About James and Elizabeth Roach
James and Libby Roach. We're both the youngest of large families. We both grew up in Beattyville and chose to raise our family here. We've been married for 25 years and have two daughters, 23 and 20. I am an elected official(Property Valuation Administrator) in Lee County and James works in the construction business. We love the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
James and Elizabeth Roach purchased this Cabin in 2009
Why James and Elizabeth Roach chose Beattyville
We bought this 40 acre property because it is located close to our home. This 3rd generation family farm had been carefully cared for by our neighbor 'Bill' who lived a long life there. When he passed away in 2009, we purchased it from his family. We think of the property as 'Bill's Place', therefore we named it that. Bill was a real character in our small town and will not be easily forgotten. It didn't take long to realize how peaceful 'Bill's Place' was. We decided to remodel his home into the beautiful cabin it is today, and share it with others. The property is like many in our area. It was home to Bill's family where he and his siblings were raised by living off the land. There is evidence of the original homestead still there. The lawn has many fruit trees, planted by Bill. The barn wood on the walls of the upstairs in the cabin was taken from Bill's old barn. There is a picture of the barn hanging upstairs. We found heirloom, garden seeds in the barn from years ago. I was told by Bill's sister, Abby, that the rose in the front yard was brought from the original homestead and before that from another old homestead. She ask me to take care of her mother's rose. James and I feel like we are the caretakers of this wonderful property for now and will pass it on just as the family before us. The property's history shows it's self every time we are there. We feel honored be part of it.

Clean, cozy and comfortable cabin.
Our family of 5 enjoyed this as a weekend getaway. It is located a little farther south than the main RRG highlights but still close enough to enjoy.
Charming and cozy.
We loved our stay. Everything was perfect and we had a great time. The fire and hot tub were perfect for the cool, cloudy day and relaxing after our outdoor adventures. Thank you for everything!
Clean comfy cabin in the country
The cabin was clean and comfortable. It was close to all the hiking at Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge. Loved the fire pit.As a Kentucky resident I hope to stay here again.
It's awesome that our guests feel comfortable in our cabin and enjoy the property. It really is a beautiful area to be in! The country gives you a feeling of peace. It's quiet and so beautiful! We're so glad that our guest want to come back.
The cabin and the surrounding land it is on is simply beautiful. The way the cabin is decorated and stocked shows that the owners are truly caring people! We will be back!
Loved our long weekend here! Close to the beauty of the Red River Gorge/Natural Bridge and the area around the cabin was amazing as well!! Fantastic hosts and the perfect place for a girls weekend!
Nice, quiet and secluded retreat
Nicely equipped cabin with all you can possibly need.
It is in a quiet and peacefully secluded area. Great place to relax.
Wild turkeys and deer visited the property several times.
Enjoyed the hot-tub.
We loved the fire pit, where we roasted marshmallows and could stargaze at the same time. The night sky was beautiful (never seen so many stars so clearly before).
The kitchen served our needs well, where we made our own meals instead of 'running around' to eat.
Overall great experience.
Conveniently located near the Red River Gorge, Natural Bridge State Park, Red River Gorge Zipline, Red River Gorge Climbers Coalition Pendergrass Murray Recreational Preserve, Miller's Fork Recreational Preserve and The Three Forks of the Kentucky River.
