Quaint & Quiet Log Cabin Next To Glacier Park

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,100 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom Sleeps 6 Cabin With Mountain Views

The Clarke Cabin was the family home for many years and the Clarke family in general have been in East Glacier since the 1800s. From Tom B. and Family, Reno, NV in August 2014: “Your home here is stunning. We have come to realize that this was the best place we could have found to stay up here. And this is only our first time here. Thank you for providing such a well-equipped experience. We are thrilled with our experience, and are pleased and honored to have been invited to catch a glimpse of your family’s past.”

With a recent make-over, this 1,100 square foot log cabin has one larger bedroom with a new queen-size bed, full closet and bureaus for your belongings, plus new carpet and quiet backyard views. The smaller bedroom also has recently been updated to a queen-size bed and is carpeted, with walk-in closet and chests of drawers, plus views of the backyard aspen grove. Due to its fun artwork, this is also called the 'Goat' Room.

The laundry/utility room has a new washer/dryer for your use and room to stash recreational gear. The single bathroom has the normal conveniences of an older log home, with a tub/shower, fluffy new towels and cupboard space to settle in with your belongings. A special bonus as of Summer 2015 is beautiful new travertine tile in both the shower and the vanity area.

The large living/kitchen area boasts new flooring, new queen-size sleeper sofa in the living area, along with a 40" flatscreen TV (plus Dish cable) and superb mountain views via the oversize windows. There is also a DVD player, but you need to provide your own movies. The kitchen has a new stove, microwave, dishwasher and almost any necessity (besides the actual groceries) to make your own meals. The dining table seats six comfortably, with ample chairs.

Sliding glass doors open up to the front deck, with a new gas BBQ and comfy Adirondack and rocking chairs. More views here! There is ample room to park two cars - more room in an adjacent lot, if needed. Clarke Cabin also features cable television and free secure WiFi.

About Dana Turvey

Although I've lived in lovely Lake Tahoe for many years, I'm still a Montana girl...East Glacier was my home in the early days, and I still visit every year. There's just something about mountains, trees, clear blue water and big puffy white clouds...

Dana Turvey purchased this cabin in 1977

Why Dana Turvey chose Glacier Country

My mother built The Clarke Cabin in 1977, and I inherited it from her. With recent upgrades, it can now be shared with others who wish to explore the fabulous Glacier Park area - that is, when I'm not able to use it!

What makes this cabin unique

Nestled in a cozy corner, just off the highway, the location has always been calm, quiet and lovely. The mountain views combined with the easy proximity of shops and dining make a visit to the Clarke Cabin super-convenient for the Glacier Park visitor.

The perfect place!

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure to stay at Dana's cabin and absolutely loved it. The house was very clean and well equipped. Our crew of two adults, two teenage kids and two soon-to-be teenagers had plenty of room. We enjoyed meeting the locals in downtown East Glacier and listen to their "bear stories". The Two Medicine park entry is very close and offers nice hiking and kayaking. St. Mary and Many Glacier are also at a reasonable distance. Last but not least, we highly recommend visiting Dana's gallery down the street.

We loved our stay. The perfect place to stay when visiting GNP. Close to the park and walking distance to everything you need from the great town of East Glacier. The cabin was perfect for us and we loved the charm and feel. Would love to get back again someday. Thanks for sharing such a great place!

Great cabin - well equipped, very comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

Nice location, restaurants walkable, beautiful views, was as well equipped and hospitable as we were lead to expect - great resources about the surrounding area and history. My daughter loved all the little stuffed animal "friends", especially the living room bear! Close enough to the train station and the glacier park lodge that you could explore the park without a car while the shuttles are running.

Owner's Response: Sasha & Family - well, I know we keep a clean place, but I'm always so thrilled when others agree - and take the time to mention it. Also great to know the little touches (i.e. stuffed bears) were appreciated by you and yours. Thank you so much!

Cozy Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We loved coming home each evening to your quaint and quiet cabin. The cabin is so nicely appointed and provided a very comfortable stay for our family of five (2 parents with 3 young adult children). The grill and well stocked kitchen allowed for easy dinner preps and we enjoyed our short walk for coffee in the village each morning.

While on the east side we enjoyed our kayak trip in Two Medicine, the long hike to Grinnell Glacier and exploring Many Glacier trails. We also took a day to explore Canada. For future travelers, I would suggest planning a night stay in Canada. The long and winding road along the steep mountains to Canada was beautiful yet it was quite a big trek back and forth for one day.

Thank you for opening your home to us. We will be sure to return when the smoke clears! Glacier was beautiful and seeing a grizzly bear at Logan Pass was amazing!

Owner's Response: Dear Steven - it is so great to know how much you enjoyed Glacier this visit and how very kind of you to offer advice to future guests. It's having families like yours stay at the Cabin that make this rental so rewarding. And you'll be pleased to know that with so much recent rain, the fires (and the smoke) are mostly gone. Thank you for the kind words! Dana

Clean and Charming

  • 5 of 5

Clean, charming, and roomy cabin in a quiet location in East Glacier. Only 15 minutes to Two Medicine entrance to Glacier and a little more than an hour to Many Glacier. Kitchen is well stocked, internet very reliable so you can stay in touch, beds are super comfortable. Walking distance to Whistlestop restaurant and Luna's restaurant is right next door. Excellent place to stay and I'm looking forward to returning next year.
