Let your family and friends make lifelong memories in our family home - Our home is a mix of historic Montreat character and today's modern conveniences. Comfortable family gathering space in our living room with gas log fireplace, dining room which can seat 10 at table, cozy den with tv, stereo, games and books, wi-fi throughout house, custom, fully equipped kitchen with breakfast table that seats 6, covered deck for outdoor relaxing and dining, plus a back patio off kitchen with picnic table for additional outdoor dining. Sleeping porch and glass enclosed front porch. Our house has modern features, but like a traditional Montreat cottage, we do not have central air. Instead, we have an attic fan, plus ceiling fans throughout to cool the house. Level yard for outside activities and parking for up to 6 cars...which is a premium in Montreat! Easy 10 minute walk to Lake Susan, children's park, tennis courts, Huckleberry snack bar, and Assembly Inn on paved sidewalk. Short 5 minute drive into downtown Black Mountain with unique shops, restaurants, and galleries as well as grocery stores, bank, library, and post office.

Inglenook Cottage has been in our family since 1981 and we have spent almost every major holiday here together, including Christmas and New Year's, Thanksgiving, Easter and July 4th. Our parents retired to this home in the 1990's and we continued to spend many occasions together each year in Montreat as they grew older and spent their golden years in this wonderful community. Although our parents have passed away, this home is their legacy to the grandchildren who spent so much time here with their grandparents...Our home away from home. We come often to spend time together as a family making new memories. We want to invite you and your family (or friends) to experience the wonder of Montreat in our special home and make your own memories.

About Molly Brown

This home has been in our family since 1981 and we have spent almost every major holiday here together, including Christmas and New Year's, Thanksgiving, Easter and July 4th. Our parents retired to this home in the 1990's and we continued to spend many occasions together each year in Montreat as they grew older and spent their golden years in this wonderful community. Montreat was created to provide a sanctuary for Presbyterian clergy to retire here after their years of service.

Molly Brown purchased this house in 1981

Why Molly Brown chose Black Mountain

Although our parents have passed away, this home is their legacy to my sister, me and our children who spent so much time here with their grandparents...Our home away from home. Our families come up often to spend time together making new memories. We want to invite you and your family (or friends) to experience the wonder of Montreat in our special home and make your own memories.

What makes this house unique

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, you can escape to Montreat where life slows down and you can listen to nature in this quiet setting. Whether you are sitting on the porch reading a book, cooking a family meal, playing some cards on the covered deck watching the afternoon showers, watching a football game, taking an afternoon stroll to Lake Susan, or visiting in front of the fireplace --- these are the memories you will want to share with your family and friends.

Large cozy home with lots of character

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful home with all the amenities for a relaxing stay. This home waa very comfortable. We felt like we were staying in a Bed and Breakfast without the host. Never been in a rental that included so much of the family's history and memorabilia.

Host was very communicative and easily reached. Very quick to respond.

My only warning would be that this home has A LOT of photo frames hung which is great but there are many that are low enough for little hands to get to. Might be a concern if you have toddlers who will not be monitored. We had a 16 month old and had no issues but YMMV.

Excellent Wi-Fi which was great because we had a rainy day with lots of time inside. Unfortunately we did not get to enjoy the fire pit but it looked great and ready for cool weather fun.

Location could not be better. Very close to Black Mountain with lots of shops and food options. Easy access to 40 and a quick hop to AVL.

Overall wonderful house, stay, and host. Highly recommended.

Beautiful Home in the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful home. 7 friends stayed here (3 couples and a single friend) and there was plenty of room for all of us. The weather was absolutely perfect and we spent a lot of time on the deck enjoying the weather and talking. It was just a short drive into the downtown area with cute shops and restaurants. I definitely recommend this home for a Black Mountain get-a-way!

Perfect accomodations for our extended family.

  • 5 of 5

Our 3 generation family loved being in the mountains, in Montreat Assembly grounds, and staying at Inglenook. Just the right amount of room for our family of 4 adults and 2 children.

So comfortable and homelike.

  • 5 of 5

This place feels like home. It is very well appointed. The kitchen is well equipped for feeding a crowd. The indoor and outer porches are perfect for visiting. The cottage is well located for attending Montreat conferences or visiting Back Mountain and Asheville, but you won't want to leave. It is perfect for family reunions and celebrations. We had three generations and everyone had a great time. We loved that the family has left the home as if their parents just walked out the door for a little while.

Wonderful home and owner! Perfect experience!

  • 5 of 5

I booked this house for an intern and seven college students attending the Montreat College Conference. After arriving there, our intern texted me back saying, "the house is amazing". I think that largely sums it up. Wonderful location and beautiful setting for adults or college students wanting to stay in a home while attending a conference at Montreat. Our group took casseroles for dinner and heated them nightly.

Molly is an incredible host! She stayed in contact with me via email, phone, and VRBO. When I gave her the phone number of our intern who was chaperoning the trip, she reached out directly to her to assure that she had all the information she would need. Lovely home and lovely host! I cannot recommend this property enough!
