Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom Sleeps 6 Cabin With Mountain Views

The Clarke Cabin was the family home for many years and the Clarke family in general have been in East Glacier since the 1800s. From Tom B. and Family, Reno, NV in August 2014: “Your home here is stunning. We have come to realize that this was the best place we could have found to stay up here. And this is only our first time here. Thank you for providing such a well-equipped experience. We are thrilled with our experience, and are pleased and honored to have been invited to catch a glimpse of your family’s past.”

With a recent make-over, this 1,100 square foot log cabin has one larger bedroom with a new queen-size bed, full closet and bureaus for your belongings, plus new carpet and quiet backyard views. The smaller bedroom also has recently been updated to a queen-size bed and is carpeted, with walk-in closet and chests of drawers, plus views of the backyard aspen grove. Due to its fun artwork, this is also called the 'Goat' Room.

The laundry/utility room has a new washer/dryer for your use and room to stash recreational gear. The single bathroom has the normal conveniences of an older log home, with a tub/shower, fluffy new towels and cupboard space to settle in with your belongings. A special bonus as of Summer 2015 is beautiful new travertine tile in both the shower and the vanity area.

The large living/kitchen area boasts new flooring, new queen-size sleeper sofa in the living area, along with a 40" flatscreen TV (plus Dish cable) and superb mountain views via the oversize windows. There is also a DVD player, but you need to provide your own movies. The kitchen has a new stove, microwave, dishwasher and almost any necessity (besides the actual groceries) to make your own meals. The dining table seats six comfortably, with ample chairs.

Sliding glass doors open up to the front deck, with a new gas BBQ and comfy Adirondack and rocking chairs. More views here! There is ample room to park two cars - more room in an adjacent lot, if needed. Clarke Cabin also features cable television and free secure WiFi.

About Dana Turvey

Although I've lived in lovely Lake Tahoe for many years, I'm still a Montana girl...East Glacier was my home in the early days, and I still visit every year. There's just something about mountains, trees, clear blue water and big puffy white clouds...

Dana Turvey purchased this cabin in 1977

Why Dana Turvey chose Glacier Country

My mother built The Clarke Cabin in 1977, and I inherited it from her. With recent upgrades, it can now be shared with others who wish to explore the fabulous Glacier Park area - that is, when I'm not able to use it!

What makes this cabin unique

Nestled in a cozy corner, just off the highway, the location has always been calm, quiet and lovely. The mountain views combined with the easy proximity of shops and dining make a visit to the Clarke Cabin super-convenient for the Glacier Park visitor.

Comfortable and convenient log cabin in East Glacier.

  • 4 of 5

We rented this quaint cabin with another couple for our week-long stay in August. We found the cabin to be exceptionally clean, comfortable and well equipped with the possible exception of lighting, of which it could use more lamps or at least brighter bulbs for evening reading purposes. It is located a short 20 minutes from the Two Medicine area, one hour from St. Mary's and the Going to the Sun Road, and one hour to the Many Glacier area. We did not get to the west side of the park due to the wildfire burning there, but I believe it is also about an hour via Rt. 2. It is a pity that wildfires have and are devastating so much of this beautiful area as it is truly a hiker's delight. Luckily, the Two Medicine area stayed mostly smoke free...at least compared to other areas in Glacier, so we were able to enjoy several hikes there and we did manage to get to Iceberg Lake on one day when cooler temps and brisk winds pushed the smoke away from Many Glacier.

There were several restaurants in the immediate area including a very good Mexican one that is currently for sale and two small stores where one could buy essentials and a couple of basic grocery stores in Browning. We would certainly recommend this VRBO to those who enjoy having space and privacy.

Owner's Response: Linda - good to know you were comfortable and could enjoy the Park so nicely, despite our overwhelming fire season. As of this writing (9/17/17) the recent snowfall has greatly helped the firefighters, the air is once again pure and the white-tipped mountains are a joy to see. Hope you get to come back! Thank you - Dana

Great and convienent to Two Medicine Lake and Glacier Park.

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful little cabin with everything needed to prepare good meals including a gas barbecue. Lots of interesting books to look through, and an enjoyable deck to spend the afternoon on resting from the day's workout in the park. The owner, Dana, is close by and quite an enjoyable person. It was a good choice for me, it fit perfectly.

Great location to hike Two Medicine and Many Glacier area of Park

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed the location of this house. It had everything we need to cook/grill after a long day of hiking. We went to one highly rated local restaurant our first night and decided to dine in after that. Restaurants in area aren't great.

The house has a complete kitchen. Dining area is adequate. Didn't dig the the fact that the slider door doesn't have a screen. It has a curtain like thing you have to put up after you open the slider. Never found place matts for the table so I used paper towels . Living room area was cozy. Two couches (one looked like my grandmas circa 1950) and a chair and tv DVD . We watched dvds that we brought .

Funky smell in bathroom. Two Queen bedrooms.

Loved picking a raspberry or two off the bush by the gate as we came in each evening...

All in all we would stay here again. Lots of space. Clean. Good kitchen and grill if you want to dine in. Bonus = washer and dryer.

Our favorite place to stay in Montana!

  • 5 of 5

We loved Dana's quaint and quiet log cabin. If I lived closer to Montana, I would want to move to this cabin and stay forever! It was the perfect size for our party of 6 adults. We enjoyed spending time on the front deck at night. Three minutes away (walking) is the general store with warm huckleberry muffins. Cabin was clean, Dana was easy to communicate with. The entire experience was outstanding. And for those looking to visit Glacier- I highly recommend visiting Two Medicine Lake in the park. It's not too far away, terrific hiking trails and a lot less crowded than the west side of Glacier.

Excellent Property in a great location

  • 5 of 5

The location was in probably the best spot in town. Walking distance from all of the local eateries, and from anything you would need. The responsiveness of the owner was on par with a 5 star resort. This location was absolutely perfect and a great way to end our 3000 mile road trip. I would highly recommend this property as a quiet getaway while visiting Glacier park.
