGG) is the main airport on the island. It is 30 miles from the condo (approximately a 45 minute drive without traffic). If you are flying to Maui directly from the mainland, you would fly in to the Kahului Airport (OGG).
Kapalua Airport (JHM) is .6 miles from the condo. It is a 2 minute drive. The Kapalua Airport is a small regional airport that mainly operates inter-island flights (to/from other Hawaiian islands).
Beach & Pool:
The Kuleana property fronts 2 beaches. Our unit is approximately 45 yards from the smaller private feeling beach cove. Please be aware that the beaches are subject to the currents and tides. Winter months are less predictable and the beaches can recede overnight. The beaches do not get closed down; however, the amount of sand/the size of the beach fluctuates.
The unit is near the large gated and heated pool (pool length is 20 yards).
Beach towels and 2 Tommy Bahama beach chairs are provided in our unit for your use during your stay.
There is a resurfaced tennis court on The Kuleana property available on a first come first serve basis. Tennis court hours are 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM (or until dark in the winter months).
There are 4 oceanfront gas barbecues available on property so you can grill while taking in the gorgeous views of the ocean and our neighboring islands of Lana'i and Moloka'i.
The barbecues are a very short walk from our unit yet far enough away so that you do not see or hear barbecuing activities from our lanai.
There is free and convenient on-site parking for one vehicle. The parking spaces are a bit tight so keep that in mind if you are renting a very large vehicle. Parking is close to the entrance of the unit making it easier to unload your luggage or groceries.
Free WiFi internet access is available inside the unit as well as the lobby area.
Please note that the purpose of the unit is primarily for relaxation and is not intended to serve as a home office.
NO smoking is permitted inside the unit, the lanai (balcony) or any of the buildings on the property.
There is an Activities Desk located in our lobby that can assist you with reservations for activities, cruises, tours, entertainment, etc. Maui dining, entertainment and activities information booklets/brochures can also be found in our lobby.
NOTE: No surfboards or SUP (stand-up paddle) boards are allowed to be brought inside the unit or kept on the lanai.
We are privileged to have world class golf courses nearby (within a 5 mile radius). The Plantation Course in Kapalua which is home of the PGA Tour Tournament of Champions is only 4.8 miles from the condo.
NOTE: Kapalua's Plantation Course, annually rated as a top 100 golf course in the world and consistently ranked as the “Best Golf Course You Can Play” in Hawaii, will undergo a multi-million dollar enhancement project. On-course work is expected to begin in February of 2019 and be completed in November 2019.

About Lily Jensen
My husband and I have a deep love of Hawaii and have visited 6 of the 8 major islands. We purchased our slice of paradise on Maui because it has so much to offer! Maui topped Conde Nast Traveler Magazine’s Best Island in the US list for 22 consecutive years. We love Maui's spectacular beaches, weather and beautiful scenery. Maui is referred to as the "Island of the Sun" and we love the warm weather and being in the sun. Maui is especially significant for us because we were married here. Maui is our "happy place" and as they say, Maui no ka'oi (Maui is the best).

West Maui is known for its beautiful beaches, great shopping, fine dining and fun activities. We chose The Kuleana complex in West Maui because of its gorgeous oceanfront location! It is a hidden gem. Having a beautiful view was a priority for us as we spend the majority of our time on Maui outside or on the lanai (balcony). The view from our lanai is truly amazing, making it difficult to leave the unit. We were also impressed with the grounds at The Kuleana. They are beautifully maintained. If you can tear yourself away from the view, the property is within a 5 mile radius of excellent restaurants, shopping, world class golf and numerous activities. The property is not in the midst of the bustling tourist areas of Maui yet close enough to hop in the car and access them when desired.
What makes this Condo unique
Due to our view of both islands of Lana'i and Moloka'i, we are able to see the sunset any time of the year. Honu (Hawaiian green sea turtles), are known for swimming in shallow waters and frequent the waters fronting our complex year-round. Just remember: look, but don’t touch. These turtles are an endangered species.

