This is an ideal spot for families as well as a girls' getaway or men's golfing group.
A 4th generation Montreater, I wanted to give our children the opportunity to experience summers and off-season weekends in this beautiful place. We live less than 3 hours away and come up often to stay in our nearby family home. In order to have more flexibility, my husband and I purchased Park Place in 2013, completely renovated it, and gave it a new life. We consider Montreat to be our second home. We hope you will love this place as much as we do!
Margaret Bauer purchased this house in 2013
Montreat is the perfect vacation spot for families and adult groups alike. So much to do here. Park Place is ideally located in the Valley of Montreat, close to all attractions, activities, and hiking trails.
Location, location, location! Walking distance to all of the attractions in Montreat. Park your car in one of our 3-4 off-road parking spaces and let it sit while you enjoy the convenience of walking to Lake Susan, the Conference Center, Currie Craft Center, The Huckleberry Cafe, Children's Day Camps (Clubs), the tennis courts, and all of the great hiking trails in the area. Want to just relax during your stay? Enjoy a book, sit and rock, take a nap, or play a board game on our 300sf screened porch with the sounds of flat creek and mountain views. We are also located 20-30 minutes from Asheville, Blue Ridge Parkway, Biltmore house, and only 5 minutes from Black mountain with all of it's quaint restaurants and shopping.
We took our restoration project managers for a well deserved weekend to relax in mountains. Home was clean and had all the essential stuff. Obviously well cared for by owners in a nice quiet neighborhood. Owners were very responsive on any questions we had, which were general, since there were zero issues. We had a blast and will be back again. Thank you for letting us use your home.
From the beginning, Margaret was very communicative and even once we got to the house, there was a gift basket waiting inside! We were a group of 8, and the house was perfect. The fall leaves were stunning and there were so many activities like tennis right outside the front door. We spent the day in downtown Asheville, which was 25-30 min away, but found the little town that the lodge was in had some adorable restaurants too. This was a great stay and set the scene for a memorable weekend.
We had a great 4 night stay at Park Place. The house has been remodeled to perfection. The first floor has a very nicely utensiled kitchen that allowed us to make anything we wanted. There are multiple TVs so the nephews could watch different shows and wifi for their entertainment. The park across the street allowed the 9 year old to be outside but with no worries from us as to what he was doing. The location is insulated from the "main road" going in to Montreat by the park and nice urban hiking trails are available right from the house. The drive into Black Mountain is only 5 minutes for shopping and restaurants. While there are a lot of steps from the street to the bedrooms on the second floor, my 78 year old mother navigated them without issue. We are hoping to find another weekend to gather at Park Place.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Even better than the pictures (and the pictures were great!)
My 9 girlfriends and I were delighted with our stay at Park Place! It was SUCH a convenient location to the little town of Black Mountain. The house was clean, comfortable, and had plenty of enjoyable areas for a large group to gather and hang out. There was also plenty of parking, which is helpful for a large group. Margaret was super responsive and friendly, and we had everything we needed for our stay. I would highly recommend the linen service as our group didn't have twin bed sheets to bring along with us. The house location is absolutely gorgeous and the area offered plenty of activities with a swimming pool and playground just steps away. We hope to rent the house again next year!
Park Place is the perfect Montreat home... Close to the facilities and well equipped. The upstairs porch was our favorite place to recharge at the end of the day.
Margaret left a gift basket with thoughtful "essentials" for our arrival, which was a wonderful touch. We will definitely be staying again!
Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Montreat is located 20 minutes from downtown Asheville, Biltmore House, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Numerous hiking and biking trails are within minutes of the house. Black Mountain, with it's fabulous restaurants and shopping is a 5 minute drive in quaint little Black Mountain.
Montreat, NC is a secluded mountain cove community nestled at the foot of Greybeard Mountain and surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. We are located in the far eastern portion of Buncombe County near the Eastern Continental Divide. We are blessed with a great variety of native flora and fauna, gently flowing streams and gorgeous mountain vistas.
Life here is lived at a slower, more peaceful pace. There is no commercial development in Montreat, not even a traffic light. Most of the streets are narrow and winding, with much less vehicle traffic than larger town or cities. This is an advantage to our preferred method of travel - walking. Multiple trails wind through hundreds of acres of wilderness surrounding the Town, along creeks, across rustic bridges and through preserved woodland areas.
