An oasis serenely tucked away from the tourist hordes!

Villa Metochi is the ultimate holiday home for modern-day vacationers searching for full privacy and total home-like comfort, along with easy and rapid access to downtown amenities and to the nearest sandy beaches. This gorgeous villa stands in an enviable cliff-side setting overlooking the Sea of Crete and the endless olive groves, and it’s reachable within a 6-minute drive from the town of Rethymnon.

Villa Metochi is a single-storey building consisting of a roomy main house (90 sqm) with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and a fully equipped studio (40sqm) with 2 beds, 1 bathroom, and can comfortably accommodate 6 -7 persons. This property is ideal for extended families with kids (play ground, baby amenities, toys, books, etc.), elders (no stairs), sports lovers (table tennis, fitness accessories, jogging), couples (idyllic setting, romantic sunsets, privacy) or groups of friends (big outdoor spaces, BBQ facilities, board games). The excellent location, the homey atmosphere, the feeling of independence and the intense close-to-nature sensation will ensure a fantastic vacation experience.

Depending on your needs or the number of guests, there are 2 booking options:
1) If you are up to 4 guests, you can book the main house only at our standard rate.
2) If you are up to 6 or just 4 but need extra space and privacy, you can book both the main house and the studio. In this case, you have to pay our standard nightly rate plus 80 euros/night as a supplement for the studio.

If you are 4 and wish to rent both houses, please set the total number of guests at "6" when reserving. Otherwise, you will automatically book the main house only.

Outdoor
After entering the villa’s gate you will surprisingly find yourselves into an amazing 2.500 sqm exterior space with palm trees, pines, fruit trees, lawn and all kind of ornamental and aromatic plants. This beautiful ambience is completed by a stunning private swimming pool (9m long & 1.40m deep). By the pool, there is a lovely gazebo and a lawn area where you can lounge and sunbathe while enjoying a cold, refreshing beverage. The veranda of the house with its dining table for 6 is the perfect spot for having plentiful meals with family and friends or feeling the rejuvenating night dew whilst enjoying a summer cocktail. The villa also features another outdoor sitting area with BBQ facilities and a big table for 6. Between the BBQ area and the swimming pool there is a play area for kids (swingset and slide) and a hammock for revitalizing naps under the shade of pines. For the more energetic guests, there is an outdoor table tennis offering additional enjoyment. Depending on the season, our guests may have the change to taste fresh fruits from our trees (apricots, pears, oranges, loquats, mandarins, lemons, etc).

The resident dog you read about in the guest reviews does no longer live in the property. Unfortunately, we lost him recently…

Indoor
The main house of Villa Metochi covers a ground floor space with an open-plan living room, a fully equipped kitchen, two spacious bedrooms (1 double & 1 twin) and a bathroom with shower cabin. This layout is perfect for two couples or families of four. The comfy living room with its discreet decoration and the wooden ceiling boasts 2 triple sofas and a monastery-style dining table for 7, is air-conditioned and opens up to a large veranda with amazing views of the pool and the well-kept gardens. The house is equipped with free WiFi, flat screen TV, DVD player, washing machine, electric fans, hairdryer, safe box, iron/iron board, first aid kit and all necessary items and appliances for a comfortable stay.

Studio
The studio offers full privacy and is totally independent of the main house. The distance between the main house and the annex house is 15 m approx. It is ideal for couples, grandparents, teenagers, etc. With its roominess and its rustic-like furnishing can ideally host 2-3 extra guests. This annex house is fully equipped and features two comfortable beds (1 single & 1 semi-double), a large kitchen, a spacious bathroom with shower cabin and washing-machine, an A/C unit and a flat screen TV. The studio can be additionally booked in case the total number of guests is higher than 4 or if a smaller group desires additional privacy. A supplementary charge will be required (80 euros per night). If you don't wish to book the studio, it will remain closed during your stay.

The resident dog you read about in the guest reviews does no longer live in the property. Unfortunately, we lost him recently…

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Villa Metochi. The setting, pool and outdoor space were wonderful and Marina was very helpful in answering all of our questions and even arrange for shopping and a food delivery on our arrival.You do need a car to stay at the villa but the trip to the supermarkets and Rethymno Old Town are just a short drive away.

