James and Elizabeth Roach
About James and Elizabeth Roach
James and Libby Roach. We're both the youngest of large families. We both grew up in Beattyville and chose to raise our family here. We've been married for 25 years and have two daughters, 23 and 20. I am an elected official(Property Valuation Administrator) in Lee County and James works in the construction business. We love the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
James and Elizabeth Roach purchased this Cabin in 2009
Why James and Elizabeth Roach chose Beattyville
We bought this 40 acre property because it is located close to our home. This 3rd generation family farm had been carefully cared for by our neighbor 'Bill' who lived a long life there. When he passed away in 2009, we purchased it from his family. We think of the property as 'Bill's Place', therefore we named it that. Bill was a real character in our small town and will not be easily forgotten. It didn't take long to realize how peaceful 'Bill's Place' was. We decided to remodel his home into the beautiful cabin it is today, and share it with others. The property is like many in our area. It was home to Bill's family where he and his siblings were raised by living off the land. There is evidence of the original homestead still there. The lawn has many fruit trees, planted by Bill. The barn wood on the walls of the upstairs in the cabin was taken from Bill's old barn. There is a picture of the barn hanging upstairs. We found heirloom, garden seeds in the barn from years ago. I was told by Bill's sister, Abby, that the rose in the front yard was brought from the original homestead and before that from another old homestead. She ask me to take care of her mother's rose. James and I feel like we are the caretakers of this wonderful property for now and will pass it on just as the family before us. The property's history shows it's self every time we are there. We feel honored be part of it.
What makes this Cabin unique

We had a wonderful time on this beautiful slice of heaven called bills place. The cabin was clean and fully stocked for any type of situation you could imagine. We even made brownies in the kitchen 😁. We fully recommend this place and we’ll definitely be back sooner then later.
If you’re looking for peace and quiet this is a perfect place for you. Everything about the cabin was exceptional inside and out, I’m definitely planning on making a return journey the next time I feel the urge to decompress for awhile.
We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay! I'm glad you got to enjoy the peace and quiet this property offers. That's something we all need sometime. Thank you so much for choosing our property and we would love to have you come again!
James & Elizabeth
It was a great relaxing stay. Hated to leave. We enjoyed every minute.
We had originally scheduled this property for a short getaway during Spring Break, with the intent to hike in Red River Gorge and do the Zip Lines. When COVID-19 began to determine so many of our decisions and plans, we still kept this one on the books. We are so glad we did! Even though The Gorge was not available to us, this remote setting was a haven to us. We, of course, had to bring all our food, but time spent as a family in the hot tub, out by the fire at night and in such a peaceful place was truly a gift when everything is so uncertain. James and Elizabeth were incredibly responsive and helpful, as well. We highly recommend this property!
Cozy Cabin for 2 with a hot tub
The property was secluded enough, yet 15-20 minutes to some great scenic hiking. Cozy feeling inside and relaxed feeling in the tub outside stargazing, even at 27*F. Hope to return soon 😎
