About the property

Helton Creek Guest Cabin is a 1 bedroom, 1 bath, 300 sq ft cabin, perfect for a quiet week or weekend on a state maintained trout stream, Helton Creek. Just imagine fishing on the creek, then grilling out or relaxing in the wonderful hot tub while listening to the creek music. The back porch is a stone's throw from the creek. In the winter you can sit in the hot tub and watch the creek go by and in the summer, there is enough shade to relax on the porch and feel the cool breeze, build a fire in the fire pit, or try your luck at catching a nice trout for dinner.

This guest cabin is great for the extended family or a couple/family who may want to rent it by itself at more reasonable rates, with or without renting the main cabin. It features 1 bedroom (double bed), 1 bath, a fold-out sleeper sofa (sleeps two) in the living room and kitchenette with all utensils, hot plate, coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, and large convection oven. DISH TV, Wifi Internet, and phone are included. The hot tub on the private deck is available year round.

There is a fire pit between the cabin and creek with firewood provided. Additional firewood is available under the back deck of the big cabin 30 yds. away.

What a great find!

My husband and I rented this cabin for the weekend and it was such a great find! The creek was amazing as was the hot tub! The kitchen was stocked with utensils, pots, pans and dishes. Plenty of towels provided and the bed was comfortable. We will definitely rent this cabin again in the future!

Loved it!

We really enjoyed our stay here. My husband caught fish like crazy our first night and a few trout the next day. I enjoyed reading & time in the hot tub while listening to the creek. It was cozy, relaxing, & quiet. Perfect for a weekend getaway.

First off let me say that we got a email from the owners stating that the hot tub was not working and they would be happy to give us a FULL refund if we so desired, which I very much appreciated. They were trying to get someone to fix it immediately but like I said if it could not be fixed we could get a refund. We really are not hot tub people so we paid no attention to it at all. We were sitting on the porch and I hear something and said I think the hot tub is fixed. Still not a major thing for us. Our thing was the quiet and the stream that went by the cabin . So soothing to sit and drink our morning coffee and watch the world go by. We saw a crane, which surprised us and watched the ground squirrels go hither thither . So cute. Across the road was a farm and we enjoyed watching the owner come out and the cows and goats come "a runnin" to be fed. We only live about 2 hours from the cabin but I had never seen that before. So enjoyable. The cabin was cozy and fit all our needs and hopefully we will be able to go back there again soon. The weather was so nice and cool and over the 4th of July, in our area is very uncommon. We did try to go to downtown West Jefferson for the Christmas in July but it was so crowded that I just was not interested in that, but I am sure some people would enjoy it. Not me.... Ate at he Pie on the Mountain pizza and it was great. Mostley we just hung out laid back traveled some back roads. Loved it and plan on going back asap.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay. You are welcome anytime. The hot tub was fixed by our service man the Friday that you came, but he didn't tell us until July 5th.

Wonderful get away home.

Enjoyed our short stay in this cabin. Brook just outside the back was wonderful. Even though there are houses on each side the way the porch is built you felt like you had complete privacy. After weeks of numerous doctor visits and sickness it was just what we needed. Would definitely love to stay there again.

Nice Little Cabin on the stream

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was just right for the two of us. It was as described and was very clean and ready to go. We enjoyed the hot tub both nights we were there. The cabin was warm and cozy and we liked the gas logs. The stream out back was a plus and we loved hearing it gurgling. We enjoyed watching the cows across the road attempt to navigate down the steep pasture side in the morning. We spent both days we were there driving around the country side and the cabin offered a great launching point for that. The neighbors were noisy at times on their back porch and the last night we were there some heavy winds dropped tree branches on the metal roof, but these were just timing things and just come with the cabin rentals sometimes. We would recommend to friends or come again if given the opportunity.
