River Front Mountain Cabin with Views!

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,200 sq ft
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

2 Bedroom. 2 Bathroom, 6 Sleeps

Whether you enjoy outdoor activities or just want to relax on our deck overlooking the river, you will love this place. Hike the trails nearby, swim, kayak, and picnic at one of many beautiful mountain lakes, gaze at the Sierra Buttes, fish and enjoy the local swimming holes on the Yuba River, or just relax with a view of the river and the Tahoe National Forest. Perfect for a family vacation or group of friends. Great for tele-commuting with a view -- if your boss will let you!

During winter it's a great location to avoid the crowds of the Tahoe area and is great for cross country skiing, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, or sledding with the family. Or just relax by the cozy fire. Borrow our snowshoes and poles or our sled and have some fun.

New: you may borrow our kayak to enjoy on the lakes nearby (not the river). Fits two adults and a child or dog. Please arrange for kayak ahead of time if interested.

Enjoy time on the riverside deck, fish on the river below, and sleep to the relaxing sound of the river. Enjoy the restaurants in the picturesque mining town of Sierra City or Downieville or buy groceries at the local Country Store and cook or barbecue at the cabin. Ride your bikes around town, ride the single tracks on your mountain bike, or ride your road bike up Gold Lake Road along many gorgeous lakes.

Check out our low weekly pricing - may be better to spend a week - there is lots of see and do in the area. Telecommute from the cabin for a few days while the rest of your family enjoys a longer vacation.

There are two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. One king bed, one queen bed, and a queen size air mattress that can go in either room or the living room. One bathroom has a shower, the other has both a bathtub and a shower. The second bedroom has a private entrance to the hall bathroom. There is access to the entire house, except the garage. Living space is about 1200 square feet.

The TV is set up with a ROKU box and both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video subscriptions so you can enjoy great movies, TV shows, news, weather, and music. Although there is no cable TV, most broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, ESPN, etc.) have apps on the ROKU so you can watch those networks live if you have a cable subscription at home. Plug your iPod or other music player to the stereo system or the available portable iPod player. DVD, VHS, CD, and Cassette players are also available.

You are welcome to use the gas barbecue on the back deck facing the river and the washer and dryer in the hall bath. Connect your phones and laptops to our WiFi network for fast internet connectivity.

Guests have access to the whole cabin, except the garage.

For holidays or weekends from June to October we have a 3 night minimum (except with short notice if the dates are still available or if only 2 nights are available on the calendar)

In cases where we have another guest checking in or out on the same day, I need to check our housekeeper's schedule before confirming your reservation request. If our housekeeper's schedule requires a later check-in time or earlier checkout time, I will check with you before confirming your booking. Sorry for this inconvenience. On the positive side, we often have flexible checkin/checkout times if our housekeeper's schedule allows it.

The cabin, including its decor, is from the 60s. Most of our guests appreciate the "vintage" look. Just note it's not a modern home. We have formica and linoleum. We don't have a dishwasher or a garbage disposal.

There is no big grocery store nearby. It's part of the appeal of the small town. We recommend you shop for groceries at home or on the way up in Auburn, Grass Valley, or Marysville.

If you are coming for snow in the winter please check the weather and snow levels or ask Francisco ahead of time. We sometimes don't have snow at cabin level - depending on the weather and time of the year but you can usually find snow a short drive away. The cabin is at 4200 Feet. The Yuba Pass nearby is at 6700 feet 11 miles away.

Beautiful Property

  • 5 of 5

The sound of the flowing river behind the cabin was soothing and therapeutic. While there are lots of activities to do in the area, my family and I used the time at the cabin to relax and unwind. We took some short hikes around the area. There are some amazing views of mountains, lakes, and rivers. We had never been to this part of CA and couldn't believe what we had been missing all these yrs. There's no cell service (which I consider a positive) but the cabin does have wifi so you're not totally cut off from civilization. Francisco and Linda thought of everything. All we needed was to bring food and clothes. Attention to details didn't go unnoticed. A welcoming gift of wine and chocolate was very thoughtful. Francisco was very attentive to our questions and concerns prior to our arrival. It was an overall great experience and we hope to be able to rent this property in the summer.

Lovely old fashioned cabin on the river!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our 5 night stay at Francisco’s Cabin. Super clean, kitchen well equipped, beds comfy, lots of towels and wood for evening fires. Very much appreciated the washer and dryer as we hiked and fished every day. Access to fishing below the cabin on the North Yuba was perfect. We caught and released wild trout and didn’t see anyone else fishing. We will be back for another fall fishing and hiking trip.. maybe next fall. Francisco was quick to respond and very helpful.

Francisco has the cabin set up perfectly for the guests - and his communication before and during our stay made the stay so easy. We will be back. Thanks Francisco!

Wonderful Spot

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I spent a week in this charming cabin with a large deck overlooking the North Fork of the Yuba River. Ate every meal and enjoyed happy hour on the deck! Excellent location in close proximity to many options for hiking, floating, swimming, biking and exploring. Sixties decor in GREAT condition with a well-stocked kitchen and soaps/lotion/shampoo/conditioner in the bathrooms. Comfortable beds, leather couches and plenty of porch chairs. The owner is extremely responsive and committed to helping guests have as enjoyable stay as possible. If staying for a week or longer, trash/recyclables may be disposed 5 miles up Hwy 49 at a public disposal area just across from Bassett's Station (on your way to amazing lakes and hiking). We very much enjoyed this place and definitely plan to return! Francisco, thank you for sharing this terrific house and being a great host!
