About this property
A Journey Through Time in East Frisia: A charming servant's house from 1916 that sleeps up to four people.
Welcome to a little piece of East Frisia: This former servants’ quarters, built in 1916, is located in a completely peaceful village setting near Krummhörn. It has been furnished in a cozy country house style with great attention to detail, without losing its original character. Old materials, slight imperfections, and visible traces of the past are all intentional elements that contribute to the special atmosphere here. If you love nostalgia, vintage charm, and homes with history, you’ll find an extraordinary retreat far removed from the generic comforts of new construction.
On the first floor, a fully equipped kitchen in classic East Frisian blue awaits you. The cozy living area with a nostalgic Italian wood-burning stove invites you to enjoy quiet evenings and convivial moments. A bathroom with a bathtub and shower, a separate toilet, and a washing machine provide additional comfort. Fiber-optic internet and satellite TV are also available.
Upstairs, there are two cozy bedrooms with a total of four sleeping accommodations. One room features a double bed. The lovingly designed “Little Lighthouse Room” is a wonderful place for children to play and dream. A treasure chest filled with toys, books for various age groups, and a small desk provide plenty of entertainment even when the North German weather is less than ideal. In addition, the living room features a large collection of games for family evenings together. For younger guests, a crib with a safety rail, a changing table, a high chair, and a bottle warmer are also available. The stairs can be secured at both the top and bottom.
Many original details have been deliberately preserved: old built-in cabinets, historic tiles, original wallpaper, and small traces of the old masonry tell the story of the house’s long history. Special surprises are waiting to be discovered—such as a small section of beach with sand, seashells, and memories of the Knock, hidden beneath a glass panel in a drawer of the table. Even the little rooster crowing by the front door adds to the house’s charming character.
Outside, the cozy terrace with its beach chair invites you to enjoy a relaxed breakfast, a good book, or a glass of wine in the evening. The wind, nature, and the red lights of the wind turbines in the distance create a distinctive East Frisian atmosphere.
Please note: The staircase, which is somewhat steeper—as is typical of older homes—may pose a challenge for older guests or those with limited mobility. The house has been deliberately preserved in its authentic state and is intended for guests who value charm and history more than polished perfection. Out of consideration for guests with allergies, light-colored fabrics, and small children, pets are not permitted.
