Overview

About the property

2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom Sleeps 6 Cabin With Mountain Views

The Clarke Cabin was the family home for many years and the Clarke family in general have been in East Glacier since the 1800s. From Tom B. and Family, Reno, NV in August 2014: “Your home here is stunning. We have come to realize that this was the best place we could have found to stay up here. And this is only our first time here. Thank you for providing such a well-equipped experience. We are thrilled with our experience, and are pleased and honored to have been invited to catch a glimpse of your family’s past.”

With a recent make-over, this 1,100 square foot log cabin has one larger bedroom with a new queen-size bed, full closet and bureaus for your belongings, plus new carpet and quiet backyard views. The smaller bedroom also has recently been updated to a queen-size bed and is carpeted, with walk-in closet and chests of drawers, plus views of the backyard aspen grove. Due to its fun artwork, this is also called the 'Goat' Room.

The laundry/utility room has a new washer/dryer for your use and room to stash recreational gear. The single bathroom has the normal conveniences of an older log home, with a tub/shower, fluffy new towels and cupboard space to settle in with your belongings. A special bonus as of Summer 2015 is beautiful new travertine tile in both the shower and the vanity area.

The large living/kitchen area boasts new flooring, new queen-size sleeper sofa in the living area, along with a 40" flatscreen TV (plus Dish cable) and superb mountain views via the oversize windows. There is also a DVD player, but you need to provide your own movies. The kitchen has a new stove, microwave, dishwasher and almost any necessity (besides the actual groceries) to make your own meals. The dining table seats six comfortably, with ample chairs.

Sliding glass doors open up to the front deck, with a new gas BBQ and comfy Adirondack and rocking chairs. More views here! There is ample room to park two cars - more room in an adjacent lot, if needed. Clarke Cabin also features cable television and free secure WiFi.

About Dana Turvey

Although I've lived in lovely Lake Tahoe for many years, I'm still a Montana girl...East Glacier was my home in the early days, and I still visit every year. There's just something about mountains, trees, clear blue water and big puffy white clouds...

Dana Turvey purchased this cabin in 1977

Why Dana Turvey chose Glacier Country

My mother built The Clarke Cabin in 1977, and I inherited it from her. With recent upgrades, it can now be shared with others who wish to explore the fabulous Glacier Park area - that is, when I'm not able to use it!

What makes this cabin unique

Nestled in a cozy corner, just off the highway, the location has always been calm, quiet and lovely. The mountain views combined with the easy proximity of shops and dining make a visit to the Clarke Cabin super-convenient for the Glacier Park visitor.

Excellent Property in a great location

  • 5 of 5

The location was in probably the best spot in town. Walking distance from all of the local eateries, and from anything you would need. The responsiveness of the owner was on par with a 5 star resort. This location was absolutely perfect and a great way to end our 3000 mile road trip. I would highly recommend this property as a quiet getaway while visiting Glacier park.

A charming cabin in East Glacier that is clean and comfortable with all the necessary amentities

  • 4 of 5

Clarke cabin is a charming cabin in East Glacier that is clean and comfortable with all the necessary amenities. We enjoyed our evenings relaxing on the on the deck after a day of hiking. Two Medicine area is close by with some nice hikes during which we saw several moose. There is a lot of interesting Indian lore from this area. The entrances to Going to the Sun Road and Many Glacier were further away than anticipated so it's important to plan ahead and start early; still it is easier access than if you were staying on the west side of the park. The hiking on the east side is great with incredible views!! The evenings were cool and perfect for leaving the windows open to get the lovely breezes. One caveat, there is a train station not too far away with trains rolling in/through at all hours of the night so if you are a light sleeper, that could awaken you. My husband found the mattress to be lumpy and uncomfortable but it wasn't an issue for me. Dana was very helpful in getting us acquainted with the area and answering any questions we had. A great place!

Owner's Response: Hi Kathy & Mister...thanks for the nice words...not sure which bed you may have used, so I'll go 'field test' both when we have a gap in the schedule. Good to have a heads' up and thank you again - Dana

Wonderful Little Cabin in Glacier

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was a wonderful vacation stay. Dana was very nice and helpful and her crew next door was also very nice and helpful for anything that we needed. It is within walking distance to everything you may need, such as food, groceries, hiking supplies and great little restaurants, and is very clean and comfortable, I highly recommend this place and will definitely be going back. Thank you again Dana and HomeAway!!!!

Very well kept and neat, well stocked, and very nice

  • 5 of 5

We had a phenomenal time at the Clarke Cabin! We had a group of 6, and the cabin accommodated is very well. Kitchen was well stocked, and perfect for the several meals we made. The outside grill was great, and everything worked well. All instructions were detailed and relevant. The only critique is that it was difficult keeping the house cool since the doors don't have screens. The outside temps were perfect but due to the bugs we couldn't get quite enough air flow through the windows only! Maybe a screen door on the sliding door and an additional box fan would do the trick. It certainly did not hinder our ability to enjoy the Clarke cabin. Would absolutely recommend! Thanks Dana!

Owner's Response: Gabe! You guys were great guests - thank you so much. And since you were kind enough to mention the fan and screen door just after your visit, please note that they were great suggestions/reminders and were put into place immediately. Thank you again - so glad you had a great stay during our "heat wave!"

The perfect place!

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure to stay at Dana's cabin and absolutely loved it. The house was very clean and well equipped. Our crew of two adults, two teenage kids and two soon-to-be teenagers had plenty of room. We enjoyed meeting the locals in downtown East Glacier and listen to their "bear stories". The Two Medicine park entry is very close and offers nice hiking and kayaking. St. Mary and Many Glacier are also at a reasonable distance. Last but not least, we highly recommend visiting Dana's gallery down the street.
