About the property

Great for families and reunions, not for bachelor golfer party groups.

This is a rare and unique creek house located on the creek in Murrells Inlet. It has been in our family for more than 90 years, and has been renovated and updated inside for comfort and modern conveniences The house comes with a private dock, and a floating dock if you wish to bring your boat. We are 1/4 mile south of the public boat ramp in Murrells Inlet. Plenty of parking on our lot for boat trailers. Electric power and fresh water hoses on dock. The creek is navigable at all tides from the dock, and there is a swim ladder on the dock. Guests can enjoy activities such as swimming, fishing, crabbing, oystering, clamming, and boat riding. Kayaking from our floating dock is made easy. Owner, with permission, sometimes has access to his boat, which is kept separate from the dock on a boat lift. This will not unduly interfere with your use of the dock.

Beaches (Pawleys Island, Litchfield, and Garden City) are minutes away by car. Renown Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington State Park, 3 miles away, are jewels on the Grand Strand. The public boat ramp is 1/4 mile to our north.

This property has almost a acre of land on the Inlet under beautiful 200 year old live oaks and has a great grassy front yard near the Inlet which is a safe , wonderful play area for children. Please bring life jackets for smaller children so that they can fish, crab, and play on the dock.

This is one of the few remaining original creek houses left on the waterfront, and is full of nostalgia and history. We have many who book a year in advance to return.

Laid back, restful, quiet and private.

Why Mr. Rice chose Grand Strand - Myrtle Beach

We cater to young couples with children, families and small family reunions, fishermen and water themed users. Those who anticipate having house parties, men's golf groups, and college breaks would much prefer Myrtle Beach to Marshmere. We do not allow guests to have noisy parties in the yard, weddings, or other events which may disturb our neighbors. We are zoned residential, and we wish to maintain the quiet solitude and ambiance we have come to know in Murrells Inlet.

What makes this house unique

Much porch sitting (one open porch, one screened, on water side)

and dock use are primary activities at our beloved house.

Perfect place for a peaceful get away!

  • 5 of 5

This place was perfect for my family! We had 11 adults and 2 little ones and had plenty of room and privacy. It is away from the hustle and bustle, has a large yard, and very quiet. It has a well stocked kitchen and is overall very comfortable. We had a family gathering with folks from Texas and South Carolina and we started planning our next vacation at Marshmere on day one of our stay. Owners are awesome and very hospitable. Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Rice!

A wonderful place!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our short stay at Marshmere. We were a group of couples that came to Murrells Inlet to attend the Night of 1,000 Lights at Brookgreen Gardens in Dec. It was only 3 miles away. The guys played golf and the girls out to lunch and yoga at Inlet Yoga. The sunset on the dock was amazing and we could walk to the Marsh Walk where there are 10 or so restaurants to choose from. The house is old and quaint and has a wonderful view. We all said we would like to come back in the summer when we could get out on the water! The Rices were gracious and enjoy sharing their special place!

Guys Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Great house for family! Went for guys weekend and had a great time. Can't wait to go back with my kids. Walking distance to restaurants but it was hard to leave the back porch and dock. We sat outside and enjoyed to view of the inlet for hours. Bring your boat! Deep water dock is great for fishing and you can be in the ocean in no time. House has everything you need and in awesome location. Owner was great to deal with and if you need anything he's only a phone call away.

Fishing Trip

  • 5 of 5

Location! Location! Location! You can walk to restaurants and the Marsh Walk. Public boat ramp was within sight of the house. It was nice keeping our boats docked at the house for fishing every day without having to load/unload or work around tides - and we caught lots of Spots in the inlet. House is full of family history and is very interesting, especially with the sloping floors. Lots of room for eating and sleeping. Children enjoyed the swing and the toys. The yard size and layout make it difficult for parking multiple cars, trucks, and boat trailers - very crowded and hard to turn around and maneuver, but we managed! We enjoyed our time at Marshmere.
