River Front Mountain Cabin with Views!

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,200 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

2 Bedroom. 2 Bathroom, 6 Sleeps

Whether you enjoy outdoor activities or just want to relax on our deck overlooking the river, you will love this place. Hike the trails nearby, swim, kayak, and picnic at one of many beautiful mountain lakes, gaze at the Sierra Buttes, fish and enjoy the local swimming holes on the Yuba River, or just relax with a view of the river and the Tahoe National Forest. Perfect for a family vacation or group of friends. Great for tele-commuting with a view -- if your boss will let you!

During winter it's a great location to avoid the crowds of the Tahoe area and is great for cross country skiing, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, or sledding with the family. Or just relax by the cozy fire. Borrow our snowshoes and poles or our sled and have some fun.

New: you may borrow our kayak to enjoy on the lakes nearby (not the river). Fits two adults and a child or dog. Please arrange for kayak ahead of time if interested.

Enjoy time on the riverside deck, fish on the river below, and sleep to the relaxing sound of the river. Enjoy the restaurants in the picturesque mining town of Sierra City or Downieville or buy groceries at the local Country Store and cook or barbecue at the cabin. Ride your bikes around town, ride the single tracks on your mountain bike, or ride your road bike up Gold Lake Road along many gorgeous lakes.

Check out our low weekly pricing - may be better to spend a week - there is lots of see and do in the area. Telecommute from the cabin for a few days while the rest of your family enjoys a longer vacation.

There are two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. One king bed, one queen bed, and a queen size air mattress that can go in either room or the living room. One bathroom has a shower, the other has both a bathtub and a shower. The second bedroom has a private entrance to the hall bathroom. There is access to the entire house, except the garage. Living space is about 1200 square feet.

The TV is set up with a ROKU box and both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video subscriptions so you can enjoy great movies, TV shows, news, weather, and music. There is no cable TV. Plug your iPod or other music player to the stereo system or the available portable iPod player. DVD, VHS, CD, and Cassette players are also available.

You are welcome to use the gas barbecue on the back deck facing the river and the washer and dryer in the hall bath. Connect your phones and laptops to our WiFi network for fast internet connectivity.

Guests have access to the whole cabin, except the garage.

Note: For holidays or weekends from June to October we have a 3 night minimum (except with short notice if the dates are still available or if only 2 nights are available on the calendar)

In cases where we have another guest checking in or out on the same day, I need to check our housekeeper's schedule before confirming your reservation request. If our housekeeper's schedule requires a later check-in time or earlier checkout time, I will check with you before confirming your booking. Sorry for this inconvenience. On the positive side, we often have flexible checkin/checkout times if our housekeeper's schedule allows it.

The cabin, including its decor, is from the 60s. Most of our guests appreciate the "vintage" look. Just note it's not a modern home. We have formica and linoleum. We don't have a dishwasher or a garbage disposal.

The hosts were very attentive and the home was welcoming and cozy. The kitchen had more than the basic essentials. We hope to come back.

Great home!

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from a long weekend and had a fabulous time. We were blessed with beautiful snow, the kind that sticks to the trees initially but then turning to powder. Walking up the street the scenery was like being in a postcard. Our 2 dogs had a blast running around in the snow. The house is so inviting and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped, unlike most rental places we've stayed. Loved the decor and comfy furnishings. If you're coming here in the winter there are very limited options to eat out; 2 places that are only open for breakfast & lunch, both closed Mondays, so bring food along. Linda and Francisco are great hosts and made renting their home very easy. It's clear they care very much. We hope to get back again, perhaps in the autumn to explore the area further.

The house was comfortable and inviting. We had a wonderful weekend in the snow. Francisco and Linda are very nice and helpful. They are responsive to questions and very thorough with their instruction! Even with a power outage, there was no inconvenience at all, didn't miss the electricity one bit. Thank You for opening your home to us. It very much felt like home to us too.

Wish I was still there!

  • 5 of 5

The river front cabin was better than advertised. Location, location, location. The back deck, where we ate all our meals, hangs out over the South Fork of the Yuba River, which makes a wonderful rushing river sound and is beautiful to look at. At sunset, though, it was best to sit out on the front deck and look up at the top of the Sierra Buttes turning gold as the sun went down.

The cabin is 10 minutes from the Sardine Lakes, and only a few more minutes from many beautiful lakes a few miles further up the road. The lakes area was great for hiking, boating and fishing. We played golf at a couple of courses in Graeagle, which is about 30 minutes from the cabin. The "Dragon" course at Nakoma resort was quite challenging. We went down river from the cabin to fish the Yuba River and caught a good-sized trout just below Downieville.

The cabin was quiet, peaceful and relaxing. No neighbors around during our stay. We walked up the road and fished the creek, cooled off in the river, and checked out brilliant star shows at night.

If you want to relax and get off the beaten path for a while, this is the place to do it.

Very comfy and welcoming!

  • 5 of 5

Our small group settled in for the weekend of the Classic and we couldn't have picked a better base for our weekend. A kitchen full of all the small sundries you always forget and a wonderful bottle of wine were there to greet us when we walked in the door. Comfortable beds, warm showers and plenty of clean linens were available. We will stay here again!
