A truly magnificent holiday in the Perigord Noir
My family and I had the most spectacular holiday at La Truffière. The house is very beautiful and has everything you could want.
There was eight of us in our group, five adults and three children and there was more than enough room so that we never felt on top of each other. The bedrooms are all very spacious and the living and kitchen area is big. Both the inside dining table and outside table fit all of us very comfortably around it.
The views from the bedrooms are beautiful over the valley and we ate most meals on the terrace so we could enjoy the magnificent view. The kids made great use of the heated pool and the gardens and surroundings are so beautiful. Everything is very well maintained both inside the house and out. We loved the fireplace and made us great use of it on the cool nights as well as those gorgeous baths!
The location of the house is excellent. It is close to lots of great little villages that have superb markets on different days of the week. Sarlat is only 30 minutes away too.
Thank you again for having us stay at your wonderful house, we loved every minute and the house certainly made our holiday so very special!
Stunning stay with all you could wish for
This property is absolutely beautiful. We arrived on a cloudy afternoon to be met by a warm welcome from the owners and an equally welcoming glow from the huge fireplace.
The gite has all you could ever want - a cook's dream, swimmers paradise and the rooms are lovely. Copious amounts of matching crockery, cutlery, linen and towels made every meal a pleasure.
The welcome pack of bread, cheese, milk, butter, yoghurt, meats, and a delicious bottle of wine was an unexpected bonus.
There were six of us adults staying and it was perfect. We did feel that if the other couple, who were originally going to come, had joined us they may have felt slightly less fortunate in the fourth bedroom, which is clearly a children's room, but this is fairly described in the information.
We could not fault this property and made use of all it had to offer - huge barbecue, delightful infinity pool (heated) and boules pitch which saw many a match on wine filled evenings!
Our only complaint was the weather which was unseasonably cool, wet and misty - but hey...... back to that gorgeous big fireplace and massive logs provided!!!!
La Truffiere is a French treasure 😀
This a fabulous house with no fault to be found.
We were greeted by the owners and shown around the property and everything explained to us. We were very thankful for the meats, cheese, bread, fruit, milk and wine that they provided for us - a feast for our arrival!
Coffee and tea (many varieties) were also available.
The bedrooms were extremely comfortable and the bathrooms beautiful.
The dining room and lounge are grand but homely. The outside spaces are comfortable and relaxing spaces whether for alfresco dining, sunbathing or watching the wildlife. Bird feeders were topped up during our stay which meant there was a constant stream of visiting birds to watch from the terrace.
The kitchen was stocked with every piece of equipment you could think of to whip up a snack or a 5 course meal.
The pool is lovely with comfortable loungers. There is even a pentanque court with lighting for evening competitions.
The owners also helped us by choosing a restaurant to celebrate our daughter's birthday. They also made sure we knew where to shop for food and wine in the town and to mention them.
We had an amazing fortnight and am sure we will be back.
The owners were previously hoteliers with a 2 star restaurant and you can tell when you stay at this marvellous home. The friendly owners, their attention to detail and quality of everything in the home made us feel relaxed from the moment we arrived and we had a great holiday.
A perfect holiday retreat.
La Truffiere is the best equipped holiday home we have stayed in.
It is beautifully positioned a couple of kilometers outside Les Eyzies-de Tatac which can provide all your needs during your stay.
The hosts, Alain and Genevieve are charming and living close by are readily available if required.
The property has stunning views an excellent pool area, a very good covered outside dining area and a purpose built BBQ which we used a lot.
There are many good restaurants in the area but frankly why leave the perfect spot?
Beautiful house. Wonderful owners. Perfect area.
This was our first experience renting a house online and it couldn't have been more positive. From the start, the owners were very responsive to all email questions and available when we arrived to show us around. We were two families with 3 children and the house was more than spacious enough. The beds were comfortable, the house was immaculate and the pool was perfect temp. The setting is beautiful and the location was perfect for day- trips to caves and castles and canoeing. We highly recommend this area and this house!
A magnificent property in beautiful surroundings
When we travel as a family we tend to rent large desirable properties in quiet locations with all facilities provided. I am extremely pleased to state that this property is magnificent in every respect. What appealed to us was the manner in which we were greeted by the owners, the aspect that there were none of the usual notes strewn around the property with a list of "do's and don'ts". Everything was provided, from the coffee beans in the espresso machine to bin liners and a fabulous welcome pack.
The decor of the property was typical French style, the swimming pool was was heated, which is not typical for the Region.
The owners showed a genuine interest for their guests, nothing was too much trouble for them. They provided us with a list of restaurants where they eat themselves and were interested to learn of any other eateries that we had found on our travels throughout the Region.
In conclusion, our stay was fabulous and i would have no hesitation in recommending this property to visitors who are looking for the very best property rental in the Dordogne area
Les Eyzies de Tayac, a prehistoric centre of culture, has been classed by the Unesco among world cultural heritage. You will find a collection of prehistorical evidence as well as world renowned archaeological and environmental sites in countryside where nature seems to attend to man's pleasure...The cave paintings of Lascaux, a unique presentation of prehistoric art, displays Cro-Magnon's life as hunter and artist, as warrior and painter, an inestimable insight not to be missed. The cave paintings of Lascaux are very near the luxurious and charming house of the Truffière. Thereby it will be extremely easy to go and visit those caves and museums. At the heart of the Périgord Noir is the fantastic medieval and historical town of Sarlat. With the highest number of classified historical buildings per square meter in Europe. Its colorful Saturday market is a must. Discover the pedestrian circuit through the old part of town at the tourist office, as it is such a pretty, romantic walk. Other Activities: canoeing
