A little slice of heaven!

  • 5 of 5

We just got home from an incredible week in Cayman. This beachfront condo is perfect! We really enjoyed the 2 bedrooms (we traveled with our 23 and 20 year old sons). The beds are extremely comfortable and the pillows are wonderful. The patio looking out to the ocean is such a treat. We'd have our morning coffee and evening night cap on the patio. The beach is beautiful! A favorite activity was walking the beach every day. This was our second time staying at The Reef. We like that it is on the east end and a smaller resort; however, they offer all the amenities. We took advantage of the fitness center and had a massage at the spa. We only ate a few meals at the beach bar/restaurant. Both were very good. It is so nice to have the little grocery store and liquor store literally right across the road! I'd highly recommend diving with White Sand Water Sports. They provide all the "water sport" activities at The Reef; but, in mid-March the resort turned over the diving to Ocean Frontiers. We had already booked all of our dives with White Sand. We did 4 day - 2 tank dives, a night dive, the Kittiwake wreck dive, Sting Ray City, and the Bioluminescence kayak tour all through White Sand. The entire crew was extremely professional and FUN! The dive trips leave from just south of the resort. It was still extremely convenient. We hope to be back soon...until we meet again Cayman! Cheers!

Beautiful Island

  • 4 of 5

The condo was just as advertised. We could walk right out of our patio doors to paradise. We swam, snorkeled and kiteboarded right off the beach. Hung our hammock between the palm trees. Our family spent evenings in the pools and hot tubs. We had a couple great meals at the onsite restaurant. My son got certified to scuba dive with the on-site resort dive operator and we took the stingray city tour with them. Highly recommend both. We use the concierge to book dolphin, turtle, cave, bioluminesce kayak tours and restaurant reservations. The staff was totally helpful, friendly and gave good recommendations for restaurants and driving directions. Our only one issue was the room not be cleaned when we showed up, a mix up in communication somewhere. Not great with 6 people tired traveling from Oregon and getting there late. After waiting it was resolved and we had a great rest of the vacation.

Caribbean Perfection

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in this condo was everything you would expect from a Caribbean vacation.

Our family traveled to Grand Cayman from New England. Our group consisted of my mother, father, sister and myself (aged 29 and 31) and the condo could not have been more perfect for four grown adults. The two bedrooms, each with a king bed and full bathroom, provided plenty of space and privacy. The kitchen had all the cooking and dining tools we needed for a full week and the open layout to the dining and living rooms created the perfect hang-out spot. We were happy to have cable so we could watch Jeopardy in the evening and catch up on the news.

The majority of our time was spent outside. The condo opens directly onto a patio, which leads to the beach and ocean. We didn't have to travel more than a few yards to be on a chaise lounge under a palm tree. It was incredibly convenient to be able to grab a drink from the fridge, use the bathroom, take a nap, eat lunch - all without having to leave. We made daily visits to the pool and took walks along the beach. If you walk to the right, you pass the length of the Reef Resort, the Morritt's, and then a long expanse of untouched coastline. If you walk to the left, the beach is completely undeveloped and you get a close look at the various coral, shells and sea life that populates the area.

We rented a car for the week (Fox Rentals) and took several short trips around the island - Starfish Point, 7-Mile Beach, Rum Point, and the blowholes. My sister and I went on the 10 a.m. Stingray City Tour with White Sands Water Sports, which was arranged through the Reef. I highly recommend this tour if you are looking to visit the stingrays. The boat left from Rum Point, which is much closer than driving to George Town. Captain Chris was amazing. There were only three people on our tour, so it felt like a private excursion. He explained the animals’ behavior, showed us how to hold them, and then drove us to a quiet snorkeling spot. The tour was a highlight of the trip.

We cooked many meals at home, which made the condo, and the grocery store across the street, incredibly convenient. The Reef, and the East End in general, is quiet, tranquil and offers the perfect setting for relaxation (if you are looking for an active nightlife, this is not the place for you). There were some families, but it did not feel overrun with children.

Thanks to this condo, our family had an extraordinary vacation. We hope to return in the future.

Great location and met expectations

  • 4 of 5

The condo was exactly as was described as was the Reef Resort in general. Wyndam appears to be putting money into the resort as a whole which only helps these private owned condos even more. This specific condo is located in a great location on the beach, was perfect for our 2 young kids to simply walk out the patio, play on the beach, adults relax at the table outside. Short walk to several different pools. Always open chairs at pool, on beach, at bar.. and this was over Easter Weekend which brings not only international guests but many at the resort were native Caymans vacationing. Yes, it is about 45 minutes from airport, dolphin swim, and Georgetown however I would not trade the location vs the very crowded 7 mile. You do need to rent a car or plan shuttles. We rented a truck with no issues and allowed quick trips to Rum point, Kai, and restaurants nearby. Both owners were responsive before and during trip however we really had no issues. You hear complaints about the wind.. without it would have been far to hot, is a nice steady breeze. The wees that float in are constantly being raked up and never an issue. Purchase Wifi at front desk when arrive, is only around $25. Grocery, liquor and other shops right across the street were vital. Once the Wyndam gets the general resort up to their standards this would be 5 stars. When we make it back to Cayman we will stay in this condo.
