2 Large Master Suites, plus two-bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms. All With Views.
'Casa Turtle Cove' is a beautiful adobe style 3,700 square ft. house with enchanting views of the turquoise sea and the rolling mountains of Los Barriles. 3 miles north of town, it is the perfect get-away from the hustle and bustle of the States.
Each night you will drift off to sleep with the sound of the ocean, and in the morning you will wake up to spectacular sunrises.
A 4 minute walk down a magical, meandering arroyo path brings you to Turtle Cove Beach, with great snorkeling reefs, kayaking, wind-surfing, kite boarding and fishing.
The house offers dramatic high ceilings and arched windows and a boveda. Smooth Saltillo tiles add Mexican charm and beauty.
Upstairs features a spacious master suite with stunning ocean views. There is also a beautiful outdoor terrace, 2 additional bedrooms, full bath, gourmet kitchen, and welcoming living room.
Downstairs is another large master suite with full bath and outdoor terrace.
The two outdoor terraces offer beautiful views of the Sea of Cortez and garden and provide a great place for meals, basking in the sun, or just reading a book.
The cobblestone outdoor shower built for 2 is a wonderful luxury after spending the day at the beach.
Since we are located in the banana belt, the winter temperatures are considerably warmer than in other parts of Los Barriles. In the summer when it heats up, you will enjoy a cooling Southbreeze, but in case you need air-conditioning, two of the four bedrooms are air-conditioned.
Share our recreational 'toys': 3 mountain bikes, and 2 kayaks. One kayak is set up for fishing, and the other is good for touring or wave riding. These goodies are all free!
Also included at no cost is a four-wheel-drive pickup that can be used around town. You will still need a rental car to get from the airport, and for out-of-town adventures, but having 2 vehicles provides flexibility.
Windsurfers, kite boarders, standup paddle boarders, surfers and scuba divers: lessons and rental equipment are available nearby.
If you love pickle ball, we have beautiful new pickle ball courts about five minutes from our house. If you haven't tried pickle ball, we highly recommend it. It's great fun, and classes and equipment are offered at reasonable prices.
Since we have been coming here for the last 20 years, we can direct you to our favorite beaches, mountain bike trails, fishing holes, snorkeling reefs, kayaking trips, private surf breaks, restaurants, and other secret spots. We love helping our guests have a great vacation!
Kite boarders: our house overlooks Turtle Cove, one of the least crowded kite boarding launches. This beach provides one of the few wave breaks in the area. Another popular kite boarding spot, North Beach is located 5 minutes south.
Turtle Cove also features the best snorkeling reef in Los Barriles. You will see hundreds of tropical fish just a few yards from shore.
Kayakers, our secluded beach gives you a perfect starting point for your ocean adventures. Imagine beginning your day paddling among hundreds of beautiful Manta rays. Whale and dolphin sightings are also common and can provide kayakers with the thrill of a lifetime.
Fishermen! We know who the good skippers are, and can get you a discount on boats. Excellent guide service is available for fly and surf casting fishermen.
Casa Turtle Cove is close to some of the best beach fishing in the area. Watch for the pelicans, grab your rod, and go catch some Roosterfish, Sierra, Pargo, and Jack Crevalles.
If you would like to rent an ATV, we can recommend the best rental agency. For getting around town, and exploring, an ATV is all you really need. It's also just a lot of fun! One of our favorite adventures is an ATV trip to the waterfalls. Pack a picnic lunch and swim in the secluded pool, surrounded by beautiful rock formations. Most of the time you'll have the whole place to yourself.
If you're a fishermen, an ATV gives you a huge advantage in chasing down those rooster fish. Racing down the beach in pursuit of feeding game fish is an adrenaline producing experience!
You are welcome to help yourself to our bountiful fruit trees. Imagine fresh grapefruits, oranges, limes, papayas, and mangoes right outside your front door.
If you need more space for family and friends, our guest house next door is also available for rent, and will sleep 2.
If you would like some genuine Mexican meals prepared at your house, just let us know, and we can set it up.
If your family includes an infant, we can provide a crib, just let us know in advance.
Casa Turtle Cove features high-speed Wi-Fi.
Come relax in Casa Turtle Cove!

About John or Camilla Ford
We are a family of three (not including our pets!) We moved to Los Barriles from San Francisco when our daughter was 5 months old. We thought we would stay just 6 months, but doors kept opening, and we ended up building our house, working, and sending our daughter to school there. We now have more friends and connections in Los Barriles than in the States. We are currently living in Northern California because our daughter wanted to attend High School in the States. Now, we spend vacations only in Los Barriles. (At least for the next four years).
