Million Dollar Views and ultimate privacy
The cottage was located in a beautiful setting on a private point with the owner's home.
The place was spacious, light and bright.
The outside deck was large and in good condition.
The hosts were very kind.
Unfortunately the expected western sunset view didn't exist, as the cottage faced mainly north and the view was cut off on both sides by trees. In addition (out of owner's control of course) lake level was low so there was a long stony walk to water's edge.
There were a few items that would make this place even better:
A thorough cleaning of entire cottage and attention to things like burned out lightbulbs etc.
Repair of/replace front screen slider
Could use another reading lamp in living room
Heaters didn't work
Doors to bedrooms were just accordion style sliders, not true doors.
Available TV channels were quite limited
This was a nice place, but compared to other VRBO's we have experienced, the value as to the cost/benefit ratio could be better.
We were looking for a nice place on the water to just relax and and kick back and this was the place. Everything they tell you about this place is spot on. The private beach is big and offers a great place to view the beautiful sunsets each night. The place is at the end of the road road so it is quite private. Close to Burlington so the ride to the city isn't bad at all. The owner asked us before we left what we thought about the place and if there was anything they could do to make it better or needed fixing. There really was only 2 little things we suggested and they said they would take care of them. We thought it was nice they cared to ask.
We would definitely come back to this place in the future.
We vacationed at the house in Vermont for two weeks each of the last two summers and had a wonderful time. The view from the living room and the deck of the house is a million dollar view - no kidding - it is as good as it gets. The beach is just fantastic too in that it is very private and peaceful, being shared with only the very kind and friendly landlords - who are there to help - but are glad to leave you on your own, The beach is a bit rocky and you definitely need either clogs or beach shoes for the first few feet out into the water - but it was never a problem. There is fire pit at the beach and we lit fires most nights. Beach chairs are also provided for your use. The house is really a camp house - 2 bedrooms and 1 bath with a shower (no tub). Nothing fancy - but it is clean; sheets and towels were provided. 1 Bedroom has a queen bed, and the other two doubles. The beds are fine. The Living room has a nice flat screen TV and the kitchen has everything you need, including a coffee pot and a microwave. It also has wireless internet which works very well. There is also a grill in the back. It is a short bike ride to a great bike path that goes out over the lake, and a 5 minute drive to the grocery store, Dunkin Donuts, and a soft serve ice cream place. One summer, my wife took sailing lessons about 3 miles away and we also kayaked and did SUP off of the beach (we brought our own kayak, SUP and bikes). The landlord has a rowboat available for use. In all, we would say it is a 5 star location with 5 star hosts - just fantastic for a perfect Vermont vacation.
