About Jonathan Willick
My wife and our family are Canadians living in San Diego and we bought this little place to have somewhere to go with the family to get away from the city and experience a bit of winter fun like skiing and sledding. We love heading up to Big Bear whenever we have a free weekend, its a great place to visit year round and has a lot of beautiful scenery and things to do.
Jonathan Willick purchased this Cabin in 2013
Why Jonathan Willick chose Moonridge
Quiet cozy place up the mountain, great location for a quiet stay in the woods away from it all. Also walkable to Bear Mountain ski resort for skiing/snowboarding or mountain biking. Great place to relax year round.
What makes this Cabin unique
The place is an easy walk to Bear Mountain for anyone wanting to ski, you can go back and forth or go home for lunch and it is convenient with small children. There is also a lot of mountain biking in the area during the summer months. The deck has a great view of the trees and is a relaxing place to kick back and relax.

Exceeded our expectations
We loved the location of the cabin (away from the traffic streets). It was very well stocked with everything we would need for a weekend and we found it in excellent condition, very clean. Loved hearing the howling coyotes. The birds, squirrels and chipmunks gained a few pounds over the weekend filling up on peanuts. You say this is a great getaway for your family, we therefore treated it as such and left it in the same condition as when we checked in:) Thanks for sharing.
The Quintessential Cabin in the Woods-PERFECT
We just returned from our fifth stay at the Willick Cabin, and each time is better than the last! We have tried other cabins when this one is not available, but nothing even comes close to it. The location is perfect for summer and winter activities. There are excellent forest hikes around, and one that even starts right in the neighborhood. The beautiful Bear Mountain Ski Resort is within walking distance. For us, the most magical part of the cabin is the large and very private deck in the back. So many properties in Big Bear are built "on top of each other" but the Willick Cabin, especially the deck, is a good distance from the neighbors. We spent hours on the deck sipping coffee in the morning, and enjoying wine in the late afternoon while grilling our dinner on the Weber. We picked up some peanuts and bird seed at Wild Wings on the way to the cabin, and within minutes of putting it out, we had bountiful birds come eat from the railing right in front of us. The huge variety and number of birds drawn to the birdseed was absolutely mind-boggling, and we never tired of watching it. (The only downside is I have about a gazillion beautiful pictures of blue birds, woodpeckers, finches, chickadees, chimpmunks, etc. to sort though!) Also incredible was hearing the howling of the coyotes far off in the distance every late afternoon. The copious nature at the Willick Cabin makes you feel like you are REALLY in the woods and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The cabin itself is cozy and pristine clean. The kitchen is fully stocked, the beds are comfortable, and the wood-burning fireplace is a delight on cool evenings. Though we have only been back from Big Bear for 3 days, we are already planning out next fabulous stay at the Willick Cabin. It is a total gem!
Thank you so much for the wonderful review, its a favorite place to be for our family as well when we don't have to be back home in the city and its not rented. We fell in love with it when we were searching for a little family getaway.
We spent 2 nights and 3 days with a couple. Total 4.
It was very quite and cozy place. Because we wanted not to do anything during our stay, we enjoyed relaxing time in quite environment. Owner responded when we called.
It was a good time with friends.
We had a wonderful stay with absolutely no complaints. Very cozy and comfortable cabin. Definitely will return.
We enjoyed our time there.had a visitor didn’t expect a coyote running thru the backyard, awesome!!
Nice place, near town, what was good about the time we stayed there was that just two other cabins were occupied so we really enjoyed the tranquility we were looking for
Charming and Peaceful
Even though the very close and picturesque summit was under construction at the time, we were unbothered by it. The bed and couch were definitely worn in but still quite comfortable. The surrounding area was quite removed from the hustle and bustle of the more populated and traveled areas of the city, which made it quite charming and peaceful. There were plenty of windows, a powerful fan, and central air to help with the heat of the summer days. The washer and dryer were a pleasant bonus after dirtying clothes on hikes and other outings. All in all, this is a wonderful cabin in a wonderful area and we didn't want to return! :)
nearby hiking, Bear mountain ski resort, short drive to the village or the lake. Located in quiet area up the mountain