If you like turtles, this is the place to stay. We saw at least one each day we were there. One afternoon we went snorkeling with six turtles that were grazing seaweed on the nearby rocks.
The unit is located close to Lahaina with all kinds of dining and shopping options. Some good hiking along the coast up north.
The place itself was clean - bathroom and kitchen have nice upgrades/remodel. I do agree with someone's comment that the mattress probably should be upgraded next. Nice views from the patio and awesome airflow and breeze.
Really enjoyed our stay here! Condo was nice and clean and was well equipped with everything you need. Loved the views and enjoyed seeing several sea turtles! Would love to stay here again!

Amazing stay !
We had the most amazing time at this condo . Lily has pretty much set it up perfectly for an enjoyable stay . The decor was beautiful it was very clean and had pretty much all the amenities needed for a great beach vacation . Our views were absolutely gorgeous we had the pleasure of many whales each day and on several days some unbelievable rainbows. We sat on the beach below and watched the sunset while sitting with many turtles . We will most definately return and hope we have the chance to stay at this unit again . It was perfect for my husband and I it may be a little tight for more than 2 but is doable . The only thing I didn’t find was an iron in the unit but that would be the only negative other than that it was absolutely perfect . Location was great near many beaches and great restaurants too.

What a fantastic week!
The condo is modern, clean, beautiful, efficient, and conveniently located. The photographs and descriptions given for this unit are genuine and accurate. The unit is well stocked with kitchen, bed & bath, washing, and beach supplies/items that are necessary and useful for a week's stay. I would suggest checking into the unit before making any purchases (other than foods) for use here.
Parking is a challenge because of the narrow spaces-stay within the lines, the lines are your friend.
Location, location, location...every morning we sat on the lanai and watched whales-BREATHTAKING! They were within sight-albeit a distant sight-which we found extremely entertaining, interesting, enjoyable, and relaxing. The height of this unit is immensely advantageous to seeing the whales. A lower level unit would not provide this view. I was a little concerned that a three-story building was in front of this unit, but the concern proved to be unfounded. Again, the photographs are an accurate depiction of what you will see from the lanai. And then there are the green sea turtles...WOW! One afternoon we sat on the small beach (in the beach chairs from the condo) and watched one or two turtles eat and swim among the lava rocks! Another afternoon, as we enjoyed the longer sandy beach just to the east of the resort, we watched as FOUR of the turtles came out of the sea to sun and rest on the beach! One of the most amazing things I've ever seen! Humpback whales and green sea turtles right before our eyes from this condo resort! I'll go ahead and say it, PRICELESS!
We recommend renting this unit with no hesitation. And when we return to Maui, we shall stay here!

Lily's property is everything you see in the photos. The remodel is gorgeous & the view spectacular!
One of the reasons that we chose Lily's property was the beautiful view from the lanai and the ability to see the whales from here. Our first day we walked down to the ocean and saw young turtles in the ocean and an adult sunning on the beach. One day we captured a picture of a young turtle popping its head out of the water. And the whales!!! No matter what time of day we were enjoying the lanai, we saw whales passing by. On our last morning, we felt like there was a whale parade wishing us Aloha. One whale was smacking its tail ~ we counted over 20 times! Unbelievable! I loved using our binoculars, but my husband thought they were close enough he didn't need them. Of course, the sunsets were stunning. The rhythm of the waves crashing against the shore was so soothing. We loved it! The main living space shared this spectacular view.
On the practical side, we felt the ceiling fans with the sliding door opened provide sufficient comfort. We did not find a need for air conditioning. All of the rooms, supplies, storage, and the in unit laundry made it a perfect home away from home. The location was convenient to traveling around the island for us.
We would definitely choose to stay at Lily's home again.

