About Marlene Cohen

We are a small family of five: Dad Carlos, Mom Marlene, daughter, son, and our precious Sophie-a five year old Springer Spaniel. We have lived on the coast of southern California for 20 years. Carlos serves as the Principal for Ventura High School and Marlene serves as Coordinator and Trainer of Professional Development at the University of California Santa Barbara. Our son and daughter love the outdoors, especially hiking, rock climbing, and scuba diving. Sophie is in charge of keeping us smiling and makes sure to keep the family healthy by taking us on walks. Our family works hard, has ups and downs, and strives to celebrate and enjoy life. We feel truly grateful for the everyday blessings and miracles in our lives.

Why Marlene Cohen chose Orderville

We have visited Utah at least three times a year for the last 20 years. We love the area and the people are very friendly. We are so excited to have been able to make this area a permanent part of our lives. After 19 years we still find this area magical and we discover something new each time we are there.

We are very lucky to be the second owners of this cabin. The previous owners were Omer and Anita Mullen. The Mullen's first started with a small one bedroom cabin but with time they added to their cabin until they made it into a full four bedroom home. The cabin has a peculiar layout that allows for privacy an also has an eclectic feel. For example one of the Zion's rooms is an actual room from the old Zion lodging. Parts of the room and door was purchased when the Zion lodge was remodeled many years ago. We look forward to restoring the home to a full cabin experience and at the same time honoring the hard work, eclectic style, and love that the Mullen's put into their home.

What makes this cabin unique

We love this location because it is right at the heart of Zion, Bryce, and the Grand Canyon. The night skies, red cliffs, inspiring hikes, tranquility of the area, and spectacular sunrises are a true gift to the senses and this can be experienced without leaving the cabin...a home away from home.

GREAT house for 6 women!!!

  • 5 of 5

My 5 best friends and I stayed at this house to hike at Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park. It was in a perfect location for our plans. The house had plenty of beds and 5 bathrooms! the house worked out great for what we needed and the owner is SUPER nice!

It was fully stocked with a lot of things that normally you don't find in a VRBO.

Also, there are tons of deer in the area and in the morning eating out breakfast we watched many deer walk thru the yard.

I would highly recommend renting this house.

Beautiful view - especially at sunset!

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. It was clean and as depicted in photos. The kitchen was very well stocked - great grill too. Did have a mouse (but it's rural so not too surprising - never saw that it got into our food however). The stars at night are amazing - one night in particular took my breath away- could see the Milky Way clearly and there were so many stars that shone so brightly! We chose this cabin to be between Zion NP & Brcye Canyon NP but wanted to be slightly closer to Zion for we knew we would spend more time there. It is only 24 miles from Zion but the drive usually took from 45 min. to an hour or longer. In retrospect, would have stayed in Springdale and either taken long day trips to Bryce or stayed nearer Bryce a few nights. Depending upon what you want to do & see - I would recommend this cabin. 3 stars primarily because of inconvience of longer than expected drive to Zion.

Property was very clean and roomy

  • 4 of 5

Six of us (3 couples) spent 3 delightful nights at this home. We found it to be very clean, roomy and complete with many amenities as well as being very convenient to both Zion and Bryce National Parks. Due to our failure to check when making a reservation, we

learned as we arrived on a good college football weekend, there is no TV. I would recommend staying at the cabin being aware of the one possible drawback.

Wonderful Cabin Experience

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our time at Marlene's cabin! It was an ideal location to visit both Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks. We enjoyed the rabbits and turkeys that traversed the property. Our family really enjoyed the basketball goal and the porch areas. The weather was ideal and we spent a lot of time outside. Thanks Marlene for your hospitality!