Amazing place! On top of a hill with great view, big and clean swimming pool. The main house has 2 bedroom and a big living room and the suite is bigger than it looks and great for a couple to stay. Marina was very kind and even arranged dinner on our arrival.

Lovely, peaceful villa in beautiful, extensive, immaculately maintained gardens with gorgeous outdoor barbecue and dining area and lots of space for children to run around and play in safety. The owner was very welcoming and helpful. As our flight landed in the evening, she kindly arranged for a delicious Greek meal to be delivered to the villa when we arrived. We loved Rethymno and would like to revisit. The downside is that the villa is not within walking distance from shops and we found driving here quite challenging. A couple more salad bowls would be useful.

Fantastic two weeks

We visited at the the start of July. Everything was just as we hoped . The villa was lovely - clean and had all we needed. The pool was perfect for swimming lengths and/or relaxing while looking down to the coast or (our favourite) the hills. Rethymno is only a few minutes'drive away and has great restaurants. Marina was really helpful and thoughtful. Wish we were there now!

Family vacation

We are a family of five me and husband, our brother and 2 20 year old kids. Priority is exactly as described. We mostly used the outdoors other than when sleeping. We enjoyed staying in rethaymo area. Visited Damion beach, chania, and spent our last night in Heraklion to catch morning ferry. Location gave us ability to go to lots of places in rental car. Pool is great. Host arranged for takeaway dinner to meet us when we arrived which was so helpful after a long day of traveling.

This was a great area, with a great view. Never saw the neighbors or heard any traffic. The house was clean and came with everything we needed except a dryer. We purchased food to cook and charcoal and never left the house. Beautiful pool, comfy beds, comfy couches, and hot steamy water!! Dining area out by the grill, by the pool, and in the house. The best part was the dog that was clean and sweet. We loved him so much, he slept in the house with us.

Quietly located villa a short distance from downtown Rethymno

We have rented the main house and the studio with 4 people to have distance from each other and a little private atmosphere. This decision was absolutely right and we spent a great vacation. The entire property is very clean and lovingly maintained to the smallest detail. There are numerous seating options that always guarantee a place in the shade. The pool is 8m long enough to swim a few laps. It takes 20-30 minutes to walk to the old town. A one-way taxi ride costs only 6-8€. We have nothing to complain about and would love to come back one day. Who likes animals, would have a lot of fun with Ernis the house dog. Even morning walks together with him are possible. Thanks also to the entire host family who answered our questions when needed and regularly cleaned out- & inside.

We had a couple of weeks at the Villa. Marina was amazing and so helpful. She is the perfect host and made sure we were well looked after. The pool was so nice and the whole place is second to none. Highly recommended for families and/or couples. Spacious and superb location to relax. Would recommend a car. We had so many activities that were easily accessible. Scuba diving, jet skis, paragliding and so much more. In heaven with the food. Restaurants were so good and in amongst the activities, a lazy day by the pool meant a local delivery or Bbq. Easy to drive down to the Marina or a gentle stroll down and taxi back. Thank you Marina.

Perfect villa

We stayed at Villa Metochi for 2 weeks using both the main house and studio. Everything about the property was perfect. It’s located about 1.5 m from the centre of Rethymno and there’s a bit of a hill to get there. A car is recommended. But wow, it’s definitely worth the journey. The villa is a little paradise . Beautifully kept grounds, super pool, spotlessly clean villa (and studio) both of which are both appointed stylishly with all the facilities you might need. Marina, the host, is unbelievably helpful, always available for info and promptly dealing with queries. Marina sorted a meal home delivery for us when we arrived, provided invaluable info on supermarkets, great restaurants and even local butchers. The location is a drive from town but, not too far, and means it’s peaceful and quiet making a day by the pool a real treat. Couldn’t recommend the villa highly enough. If we return to Crete we’ll definitely look at Villa Metochi availabiiity first.

