Parking by front of unit. Guest parking available.

(No smoking, no pets please. 5 steps up to porch/deck or main building entrance.) Residential owner occupied area very close to historic Don Cesar Hotel. I've been blessed to live in Pass-a-Grille, in the Butlerhouse amid a ten block residential area of lovely homes and relatively private beachfront. I moved here from NYC many years ago. I work nearby at Frank Hurley Associates, Inc., Realtors. This is a village community, a haven from which you can explore the beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida and enjoy myriad venues, visit theme parks, villages, shopping, museums, galleries, theatre, orchestra, sports, cafes along Tampa Bay and parks, recreation...and the most beautiful beach in the world. It's a mix of village and luxury, artists and attorneys, a unique community, a place that's very hard to leave. I can tell you.....I finally came to visit in 1982 and essentially, I never left..

This property sits on the dunes amid a ten block section of relatively private beachfront in a historic residential beach community. It is still a secret, perched on teh beachfront just 9 blocks south of the historic Don Cesar Hotel, but a half mile from the Bayway and direct access to I-275. Besides enjoying a lively historic community with our own main street Pass-a-Grille, one can go to dinner and a concert in Clearwater, Tampa, or Sarasota and be home by midnight. Explore the beautiful communities and beaches and river cafes along the Gulf coast of Florida.

Notes:
The Butlerhouse has a long and colorful history in the community, has been the home of legends and legendary visitors like Jimmy Buffett . It was once part of the original Pass-a-Grille Hotel around 1915. There was once an owner named Butler and the name stuck, but it also likely housed hotel staff and traveler companions for the original Pass-a-Grille hotel guests. It is full of kind spirits, aging hippies, professional people, artists, whimsy, computer geek, and happy memories.

Our wonderland ...

What a fantastic find! This is such a wonderful place to stay - the condo is super sweet and delightfully chic, full of character with delightful artefacts and decor ... and the neighbourhood and location! Wow! - so quiet and right on the beach, and a beach stretch that was “far from the madding crowd”. And then there’s Joan ... such a warm, vibrant and lovely host who made us feel like family, and then welcomed us into the ‘community’ as we shared incredible nightly sunsets and conversations with her, Tim (what a great guy too!) and some of the other residents. It was our wonderland for 4 nights, and they passed far too quickly, but we’ll be back! Thank you Joan.

A wonderful stay

This condo is lovely. This was the second time my husband and I stayed there with our daughter, and we cannot say enough about the condo's location and its charm! Joan is a very caring person, and it shows in the ways she takes care of her guests and the condo itself. We love older buildings with a history, like this one, but it is not easy to keep them clean. However, Joan has an amazing cleaning crew. We always find the floors and surfaces (tables, counters, all bathroom surfaces,...) spotless and completely dust-free when we move in. That is a feat in itself. The kitchen is beautiful and well equipped (love the gas stove!). The furniture has so much character compared to the average rental, and all the personal touches really make you feel at home. More than anything, we love the peace and quiet we always find here, as well as the sense of community in this building and neighborhood. We really enjoy the sunsets there for that reason :) It is such a luxury to be so close to the beach! Thank you Joan for making our stay special once again.

Great location!

The Butler House is very special and Joan's unit is unique. You feel as if you are staying in a well kept 1940's beach bungalow. Restaurants and shops are well within walking distance. The beach is the best! I will be back...

Charming beach house in Pass-a-Grille

This place is perfect. Tucked into a quiet corner, gorgeous, and only a minute walk over the dunes to the beach. We enjoyed sunset every night with our host, Joan, and her neighbors. The condo has everything you need for that home away from home feel, and if you need anything, Joan has it! She was quick to respond to our questions and so sweet. We came as renters and left as friends!

If you’re looking for the “real” experience and not the tourist one, this is the place. Only a 15 minute walk into downtown PAG as well.

Perfect location

The condo was just a few hundred feet from the beach. It was awesome staying so close. The unit itself was perfectly clean and had everything we needed - great a/c, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, and washer/dryer in the shared basement.

Joan was very friendly and cared deeply about keeping us happy. I was on the fence about whether to give 4 stars or 5. The reason for my dilemma - the beds. We're guessing they are toddler matresses and are ultra firm. They weren't anymore comfortable than laying on carpet. I had a hard time sleeping more than 2 hours without waking up.

I really really REALLY wanted to rate it 5 stars because we loved our vacation here, but we honestly dreaded going to sleep.

It's far enough away from the touristy areas that you feel like a true local, but close enough that you have grocery stores and a good number of restaurants nearby. We walked to Sea Critters Cafe and were very impressed with it.

The neighborhood is exceptional and 100% safe.

I've had 2 spine surgeries and find firm preferable.. No one has ever complained about the mattresses before!....but you've given me a good idea....I'm going to look into buying a couple mattress toppers for folks who like something softer. I don't know what I could have done during your short visit but I certainly would have tried to make you more comfortable sleeping had I known.. Please visit again, you and your lovely family... Perfect little beach cottage

We were lucky enough to grab this charming little cottage for Memorial Day weekend in St. Pete's beach. We were visiting from Southern California for a family reunion. It was the perfect set up for our family of three. The bedroom was a decent size with a walk in closet and very comfy king size bed. Our 10 year old son slept in the living room on "captian's bed" which was essentially a full size mattress set up in the living room as a daybed - it was great and he loved it! The living room is a decent size with lots of seating - leather couch, two large sized leather seats, ottoman and bar stools. We had about 8 people over one afternoon for cocktails and it worked out great. There is also a full kitchen and refrigerator. The bathroom had both a shower and tub, but we only used the shower and the water pressure was good. Joan, the owner, had plenty of towels, blankets and extra shampoo, lotion, etc in the hall closet. It was a pleasant surprise, especially when I realized I forgot soap for the shower. The unit also has air conditioning and a couple ceiling fans that kept things nice and cool. Parking is a big issue in this little beach town, so it was so nice to have a convenient spot right in front of the cottage b/c it rained most of the weekend we visited. Oh and they have wifi! The beach access is just a few steps away although we didn't get there very much b/c of the weather. All in all this was a great location and fun cottage for our family. We would definitely book it again!
