About Owner/Property Manager

A lifelong conservation biologist. I was born in Jackson and have lived in and around here most of my life. I'm hoping to retire one of these days (I'm 68) and we're hoping that renting this cabin will help make that happen. We live in Bozeman, Montana, currently and have a property manager to help guests settle in and deal with any problems.

I love travelling and would like to provide an opportunity for others to live within easy reach of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks for a while.

Owner/Property Manager purchased this cabin in 1945

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Jackson Hole Area

My father and uncle bought 14 acres here right after World War II. Not long afterwards Grand Teton National Park was established and as the Park expanded it eventually surrounded the property.

What makes this cabin unique

Like having a wonderful hotel suite all alone in front of the mountains. The Tetons are truly awesome at any time of day or night and the view is constantly changing with the light and the weather.

Thank you

What a magical view, comfortable cabin. So appreciated the natural history books, maps and the deck chairs for star-watching. Bison out the back windows, fox and Tetons in front. We miss your haven.

Incredible Views

Cute, clean cabin with incredible views. Great proximity to GTNP and other area activities. Bonus to have Dornans just minutes down the road for carry out or dine in as well as groceries/beer/wine.

Million-dollar views and perfect location

  • 5 of 5

An incredible front-row seat of the Teton mountain range; the view is different every day. Away from the touristy craziness of Jackson but close enough for easy access to shopping and dining. 20 minutes to Jackson (except longer at rush hour). 5 minutes to Grand Teton NP (Moose entrance) and 90 minutes to Old Faithful. Mormon Row and the iconic TA Moulton barn are less than 1 mile away and within view of the cabin. Property owner Lance was very responsive to communication. All pictures are accurate representations of the property. Modern appliances. Comfortable master bed and pillows. Great shower pressure and temperature. Our evenings were nice and cool but would respectfully recommend getting a few fans for hottest times of year; room thermostats only control heat. Cellular service is understandably spotty for the location and I was never able to text a picture from the cabin. Two canisters of bear spray under the bar; have it with you when you hike. We saw a grizzly in GTNP about 75 feet from us. Saw 3 bison the first morning of stay 10 feet from the cabin. Best restaurant experiences were The Virginian, El Abuelito and Bubba's. Would definitely recommend and would stay there again.

Amazing Place

  • 5 of 5

If love beautiful places and wildlife this is the place to stay. We were in the Tetons and looking out into the yard was as much of an adventure as touring the Tetons. We enjoyed coffee in the morning viewing the Tetons and on occasion visitors (bison, coyote, fox and prong horn). Les and the Craighead's were helpful and kind. We can't say enough about this location and hope to return for much longer in the future. A week is not enough.

The cabin is located at 13040 Craighead Lane in the middle of a National Park (Grand Teton) with lots of wildlife and incredible views. During winter the lane is closed by snow; you need to park in a space along Antelope Flats Road and ski/walk/snowshoe about 1/4 mile to the cabin. We provide sleds for hauling your luggage but the rest is up to you. The cabin has unobstructed views in all directions with the Teton Range directly to the west; the view is constantly changing from the alpenglow at sunrise, to deep shadows in the afternoon, to sunset; thunderstorms and moonlight. You can spend days just watching the weather go by; or travel around the valley and the parks looking for wildlife. Sometimes the wildlife come to you at the front door.

We have a propane grill outside. All the major appliances are brand new (2014) including a washer/dryer, fridge, electric stove, microwave and dishwasher. There's also a coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, toaster and crock pot.

There is satellite TV with the basic channels and a DVD player. Satellite internet with a local WiFi. No land line phone but cell coverage is adequate.

The cabin sleeps 4 comfortably; a bedroom with a queen size bed, and a second bedroom with two twin beds. There is a leather couch that folds out for additional space (good for sleeping bags).
