About Jonathan Willick

My wife and our family are Canadians living in San Diego and we bought this little place to have somewhere to go with the family to get away from the city and experience a bit of winter fun like skiing and sledding. We love heading up to Big Bear whenever we have a free weekend, its a great place to visit year round and has a lot of beautiful scenery and things to do.

What makes this cabin unique

The place is an easy walk to Bear Mountain for anyone wanting to ski, you can go back and forth or go home for lunch and it is convenient with small children. There is also a lot of mountain biking in the area during the summer months. The deck has a great view of the trees and is a relaxing place to kick back and relax.

Comfy Cabin

  • 5 of 5

It was a fun experience and the cabin was very clean and cozy. It has 2 rooms and I think it was the perfect amount of space for 2 adults. I think it would have felt a little crowded if there were 4 people and there is only 1 bathroom that's located in the master bedroom. It is located a little ways from the main town so having a car is important, or maybe it's because I grew up in LA and we drove everywhere even if the store was 2 blocks away. Once you drive into town, there was a Stater Bros, CVS, Walgreens and a good pizza place called Maggios, so there was definitely places to eat and have the convenience of large chain stores available. The balcony is really cute with heart cut out designs in the wood. There are other cabins and homes around, but with enough distance and privacy that they werent stacked up against each other. There was a lot of wildlife, chipmunks and singing birds that we would see every step we went. The driveway is a bit steep and I recommend bringing flashlights because when it's night time, it gets really dark, unlike out in the big city. We went home after dark and had a hard time finding the cabin because the street addresses were hard to see and everything looked the same in the dark. It was a fun experience and easy to book online without any fuss and Jonathan would send a message with helpful tips about the cabin. As for pets, there is no enclosed yard so it would be better suited for those with smaller dogs that you can take out to use the bathroom when needed.

Great time

I and my family enjoyed our stay and recommend this cabin for all small families. The ski lift area was closed but was a short walk allowing our kids to play in the remaining snow.
