About Marlene Cohen
We are a small family of five: Dad Carlos, Mom Marlene, daughter, son, and our precious Sophie-a five year old Springer Spaniel. We have lived on the coast of southern California for 20 years. Carlos serves as the Principal for Ventura High School and Marlene serves as Coordinator and Trainer of Professional Development at the University of California Santa Barbara. Our son and daughter love the outdoors, especially hiking, rock climbing, and scuba diving. Sophie is in charge of keeping us smiling and makes sure to keep the family healthy by taking us on walks. Our family works hard, has ups and downs, and strives to celebrate and enjoy life. We feel truly grateful for the everyday blessings and miracles in our lives.
Marlene Cohen purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Marlene Cohen chose Mount Carmel Junction
We have visited Utah at least three times a year for the last 20 years. We love the area and the people are very friendly. We are so excited to have been able to make this area a permanent part of our lives. After 19 years we still find this area magical and we discover something new each time we are there. We are very lucky to be the second owners of this cabin. The previous owners were Omer and Anita Mullen. The Mullen's first started with a small one bedroom cabin but with time they added to their cabin until they made it into a full four bedroom home. The cabin has a peculiar layout that allows for privacy an also has an eclectic feel. For example one of the Zion's rooms is an actual room from the old Zion lodging. Parts of the room and door was purchased when the Zion lodge was remodeled many years ago. We look forward to restoring the home to a full cabin experience and at the same time honoring the hard work, eclectic style, and love that the Mullen's put into their home.
What makes this Cabin unique
We love this location because it is right at the heart of Zion, Bryce, and the Grand Canyon. The night skies, red cliffs, inspiring hikes, tranquility of the area, and spectacular sunrises are a true gift to the senses and this can be experienced without leaving the cabin...a home away from home.

7 different people, all with different tastes and we ALL LOVED OUR STAY HERE
Thank you Marlene for sharing your space, we had a great week all the way around. Your quirky charming house was the perfect fit for the 7 of us bc we each had our own space. We enjoyed each others company on the deck of looking the most AMAZING VIEW and in the dinning area, with 5 widows of the same view, as well as around the living room wood stove one cold rainy day. You've overstocked your space with all the appliances, towels, linens, local interest literature, games.... and more than we expected. We brought items we never even unpacked! Everyone loved the great water pressure, the massive washer and dryer (we all left with clean clothes) and the property as a whole. We climbed up the cliff behind the house and played daily with our dogs in the front off the property. The road was so far away we didn't worry about our dogs roaming free. AND the deer, rabbits, turkey, squirrels and chipmunks who frequent the space were happy our dogs were too old to catch them. We recommend this home for its access to Zion and Bryce as well as Kanab a fun little town. We explored Zion on 3 of the days, Bryce 1 and Peek A Boo Canyon right down the road in Kanab another day. We food shopped here in town at Terry's and were pleasantly surprised. Glazier's in Kanab was a great market too. The german bakery here in Orderville was where we got sweets for my husbands 48th birthday during our stay. The single bad thing about this space - leaving it. Marlene you went out of your way sending us info before we arrived and staying in touch to answer our questions while we were staying here and we felt well taken care of - thank you. We've stayed in places run by management companies that were not as attentive as you were. We all loved our stay - one couple from our group is already talking about a trip back with their adult children and their families.
Beautiful spot! Fantastic views from house. Great location between Bryce and Zion.
Clean and plenty of space/bathrooms.
This home was a great place between Zion and Bryce Canyon. Enjoyed making our dinners at night after hiking all day. There is not a TV but played cards, games, and did a puzzle which was very entertaining and created a lot of laughter. The layout is spread out so everyone had their own space. The front porch was perfect for a coffee in the morning and a beverage at night. Definitely would return.
Very nice house. Great location! We loved it.
The house was perfectly located between Zion and Bryce. It was really well equipped and the view from the house is spectacular. It’s 2 miles from Orderville which has a nice grocery store and everything you could need. The house was clean and was perfect for our family. We’d definitely stay there again if we get the chance.
Beautiful Location and Comfortable House
The house is very comfortable and the location relative to Bryce and Zion is ideal.
GREAT house for 6 women!!!
My 5 best friends and I stayed at this house to hike at Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park. It was in a perfect location for our plans. The house had plenty of beds and 5 bathrooms! the house worked out great for what we needed and the owner is SUPER nice!
It was fully stocked with a lot of things that normally you don't find in a VRBO.
Also, there are tons of deer in the area and in the morning eating out breakfast we watched many deer walk thru the yard.
I would highly recommend renting this house.
