About Don Wagner

About the Owner:

Don Wagner - Southern Lancaster County has been my home for my entire life. I live 10 minutes away from Creekside Cottage and have been in the Real Estate business for many years. It has been my vision to create a place for guests to stay while visiting beautiful Southern Lancaster County. Creekside Cottage's manager, Carol Gibson, a retired elementary teacher, was also born and raised in Southern Lancaster County.

Don Wagner purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Don Wagner chose Drumore

This property is adjacent to my country cabin and stables. The rich history and natural attractions in this area inspired me to build Creekside Cottage. Come learn, relax and explore this beautiful area!

What makes this cottage unique

I designed Creekside Cottage with comfort and efficiency in mind. The wood used for the kitchen island, kitchen table, walls in the den and Master bathroom all came from the trees on my property. If you stroll down behind the cottage, you will discover the most amazing natural rock wall. If you desire to visit an authentic Amish community, then this is your place.

May you find peace, comfort and serenity during your visit!

Guestbook comments from the manager

"The cottage was cozy, charming, and well suited for a relaxing weekend!

It's a warm inviting cottage with enough room for everyone. The rooms were easy enough to navigate for the bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and living room.

This roomy cottage in the woods provides a peaceful retreat. The fireplace in the living room and warm-colored decor make for a cozy environment. The road in front of the cottage has very little traffic and the views outside the back of the house are beautiful.

Perfect place to get away on a cold February weekend. The accommodations were very nice including multiple fireplaces and plenty of rooms for everyone to stay.

The retreat at Drumore was such a beautiful location to get away and relax even for a short time. The house fit a large group of people comfortably and accommodated everyone’s needs! Thank you for building such a sweet get away!

We loved the place. Don was so accommodating and we felt at home right away. It was such a warm and inviting atmosphere and it was a perfect setting for a retreat getaway!"

Thanks Carol. I’ll pass along any other feedback I may receive.

Thanks,

Brandon

This is the Second time our family has stayed here and we so enjoy it! The grands love to explore the creek and we enjoy all the outdoor sitting. The house is always very clean and welcoming and Carol coming by adds that personal touch. Thanks so much and we’ll probably be back!

Owner's Response: Dear Anthony, Thanks for writing a review! We try hard to make Creekside Cottage as comfortable as being right at home! In our conversational email, you mentioned two of the bedrooms having TV's for only DVD usage. We have this option for kids/adults to watch movies in bed. With the two large TV's in the great room and lower level tavern room, we feel there are plenty of places to access regular TV programming/stream movies, etc. However, we appreciate your comment as we need to add this to our amenities listing in case people want to bring more DVD's along with them. Thank you! We hope to see you again in the future! Carol & Don

Our second stay

  • 5 of 5

We had another great stay. Last time we stayed was in winter of 2017. We really enjoyed the outside this Labor day weekend...the screened in porch, the firepit, went fishing, used the grill, and even explored the creek. The home is beautiful, spacious, and they have thought of everything to make the stay relaxing and comfortable.

Wonderful hosts

  • 5 of 5

Carol and Don were very gracious hosts. The cabin was very private and nestled in the woods, next to a beautiful stream. No other houses in site. The fishing and disc golf in the area were top notch. Will definitely be back!

Owner's Response: Dear Grant, We appreciate you taking time to write a REVIEW! Thank you! Well, I learned something new from you. I didn't know Muddy Run Park offered disc golf, but you left your score card behind and I saw where you played!! Thank you! We could have a lock box for our guests, but we prefer to meet the people who will be spending a few days or a week at the Cottage. It is fun to put a face with the name of the person(s) I have been communicating with and to give a little tour and share the most important details. Please do come again, Grant and friends! Bring the gals and kids along sometime! Sincerely, Carol & Don

The property was very nice & secluded which was wonderful for us!

  • 5 of 5

The home was very nice and well kept. Plenty of room for the whole family. The house was gated on the patio so we could have our little ones out there without fear of them falling down the patio stairs. Our daughters loved playing in the creek out back. The kitchen and dining space is huge. We loved waking up every morning and having coffee on the covered patio while listening to the creek run.

If I had to say there was a shortcoming: There was a larger wasps nest in one of the bushes on the property, but the home is nestled in the woods which is expected & they will ababndon it later this fall (it’s nothing scary unless you go out of your way to bother them). Other then that; fantastic!!

Owner's Response: Dear Dwight, Thanks for writing a review! After our first year, we realized a gate needed to be installed. Thanks for noticing this addition. Yes, the cottage is quiet and secluded, which is what most of our guests are looking for during their stay. Thank you for discovering the hornets nest! We had no idea it was there as those nests appear in just a matter of days. Don has cautiously taken care of it! Please come visit us again! Warmly, Carol & Don

Gorgeous spacious house

  • 5 of 5

This house rental was amazing, it is gorgeous, new, and spacious. A relaxing weekend in the countryside of Lancaster. We loved the outdoor firepit with babbling stream in the background. There is room for several families to meet and enjoy.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Lori! We often are asked about providing fire wood for the fire pit. The owner makes sure there is always plenty of wood available for our guests. We now sleep 13, so there is plenty of room for several families. We include 2 sofa beds and two folding cots in that number. The stream is host to several kinds of wildlife. There was a gray heron visiting yesterday. Thanks again for writing, Lori. Warmly, Carol Manager
