Right on the beach , this is a truly unique place to stay in Hawaii for a couple. Next door to Magnum PI shooting location with gated entrance and your own private parking this studio looks like a first-class Apartment Suite with air conditioning, two queen size beds and a roomy dining area. Check out the photos to appreciate it. Outside you have a tropical garden perfectly manicured and access to a magnificent beach, protected and secluded.

This location is not only historical from the numerous movies shot on-site like Hawaii Five O and Magnum PI cross over episodes but is also an Hawaiian Landmark with a turtle pond "Pahonu"' built by the Ancient Hawaiians and safe for the children to swim in. The beach next to the property is pristine, safe and ideal for snorkeling. Waimanalo is known for its long white sandy beach, the longest stretch of sand on the island. Private Gated Entrance on the Beach!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stay in a HomeAway property five or six times a year. We left the kids home this time and opted for this studio. We were impressed with the cleanliness because pictures don’t always show everything. Both queen size beds are Murphy beds but were quite comfortable! The kitchen also had everything we needed for the most part. Gilles, the property manager, was quite accommodating and was able to get us a blender and a few other small items upon request. The beach is only about a 30 sec walk from the condo but don’t expect a grandiose view from the second floor balcony, pretty much just a sliver of water, which was fine by us. Air-conditioner worked amazingly, we found ourselves having to shut it off every night because we were cold :-) The actual grounds were well-maintained, and the beach was easy to access. At high tide don’t expect to sunbathe on the actual beach though because it is pretty much nonexistent with the water up high, however, there are a lot of comfortable lounge chairs just a few feet away on the grass that allow you to enjoy the view & breeze. We would like to note that there are two other structures on this property. The main house, which is closest to the beach and the largest, second is a medium size structure with one bedroom and laundry facility, and then this condo which is at the entrance of the property, still very private because it is a gated entrance with just these three structures within. We felt really lucky because no one was staying in the other two structures during our stay here so we had the entire property to ourselves. It wouldn’t be horrible if someone else had been there, but of course would not offer as much privacy. The next-door neighbors were awesome and had a friendly dog that welcomed us a few times while we were at the beach. We highly recommend Pearl Harbor, the Polynesian Cultural Center, Makapu (hike to a lighthouse, spend an extra 10 minutes to take the trail to the very top and see abandoned military artillery pillboxes), if you enjoy driving you have to check out North Shore & make it up to Kanae Point, there’s an additional 2 1/2 mile hike from the parking lot to the point. We enjoyed eating at a small inexpensive local dive called Ono Steaks & Shrimp just three minutes from the condo. There’s also a 7-Eleven across from there if you need to make any emergency ice cream runs or the like :-) If you are considering this condo, you get our blessing, Aloha.

A Little Place in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time visiting Hawaii and it was also our 25th anniversary trip so we wanted it to be extra special. We're not the type of people to stay at a hotel with 5000 other tourists so we looked for a quiet place not too far from the main city. Although, on Oahu, everything is close by. :) We found this place in Waimanalo not long after we started searching the internet and the pictures just don't do it justice. When we first arrived it was already dark but we drove right to it with the aid of our GPS. (We downloaded the Oahu map from google maps so we didn't use any data the whole trip). The driveway is a little narrow but we got used to that quickly and our Dodge Charger rental car fit nicely. The studio was very clean! I was amazed by how clean it actually was. It was also laid out nicely. Both murphy beds were down but we packed one away as it was just the two of us. Lots of room with or without both beds. Kitchen is stocked full of dishes, utensils, etc. Everything you need to make a meal. No food, spices, coffee whatsoever so be prepared to make a run to Costco your first day. The first couple of nights we were alone on the property, then someone rented the middle house for 3 nights and then we were alone again. Quiet and peaceful most of the time except for ongoing upkeep of the grounds and dwellings. They usually came late morning and left late afternoon, so most of the time we were out exploring the island anyways. The beach, what can I say about the beach? It was deserted during the week, a few tourists and locals during the weekend. It was amazing, so beautiful! We used the snorkeling gear which were all quality items. We would have used the kayaks as well but there was a bit too much wind for us beginners. Maybe next time. :) When you walk down to the beach there is a rubber mat of some sort as you walk down from the yard and it's a little hard on the bare feet, just throw some sand on it to fill each little pocket. You'll see what I mean when you get there. Oh, and also keep all food in the fridge as you don't want to attract the little ants to come inside. There's an extra fridge outside as the one inside is just a bar fridge but it served it's purpose. We loved the place, the property, the island and were very happy to have stayed there. you won't be disappointed if you decide to stay there as well. Mahalo, Aloha and all that good Hawaiian stuff. :D A hiki i kekahi manawa (Till next time).

Incredible property and the perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

Had an amazing stay at this beach studio. The studio itself is tastefully designed, well appointed and comfortable. Communication was fantastic by Gilles and check in/out was as easy as can be. The property is very well maintained and the location was perfect - easy access to the beach and water with all of the beach and lounging accoutrements provided. Also close to Kialua for groceries and dining, and close to the many incredible hiking spots. I can't say enough about how fantastic my stay was and my GF, who initially wanted to stay at a hotel so she could be served drinks poolside, kept telling me over and over, "you were right about this spot. It's so much better than a hotel." Never got tired of hearing it haha!

Wonderful Location!

  • 5 of 5

We were happy to discover this nice vacation rental! Nearby is beautiful mountains and a lovely beach. Also, there are easy shopping spots and plenty attractions to see. The property is beautiful and well maintained. We frequently went to Hawaii Kai shopping center and sometimes Koko Marina Shopping Center. A nice highlight was going north to view a tour of the Kualoa ranch. I highly recommend staying here! We drove around the entire island and Waimanalo is an ideal area for sure! We are thankful and the stay was so lovely. I feel like I can go back right now! Mahalo from Washington D.C. visitors :-)

Romantic Beach Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this apartment. The beach access was a plus, the short drive to Waimanalo was convenient. There are lots of local places to eat but it was easy to make meals at the apartment, too. The beds were comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was great. This place was perfect for us as a couple but would also work well for a family with 2 children along. We had a wonderful Hawaiian get-away! Mahalo!

Incredible!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at this property was amazing, and we feel very fortunate to have spent our 30th wedding anniversary here. We had never rented through VRBO before, so I hoped for the best and prepared for the worst. We found the property to be exactly – no – better than described. No surprises, and no issues. The studio is in great shape, and it has obviously been well taken care of (well done, Giles!). The sat TV worked well and the WiFi was fast. There are two other rental buildings on the property, but both were unoccupied during our stay. It is about 15 - 25 minutes to shopping, but we came well prepared for that. We wanted solitude, and we found it.

The beach… oh, my. Gorgeous, and nearly private – again – exactly as depicted. There were a few people on the beach on Saturday & Sunday, but otherwise it was nearly deserted, and always stunning. During our mornings and evenings at the beach, we met & chatted with two of the nearby property owners (and one brought us a fresh bag of star fruit – delicious!).

We had to work hard to come up with any criticisms, but here they are: 1) More comfortable beds would have been nice, but honestly we slept fine (even though we both have temperamental backs). 2) Sharper steak / cleaving knives. Yep – that’s all we could come up with!

As we prepare to leave for our flight, we find ourselves starting to plan for our next trip here. We are convinced that if we stay anywhere else next time, we will be disappointed, so... we’ll be back. I've already recommended it to several friends.
