We are off Saulsbury Street, mid-ocean block, south side, nestled among other cottages 5 lots from the beach. From our house to the surfline is 150 yards. On quiet nights you can hear the ocean from the bedroom windows.
Two bedrooms include one with a platform full size double bed (storage space underneath) and one with a bunk bed combination (full size double on the bottom and twin on the top). Living room sofa is a full size sleeper.
Living room/dining room kitchen is a wonderful open space plan with partial cathedral ceiling and skylights. Master bedroom also has a skylight.
Dewey Beach occupancy laws allow 2 persons per bedroom plus 2 in a living area on a sleep sofa, making a maximum occupancy of 6 for our house. However, our cottage/small house is most comfortable for up to 4 adults or a family of up to 6 with children. Seating inside is a 3 seat sofa plus 6 dining chairs.
It is about a mile to the town of Rehoboth, which has many attractions including the Boardwalk and Funland for kids. The Jolley Trolley runs every 10-15 minutes if the walk is too far. Fast food, casual and formal restaurants, as well as shops and activities, are available within steps in Dewey Beach.
We have vacationed here since we bought the house in 1995 as a childless couple waiting to adopt, and have precious and priceless memories of weekends and summer weeks here as our family expanded with two daughters from Russia (now 23 and 19), and a daughter and grandchildren from Mexico (23, 7 and 4).
Over the years we have been blessed to share our vacation home with family, friends and tenants who have made memories of their own, and shared some with us through notes, cards and photos.
Our goal is to provide you with a wonderful vacation experience like we had in Rehoboth/Dewey Beach as children: a basic beach cottage with the ocean only steps away, and a place where kids can be kids and adults can relax and not be concerned about sand and wet suits.

About Keith V. Bird
We are an international and special needs adoptive family. Mom (Bonnie) is a psychologist; Dad (Keith) is now our 'stay-home dad' and property manager after 8 years doing mercy ministry among the poor in Juarez, Mexico. Russian-born daughters are Amy Oksana (26) and Jennifer Marina (22) . Mexican-born daughter is Yajaira Margarita (26) We also have the most wonderful grandchildren, Kimberly Diana (10)and Kevin Michael (7), and Domenick (1). We are very blessed.
Keith V. Bird purchased this Cottage in 1995
Why Keith V. Bird chose Dewey Beach
Bonnie had vacationed at the MD/DE shore from the time she was 3 years old, and Keith from about age 10. We rented for many years but had kept our eye on these little cottages. When one came on the market at the time we had a small inheritance from Keith's dad's estate, we were able to realize our lifetime dream of a little cottage at the ocean. 'Making memories' at Rehoboth/Dewey is now a four generation experience, with the grandkids loving it as much as we did, and our children did.
What makes this Cottage unique
It is SO close to the beach, so easy to go back if you forgot something, to go to the bathroom (or take a potty training child back quickly!) Our little homeowners group of 9 all get along well and those who rent have had nice tenants as long as we've owned. We love having our little cottage where we can kick back, be casual and relax.

This place is absolutely wonderful, and perfectly located! You walk outside and on your right is the beach, while your left is Starboard! Aside from the location, the space is really great! Wood panels and light wells for the natural feel....an open floor plan for the feel of open spaces... It's just great!
Cute, rustic beach cottage with all the amenities!
This cottage is well kept and was exactly as described in the ad. A/C worked great as did everything else. Kitchen has everything you need, just like home! There is a charcoal grill if you feel like eating in and a place to wash the sand off outside.
The new smart TV came in handy on a couple of rainy days as did some of the may puzzles, games and books that are there for use.
I do have a suggestion that I have already conveyed to Keith, and even though it may sound negative I will happily rent this cottage again next year, the mattress' are a little tired. The big saving grace here is that we were so tired from going to the beach twice a day, eating and sightseeing, that it was not bad enough to ruin the stay, by far.
Keith was a great host, prompt with correspondence and helpful information and his description of the property is spot on! 5 houses from the beach and 5 houses from RT 1!!!
A new mattress is on order.
Keith and Bonnie's cottage in Dewey Beach became our home for 8 days in the summer of 2017. Keith was prompt with replies to any questions, and patient while I put my plans together. The cottage was everything we needed: all the amenities of home - comfy beds, large kitchen area including table (for several adults to be cooking/using at one time), outdoor hose, excellent internet service, TV and roku/netflix, extra keys, cozy bathroom with more-than-sufficient shower water pressure... at a very reasonable price. We were especially pleased with the location - a several minute walk to the beach, as well as to the cafés, restaurants and bakery in Dewey. We also had a 2nd car for which Keith had a pass available with deposit. The cottage is tucked behind the houses along Saulsbury Rd aiding in its privacy. We loved our week in Dewey, and hope to return in October. . . Thank you, Keith and Bonnie!!
We had such a nice stay in this little cottage! It was very close to the beach and all of Dewey beach bars and entertainment. The house had everything that we needed- very neat and clean. We will be back!
Great little house perfectly located, with kitchen that has everything you could possibly need to make food if you want to eat in. Close walk to the beach and lots of places to eat in Dewey Beach. The beach was clean and not crowded, even it was 3rd week of August. Our 16 year old teenagers enjoyed biking to Rehobath and to Park Hanlopen. We'll definately do it again
Great 1st Impression of Dewey Beach…
Perfect location, 100 steps from the beach (literally) my 4 and 6-yr old counted! We had an amazing first visit to Dewey Beach. The house was exactly as pictured. Mr. Bird's customer service was excellent all the way to checkout. Walking distance to dining and a few bars for the adults. We also walked to Monday Night at the Movies and the weekly Bonfire on the Beach hosted by the Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce. The Tanger Outlets and Jungle Jim's Water Park & Mini Golf was also a hit. We will definitely stay here again. I've already recommended it to my BFF and her family.
Dewey Beach has a reputation for being a party town, but it is also a wonderful place for families and children - especially the small oceanblock houses like ours