John or Camilla Ford purchased this House in 2007
Why John or Camilla Ford chose Los Barriles
After renting for five years in Los Barriles, we decided to build a home. We loved the locations: the beautiful, winding arroyo leading to the sea, the proximity to the sea, yet protection from the wind, amazing view, and kind, peaceful neighbors. We had been visiting LB for vacations and for wind-surfing. It became a favorite of ours because how far away it seems, yet how easy it is to travel there. Plus, it has all the beauty and peace of other exotic places, but also all the conveniences.
What makes this House unique
John built the house so that each room would have a view. He wanted high ceilings so people could enjoy the space. The first trees we planted were fruit trees: mango, orange, lime, banana, and mandarin. The thing that made us fall in love with the place was the arroyo which we use as a path to the sea. We swim at least twice a day, so the path is well worn. We love to share our home with people.

Awesome view, Excellent service. Top notch home.
The 4 days we stayed flew by too fast. The service we received was great. Teresa did an excellent job. The house has a great view of the ocean all around.
very spacious and wide. plenty of room. Los Barriles is a small town and everyone is friendly and very neighborly. Will definitely stay here again when we come back to Los Barriles.
A lovely house with a lovely view
I really enjoyed staying in this home. The bed in our room was really comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped (though the knives could use a sharpener). We had plenty of space for 6 adults and 2 kids. We didn't catch great weather so we didn't get to snorkel at the beach near the house - the water was too choppy and thrashed us on the rocks. Be prepared for the potential for cool and wind in late Feb/early March. Thankfully the house was comfortable and Los Barilles has some great food.
Five guys on a fishing trip
Met all our wants and needs. Had a rather rough start-the car driver from the airport knew nothing about Los Barrilos much less the directions to Casa Turtle Cove. The gravel driveway is very steep and not paved. The transport vehicle got stuck and we had to have it towed. Conclusion: Provide directions and advise hiring a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Would also be a good idea to let renters know that only two BRs had AC.
Good housecleaning and complete kitchen.
We Teresa, the manager, was terrific. She hired a cook, Eduardo, who was so good we had his cook three of the 4 meals at the casa. Beautiful wome .
killer house. great hosts. amazing views. whats not to love!?
I'm going to start by saying these hosts are amazing. Every question we had weather it was about getting a cab to the airport..where the water was...or where we should eat dinner...John got back to me and quick. He even let us extend our trip a couple of days on very short notice which was awesome. Super great accommodating people. A pleasure to deal with.
The house. The house! The house is huge!
When you first arrive you will be in awe of the size of this sucker. Stunning views. The living room, master bedrooms, porch, all have huge windows with views of the sea. Nice spacious private master sweets with ice cold air conditioners. Beautiful natural stonework in the showers. The details in the house are wonderful.
Four of us stayed here and we each had our own rooms and master baths and it was amazing. We loved using the outdoor shower after a day at the beach. Sitting on the porch in the morning and at night catching the breeze and enjoying the view is priceless. The property is well kept with mango trees and nice landscaping. There's even a sweet cat who hangs around named buddy...hey...I wouldn't leave either.
Bonus! The house comes with a 4 door pickup! We cabbed it from the airport and never had to rent anything to get around town! It was perfect! You can beach hop all around town hitting every restaurant and bar along the way. Watch out for the goats and cows...pretty much the only traffic in town.
It's a very short walk from the house down to the water. There's some sand to lay out but the rest of the beach is pretty rocky down by the water but great for snorkeling/ kayaking/paddle boarding etc.
There was tons of stuff to use at the beach too..masks...coolers..beach chairs..kids crap...umbrella...hats. Maybe even a snorkel or two. We brought our own but I'm sure you could find some. We never used the kayaks or bikes we just never found the time but there's no shortage of goodies. Hell the pantry was even generously stocked with booze from renters passed!!! Can't beat that! And Teresa the property manager is wonderful too..she comes by daily to check and make sure all is good.
Thank you to John and Camilla for a wonderful experience!
We can't wait to come back!
Wonderful Villa close to the Sea of Cortez
My family and I stayed in John's home for 5 nights in early may. The weather was perfect and the home very comfortable. Highlights were big windows for amazing views and nice decks for outdoor relaxing. We also liked the kitchen which had almost everything needed to prepare meals. Bedding was excellent with AC in the two masters. John's Nissan truck was a huge plus to roam to different snorkeling areas near by. The roads can be very rough so it gave our rental SUV a break on the roughest sections. This is my fifth trip to the area so I've experienced several other properties on the east cape. We thought Johns house keeper was very sweet and enjoyed her daily visits. Her husband also offered to take us fishing but cancelled because the bit was off. He could have done it but was honest and tried to rebook with us later. Our family will try to return in the future. Thanks John for all the great memories!
This was such a perfect house, short drive into the friendliest little town, great walk down to the beach, the views of the ocean and the morning sunrise are absolutely stunning.
