We spent five days in the apartment so had plenty of time to see how well it worked as a base for exploring Marseille. Firstly, I have to say what a great host Vera was. She had really prepared for our stay and supplied a useful range of leaflets, bus numbers and other information plus an excellent overall brochure which recommended places to visit and eat etc. The flat was very well-stocked on a replace as use basis and the terrace, with its beautiful range of plants, was wonderful for eating out given the lovely weather we had. The rooms were all comfortably equipped and decorated in an eclectic way which made the apartment so much more characterful than the normal blank rental canvas. Finally, the location worked for us being only about 5-10 minutes' walk from the Gare Saint Charles from which it's possible to pick up the Metro system, buses and trains to places like Cassis (well worth a visit). In terms of walking to the Vieux Port it's around 25 minutes. I would thoroughly recommend Vera's apartment and would be happy to stay there again.
