Parking by front of unit. Guest parking available.

(No smoking, no pets please. 5 steps up to porch/deck or main building entrance.) Residential owner occupied area very close to historic Don Cesar Hotel. Relatively private section of beachfront, walk to shopping and restaurants, trolley and 'Free Beach Ride.' 25 minutes toTampa Airport. 45 minutes/one hour to Sarasota. 10 minutes to Ft. Desoto Park. 10 minutes to lovely downtown St. Petersburg on Tampa Bay, with myriad cultural and sports venues, music, theatre, galleries, shopping, European-style cafes and parks. I've been blessed to live in Pass-a-Grille, in the Butlerhouse amid a ten block residential area of lovely homes and relatively private beachfront. I moved here from NYC many years ago. I work nearby at Frank Hurley Associates, Inc., Realtors. This is a village community, a haven from which you can explore the beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida and enjoy myriad venues, visit theme parks, villages, shopping, museums, galleries, theatre, orchestra, sports, cafes along Tampa Bay and parks, recreation...and the most beautiful beach in the world. It's a mix of village and luxury, artists and attorneys, a unique community, a place that's very hard to leave. I can tell you.....I finally came to visit in 1982 and essentially, I never left..

This property sits on the dunes amid a ten block section of relatively private beachfront in a historic residential beach community. It is still a secret, perched on teh beachfront just 9 blocks south of the historic Don Cesar Hotel, but a half mile from the Bayway and direct access to I-275. Besides enjoying a lively historic community with our own main street Pass-a-Grille, one can go to dinner and a concert in Clearwater, Tampa, or Sarasota and be home by midnight. Explore the beautiful communities and beaches and river cafes along the Gulf coast of Florida.

This is a haven that's so easy to get to, and very, very hard to leave.

Notes:
The Butlerhouse has a long and colorful history in the community, has been the home of legends and legendary visitors like Jimmy Buffett . It was once part of the original Pass-a-Grille Hotel around 1915. There was once an owner named Butler and the name stuck, but it also likely housed hotel staff and traveler companions for the original Pass-a-Grille hotel guests. It is full of kind spirits, aging hippies, professional people, artists, whimsy, computer geek, and happy memories.

Superb Accommodations

This was more charming than we imagined. Quiet and comfortable, easy to access, far away enough to remain private, but close enough to everything you need, including great restaurants, shopping, Museums, The Don CeSar and Saint Petersburg. One really cool attribute is how this house -and all the other homes in ten block stretch- are on the beach, so no public parking. That means semi-private beaches with private beach access. The beach sand is as soft as confectioners’ sugar. Exploring the gulf you'll find live conch, see fish swimming at your feet, watch the dolphins and sea birds feed, and catch the most amazing sunset anywhere. To top it all is Joan, who is just wonderful. You cannot go wrong renting this place, and I’m so glad we had the opportunity to experience it. Thank you Joan.

This is the real Florida!

This was our second time staying at the The lovely Butler House. It is in a perfect location in the beautiful beach community of Passe a Grille. The charm and character of this condio makes you feel instantly that you are in the " Real Historic Florida." Right away you feel like it is home. Joan (and Tim) are welcoming and accommodating while still giving you your privacy. Loved everything!

Great vacation!

We loved our stay. The beach access is so close you are steps away. The place was super cute and clean and had everything we needed for our stay. It is very close to restaurants you can walk to breakfast lunch or dinner or stay at home and cook in. The beach was gorgeous. The owner was so nice and accommodating. Would definitely go back.

Needs updating of furnishings

Lovely location. However, kitchen utensils/pots/silverware/dishes/glasses were totally inadequate. Sheets and towels barely ok. Needs a table you can eat at. Doesn't have to be the Ritz, but all of these things need to be upgraded.

Owner's Response: Hi Alison... Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas here on line. I am a little surprised, since there was not a thing you or your husband asked me for that was not immediately provided or attended... you are certainly the first to complain about the kitchen, which former guests have remarked to be unusually well stocked.....It is a one bed guest condo after all... ...though most find it is not only equipped for two, but for a large group should guests visit....multiple coffee makers, toasters, pots and pans, blenders, silverware for an army ...it has certainly suited some very fussy chefs in the past...... But I have taken your notes to heart, and removed the 3 older cooking pans that were indeed unacceptable....no problem, you might have thrown them out as well, there being about a dozen newer ones still remaining in the multiple cupboards there.. By the way, I see you tried to dine at the tiny 2 x 2 computer table...and not use the door mat to wipe your feet, and I'm not sure why my fragile ancestral bedroom lamp was left on the living room floor.... sorry, I have some fine original artwork and expensive, comfortable furnishings in there, and my decor does not allow for a large dining table.... one was not indicated in my profile. Most of my guests prefer having the lovely English Colonial Daybed for lounging or an overnight guest or third visitor...thus I have the eating bar surrounding the kitchen cooking area....while there are chairs and tables outside under the gazebo.. In any event, I think you both might prefer accommodations which are somewhat differently outfitted in future. I hope you had fun all in all. Thank you for your visit. Charming and inviting on many levels

Butlerhouse is a unique beach place in a historic locale that is ideal for a couple seeking a respite.

If your idea of the perfect spot is a small place with all of the amenities you need, the beach just a dune walk away, a little covered porch where you can relax with coffee and watch the world go by, kind and friendly neighbors, and an easy walk to dining, market and downtown, then you've found the spot.

I felt tremendous contentment here. Truly lovely.

Comfortable and Cool

We would recommend the Butler House. The location, cleanliness and set up was perfect. Our host was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Beach chairs.,cooler and short walk to the confectionary sugar beach was delightful. We will be back.
