About Bill Wells
Bill and Sally Wells are the owners of the Sugar Creek Chalet and live nearby on the 25 acre property. Sally grew up next door and Bill is a native of Upper St. Clair, PA. The Wells purchased Sally's homeplace in 2007 and moved into their home on the property in 2012. They remodeled the original house (Ramsey Mountain Lodge) into a vacation rental that opened in May 2013. The adjoining neighbor’s house came on the market in December 2013 and the Wells purchased the house for a vacation rental to be opened in May 2014.
Bill Wells purchased this Chalet in 2013
Why Bill Wells chose Fayetteville
Sally grew up on the property in the house that her father built in the early 1950's. We both enjoy outdoor recreation and love Fayetteville and the New River Gorge. I had a job opportunity in nearby Beckley, WV that allowed us to move the Fayetteville in 2012 and open our first vacation rental in 2013. We purchased our neighbors house in late 2013 when they were transferred to South Carolina. The new house has been remodeled and and opened in May of 2014.
What makes this Chalet unique
The house is located on 25 acres of gently rolling land near the edge of the New River Gorge. You will be staying in a secluded, woodland setting in a luxury mountain chalet that is also within walking distance (1 mile) of downtown Fayetteville where you will find many excellent restaurants and shops. No other vacation rental property in Fayetteville offers the same combination of affordable price, secluded mountain setting, convenient location to town and luxury accommodations.

This house was perfect for our group of nine. Plenty of space and good layout. Close to downtown restaurants and not far from river and hiking. Enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful home in Fayetteville! Fantastic location!
We have just come home from a long weekend in Fayetteville and just loved this property. The owners were especially welcoming and helpful. The home fit our three families with 7 kids total perfectly for Easter weekend. We enjoyed the large yard, easy walking access to shops and resturants downtown and fantastic fire pit. The house was beautiful, the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed and plenty of space inside to enjoy each other company without being on top of each other. Would highly recommend for families traveling to the area.
Held a company management conference for 8 here during winter 2018. The place was comfortable, well equipped (we used the HDMI input to the TV in the living room for presentations, WiFi worked great). Everything was stocked as indicated on the web-site, and overall it was a beautiful place to stay & work.
Love the chalet. It was very clean and well furnished and was the perfect setting for a get away.
I rented the chalet for a staff get away and everyone who attended was very impressed with the overall cleanliness and the setting. We are already planning to return next year and make it an annual event.
Beautiful, private yet accessible to many desired locations! We LOVED it!
Owners personable , cabin immaculate and well stocked . No complaints whatsoever ! Bill and Sally are superb!!!!
Beautiful scenery, huge yard, well kept.
What a nice cabin, very well maintained and the owners stopped by and made sure I knew where everything was. The kitchen was mesmerizing, so much room! The only little request I would have is that the master bedroom have a TV in their as well. A lot of people like to fall asleep with a TV on 🤓
The house is located on 25 acres so it is secluded but also close to downtown Fayetteville (1 mile) and the New River Gorge Bridge (2 miles). Fayetteville is the gateway to the New River Gorge and National Wild and Scenic River. Local activities include whitewater rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, mountain biking, ATV trails, zip lines, horseback riding, golf, world class trout and smallmouth bass fishing, hiking, birding, hunting, skiing and much more. The New River Gorge bridge is nearly 800 ft high and is the site of Bridge Day on the 3rd Saturday in October where pedestrians can walk on the bridge and base jumpers jump from the bridge to the river below. Walking tours on the catwalk below the bridge are available year round. The house is within walking distance of many of the local attractions including a number of excellent restaurants, the New River Gorge Bridge and some of the National Park trailheads. The Bechtel Summit National Boy Scout Adventure Base and home of the National Jamboree is located 10 miles away. Summersville Lake is 30 miles to the north and Winterplace Ski Resort is 39 miles to the south.