Had a wonderful stay
Beautiful condo and grounds. Everything was as promised. Nicely updated condo that was perfect for us. The condo backs to the parking lot and has the pool below and another condo building in front but because of the height view is not obstructed of the ocean. The condos on one side drop down one level so you only have a neighbor on one side. Patio is large and private. Condo spotless. Grounds are very well maintained. Clean grills, pool cleaned every day. There is a book exchange in the office/club house area which was nice to get a new book and leave yours behind. Only deltas are parking spaces are a bit tight and you can get a little road noise if you are early to bed and prefer window open instead of AC in the bed room not big deals to change the overall experience. I do love that the condo is on the top floor because the view is enhanced and it is also more private than the ground floor units (we do not have people walking past our condo looking inside). As you mentioned, our condo is on the end of the top/3rd level and because the building drops down we only have a neighbor on one side giving us more privacy than the units in the middle. I do agree that the parking spaces are a bit tight but that allows each unit to have one space to park onsite. The parking spaces fronting the building tend to be a bit wider than the others. A seasonal, semi-private feeling beach cove fronts the condo complex. The beach is subject to currents and tides. Winter months are less predictable and the beaches can recede (the amount of sand/the size of the beach fluctuates). Many of our prior guests have enjoyed snorkeling in the ocean fronting our complex. Please be aware that snorkeling is subject to the whims of nature, and, if surf conditions are unfavorable do not snorkel. Safe access is always dependent on the ocean conditions. Caution should be utilized at all times not only on our beach but ALL beaches on the island. Enjoy the Honu (green sea turtles) that can frequently be found in the ocean fronting the condo complex. The Honu was federally listed as a threatened species in 1978. Please do not disturb them while in the ocean or when they come up to the beach to rest. Humpback whale (Kohola in Hawaiian) sightings from our lanai (only during season December-March). February is a peak month for whale sightings on Maui waters. Whale splashes, spouts and pec slaps can be seen at a distance from our complex during peak months. The Kuleana Resort is a quick 5 minute drive to the Ka'anapali Beach/resorts, an 8 minute drive to Kapalua and a 10 minute drive to Old Lahaina Town where you can enjoy numerous activities, shopping and dining options! There is no shortage of activities on Maui to delight your senses.
Additional information about rental rates
1. Calendar may not show pending reservations. 2. Additional Hawaii state tax of 14.416% applies (Transient Accommodation Tax + General Excise Tax). Hawaii Tax ID# TA-069-267-8656-01. 3. Property Damage Protection Plan non-refundable fee of $59.00 USD or $1,500.00 USD refundable damage deposit applies. This is to protect you against accidental damages including broken lamps and windows, damaged doors, walls and furniture, stained bedding, towels, or linens, and lost or stolen keys including re-keying costs. The $59.00 Property Damage Protection Plan fee is not paid to the owner and is retained by the insurance administrator (CSA Travel Protection and Insurance Services) in the rare event of a refund after the stay has begun. 4. Until confirmed, rental rates are subject to change without notice. 5. $500.00 USD deposit toward the rental amount is required to reserve your dates. The balance of the total rental amount is due 30 days prior to arrival. If the total rental amount is less than $500.00 USD, then the total rental amount is required to reserve your dates. 6. If you are booking within 30 days of your arrival date, the total rental amount is due upon booking. 7. The Service Fee is not paid to the owner. It is only refunded when a 100% refund has been granted. In the event of a partial refund, the Service Fee is retained by VRBO/Home Away. 8. Please note that you are renting a condo unit. This is not a hotel and therefore we do not have daily maid service. 9. Cancellation/Refund Policy: Bookings cancelled at least 60 days before the start of stay will receive 100% refund. Be sure to read all details to ensure this unit is a good fit for your vacation needs. Cancellation Protection is recommended in the event the reservation is canceled outside the parameters of the refund policy. Cancellation Protection is a small fee (usually less than 5% of the amount of protection you would like to purchase) that you can select on the payments page.