Gepflegt und bestens behütet

Dieses schöne Anwesen liegt wunderbar abgelegen aber dennoch nur 5 bis 10 Minuten per Auto von Rethymnon entfernt. Es ist sehr sauber und gepflegt und regelmäßig kam während unseres Aufenthalts eine Reinigungskraft. Auch der Poolboy war spätestens alle drei Tage vor Ort. Stets freundlich und dezent im Hintergrund. Der Check Inn war super flexibel und alles organisatorische hat bestens geklappt. Es gibt wirklich nichts zu bemängeln, außer vielleicht die letzten zweihundert Meter der schmalen und steilen Zufahrtsstraße. Die Unterkunft hat „ihren Preis“ - aber sie ist es wert!

Villa retreat in the hills of Rethymno

The villa was everything we wanted and more. We were visiting Rethymno for a family Wedding, and this property gave us the base to enjoy a family holiday with the ability to attend the Wedding and be part of the group when desired. Ermis the dog was an expected host at the villa, but he was amazingly friendly and whilst we had concerns about what would need to be done to look after him (nothing, by the way) he actually made us feel like he was looking after us! What a star! Marina looked after our every need, arranged a takeaway to be delivered for us on arrival day and was always on hand for any help we needed.

Me and my three kids (12, 12 and 13) had a sensational week at Marina’s house. Communication was great and check in was in person and smooth. Everything worked and the pool and garden were great. Ermis the dog was a massive hit and a really lovely companion for the week, never trying to come into the house but always hoping for a crumb or two. Location quiet and no sign of neighbors. A superb accomodation which is perfect for a familiy reunion vacation

We booked the accomodation for a family vacation related to our wedding anniversary. We stayed there with 6 adults and used both the house and the studio. The accomodation offered our group all the facilities we could ever think off. The pool was great. The barbecue kitchen and terras outside the house worked perfect for cosy meals together. There are plenty of play-, game- and sports attributes (we even played chess). The bedrooms have comfortable beds in which we slept very well. The parking in the facilities had plenty space for parking our two rental cars. Everything was very clean and well maintained. And last but not least, we all loved Ermis the friendly dog.

A wonderful oasis

What a wonderful holiday we have just had. We stayed at Villa Metochi with our teenage children (18yrs and 19yrs) before they head off to University and it was a really lovely, peaceful and beautiful place. The villa is very comfortable and thoughtfully equipped with all conveniences provided. Generous fruit and local cheese and olives greeted us along with cold water in the fridge. The pool and surrounding area is a haven and the garden is beautifully cared for. We fell in love with Hermis (the dog) - so laid back and such a sweet and friendly character. He seemed delighted to see us whenever we returned from a day at the beach and made us feel very welcome. We did manage to walk into Rethymnon a few nights and got taxis home although some taxi drivers were a little reluctant to drive up the hill. We visited some gorgeous beaches and enjoyed evenings in Rethymnon or at the villa. We have very happy memories of Villa Metochi - thank you.

Perfect retreat

ideal property for a large family, the villa is in a peaceful location around 30 minutes walk to the old town, great if you feel energetic but a car is a must if you don’t, although there are taxis available in the area. The villa was clean & spacious with well kept grounds and gardens, the bbq area is great for entertaining, the pool is ideal and sits on a terrace overlooking a small valley with the sea in the distance. I must mention Hermes, he’s the little dog that lives at the villa, a charming companion to have for those who wake early to watch the sun rise.

Séjour magique !

Avons passé 2 semaines à la villa Metochi avec nos deux ados. La villa est très bien située sur les hauteurs de la ville, très au calme et proche des beaux sites à visiter. Le jardin verdoyant est magnifique, très bien entretenu (idem pour la piscine). La villa est très propre et rien ne manque en équipement. Marina est très accueillante, parle un très bon français, et n’est pas avare de bonnes adresses. Et nous avions un petit habitant crétois pour nous tenir compagnie : le petit chien Ermis, adorable. Les enfants ont eu du mal à le quitter !Nous recommandons sans hésiter la villa, aucune fausse note ! Merci Marina pour ce séjour !
